Globales Cala Viñas

Lots of things to love about this hotel. The staff without exception were lovely, food plentiful and varied ( though there was a lot of pork!) superb views from our room and never once did we have trouble getting sun loungers, though interestingly, as the week wore on, more and more people were out there before 8:00 am with towels, and on one occasion, two of those loungers remained unoccupied until after 2:00 pm. Shame on you! The 59€ tourist tax on arrival was a bit of a shock, not the hotel’s fault - perhaps I didn’t read TUI’s information closely enough. This is is a personal choice, but at my age, I prefer a walk in shower to one over the bath. It is worth mentioning therefore that reception will provide a rubber non slip mat for the bathtub on request. For me, the only real drawback is the lack of walks.

This hotel's main selling point is the view but unfortunately there's a lot of little things that let this place down. It is only a 10-15 minute walk into Magaluf and think it took us about an hour to walk to Palma Nova. There isn't anything to do outside this hotel really other than a lovely little bar down the road and an amazing Italian which we only found on our last night. There are some really lovely staff here at this hotel including Marino & Carlos. Let me start with the negatives on this hotel and the reason I only give it 3 stars: VIP: Definitely not worth paying the extra for this, yes you get your own sunbathing area on floor 5 but the pool is very small and the drinks are exactly the same as at the main pool bar. By paying for VIP we expected some branded drinks like we have had at previous hotels, but no it's all the same for everyone. No bed service and no nice little extras so if you're thinking of going VIP don't bother as you are really not missing out on anything and because of the no branded drinks being included we found ourselves at a little bar just a short walk away past the Spa supermarkets called New Point, this place is a little gem. The owner Francesco (also owns the beach bar) is really lovely and friendly so please go and pay him a visit instead of paying for your drinks in the hotel. Pool/Snack Bar: They really need to employ more staff and proper signage as people don't know where to queue for drinks and where to queue for snacks. The snacks are not that great and a lot of them on the menu you have to pay for (even if all inclusive), we went to order a pepperoni pizza and was told we had to pay as only Margherita was part of AI, however the chicken tenders are really good!!! Another stupid policy they have is they won't fill up your insulated cup. You are given 3 tokens each at the beginning of your holiday which you swap for a plastic cup and then get them back when you return the cup!!! Anyway we asked if they would fill up our insulated cups (we only wanted lemonade) and they said no so we had to hand over 2 tokens, get our drinks, stand at the bar and pour them into our cups and get the tokens back, hotel really needs to sort this out, I get if we were asking for alcohol but it's a soft drink. Lobby Bar: The bar closes at 12am so why on earth do they only serve drinks in paper cups after 11.30?? I understand if you want to take it to your room but I don't want to sit and drink my wine from a paper cup like a 5 year old thank you Safe: We stayed for 9 nights and to have access to the safe we would have had to have paid around 65 Euros, no chance so we went and bought a padlock for our case and locked everything in there, we got this idea from another guest. Food: Breakfast is the best meal of the day with so many options, from cooked breakfast to fruit cereals etc however lunch & dinner were not very good, food is either overcooked or under cooked like the piece of chicken my partner picked up that was still pink. It is also like queuing up in a canteen with one long line and the food was never hot. We actually ate out quite a few times during our stay because of this. I was really looking forward to the Paella but was very disappointed when I went to get a spoonful and it was stuck to the bottom and came away in one big lump!!! Now for the positives: Rooms: We had a sea view room and the view was absolutely stunning, I believe this is the selling point of the hotel, room was a reasonable size with everything you need, clean towels daily, however we only had one door on our wardrobe but this wasn't really an issue. Pool: The pool was lovely and cool and refreshing and also very clean, only problem is there is only a small shallow area so everyone seems to congregate around this area. Always sunbeds available so no need to get up at silly o'clock to save one even though some people still do this, maybe it gets busier in peak season but we found there were plenty to go round. Another bonus was the steps from the pool area direct into the crystal clear sea, this was amazing. The indoor pool is not heated so don't be fooled, it is a lovely jacuzzi pool though so worth a visit. Cave Bar: This is a lovely little place if you can get a seat, we played bingo a few times and watched a Beatles tribute band who were really good and I was also very impressed with the flamenco dancers. This is a lovely hotel which could be amazing with some changes, would I come back here? Unfortunately no and it's not somewhere I would recommend to others

If relaxing is what your looking for then this is the place for you. A peaceful, Remote hotel with its own private cove beach has you refreshed in no time. However if entertainment is your choice then most acts don't start till 10pm and there are no immediate pubs/restaurants to go to without visiting magaluf or palmanova. I wouldn't suggest this hotel if celebrating a special birthday like I was (50th) because unlike our good experience with other globales hotels in other resorts I never recieved any acknowledgement of good wishes from any staff or the hotel itself even with a birthday sash over my deck chair and wearing an enormous badge. It's the little personal touches to such occasion that make you feel youve made the right choice booking but I feel let down on this occasion. However globales as a rule are our preferred choice when booking because we normally hold them with high regards. If visiting room 303 there was an enormous amount of dust under the bed, found by accident when I dropped something on the floor.

