Iberostar Selection Jardin del Sol Suites

Booked here after seeing so many great reviews and wasnt disappointed. From arrival the service really stood out very impressive and staff genuinly seemed happy and pleased to help. A sign of great management / ownership. We arrived earlyish (1030am) and were able to check in straight away which was great. We had booked a star prestige junior suite ocean terrace but were upgraded to a penthouse. Obviously a great upgrade but id booked our original room due to it having a bath which helps with a back condition i have. Sadly the penthouses dont have a bath - they have a shower in the middle of the room with glass panels so not particularly relaxing or private. They have a lovely upstairs terrace as youd expect with a dip pool. Sadly due to aforementioned back problem steps up to terrace were tricky with no rail and the dip pool was really hard to get into for me so unuseable especially as has no seat or rail to help you so you cant really sit without sliding around everywhere. This wouldnt be a problem for anyone else of course. I did ask if we could have our original room instead which had the bath and a more accessible hot tub but there were non left and i felt bad for asking since they had kindly giving the upgrade. For me it just wasnt an upgrade and i did marginally feel like id paid a lot of money for facilities in the original room couldnt use. As ive said this wasnt the fault of the hotel and isnt a complaint. Hotel grounds are lovely and we had no issues getting a sunbed in the star prestige