My partner and I have just gotten back from our stay here, and although we had an incredible time I sadly would not return. I really wish I could write a more positive review, and I'm sure others will love this hotel, however I wanted to be honest about our experience. All-Inclusive ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ The all-inclusive package is quite deceiving and I would not have booked had I known this, or at least changed our board type. I saw a few recent reviews saying that a lot of cocktails, snacks etc. were not included, so I emailed the hotel asking if this was correct. They said "the all-inclusive package includes alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, but not all brands are included." I assumed this meant we would have to pay for premium drinks, bottles etc as standard. Upon arrival, we found out you had to pay for most cocktails and you can't get any named brands whatsoever as part of the all-inclusive. The very few all-inclusive cocktails were not great at all so I actively chose not to drink them. The wine was on tap and was poor too, as with the spirits. I mainly stuck to soft drinks and we chose to drink outside the hotel. They also said "at the snack bar, you can order crispy chicken tenders, french fries, nachos, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, wraps, margherita pizza, salads, and pastries." Again, most of these you have to pay for and only basic things are available all-inclusive. I have never had this experience before, I have been to plenty of other 4-star hotels where the full cocktail menu, all named drinks and snacks are all-inclusive so I was hugely disappointed with this. Service ★★★☆ ☆ The hotel staff themselves are lovely and cannot be faulted, they got our taxis booked right away whenever we needed them and were warm and welcoming. All our requests for the room were met and we were given access to the VIP lounge which was great. The staff there were amazing and after a few days they even knew our drinks orders without us having to remind them! One suggestion I will make is that more staff are certainly needed - there are long queues for both the drink and snack bars, there are barely any staff in the restaurant cleaning up and there are virtually none around the pool. The hotel would improve massively if they had a larger team (staff offering water at meals, drinks around pool etc.) Also, our wardrobe door was stuck and off the runner when we first arrived - we called reception immediately and they said they were sending someone to fix it. They did not do this and my partner ended up having to fix it himself. Room ★ ★ ★ ☆☆ Our room was generally lovely and we had a stunning view of the sea from our balcony! We had a large double bed, wardrobe and TV and both a bath and shower. However, there was room for improvement. The shower was quite dated and we had to make sure we put a towel down the side every time we showered as water kept leaking around the screen and leaving huge puddles. We were given a bottle of water each in the fridge upon arrival which were not replaced after we had finished them. I'd highly recommend bringing your own hairdryer too as ours barely had any power. The safe also incurs an extra charge, so bear this in mind! Cleaning/Cleanliness ★ ★ ★ ★☆ Our room was spotless and the cleaners came every day - we had fresh towels and sheets daily and our floors were kept clean, too. The hotel itself is very clean and well-maintained, including the bars, pool area and toilets. I left a mug from the room on the side to be cleaned and replaced, however the cleaner just put it back by the kettle. This happened on several occasions but, aside from that, cleaning was great! Food ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ The food was very average and usually lukewarm, or even cold. We had to make sure we got there first every day as the food went quickly and was not replaced. Breakfast options were okay, with an array of fruit, eggs, nuts, bread etc. On multiple occasions, lunch was blatantly leftover food from the night before, including the meat. As for dinner, there was not much variety at all, unfortunately. There were minimal choices of meat, usually veal, steak or chops which were incredibly chewy, dry and fatty every time. Other options were stews, meat in sauce etc. which you essentially had to eat with rice/potatoes and vegetables. I didn't mind the food so much as I do enjoy healthier foods and there is a large choice of salads, vegetables etc. However, my partner likes more bland food and he really struggled to eat here - he barely ate at the hotel at all and ended up eating out instead. The atmosphere felt very much like a school canteen and, rather than the buffet being set up in sections like most hotels have, it is in one long line - this meant that if you wanted to go back for anything you had to go to the back of the queue and wait in line while your food went cold, or wait for people getting food from sections you're not even getting anything from. In all honesty, I would highly recommend avoiding the all-inclusive package here, or reconsider booking altogether if you are looking for decent food and drinks as this really put a downer on our holiday. Pool/Pool Bars/Towels ★★★☆ ☆ We did not use the pool itself during our stay, but it is a relaxing place to lie out on the sun loungers. There is a deck below the pool with a ladder into the sea, which is a great addition! The VIP terrace is a lovely, quiet place to relax too and has its own pool. As previously mentioned, the pool bar isn't the best and waiting times are long - however we loved the token system in terms of sustainability and not seeing plastic cups rolling around everywhere! Entertainment ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ The entertainment is not the best at this hotel either - the cave bar is stunning but there is barely anywhere to sit (as with most of the bars) and, as previously stated, the drinks are poorly made. Due to this, we avoided the nightly entertainment and went out instead. This hotel is fantastic for older couples/groups wanting a quiet, relaxing holiday, but I really don't think it caters towards younger people. Following conversations with regular visitors, locals and taxi drivers we were told it is definitely more of an older persons' hotel and were asked by many what made us book here. Overall, a pleasant stay but personally not my cup of tea and I really hope it improves so it can live up to its full potential🤍

The views from this hotel are outstanding, every morning id sit and listen to waves hitting the rocks, the food is lovely, always plenty of sun loungers going down at 10 still loads, hate having to rush. Its hilly around the hotel took 30 mins to walk nearest resort but we love walking the views are spectacular, coming back can be a calf burner. Nearest bus stop just cut through beach great service to palma which is a must visit. Overall outstanding holiday
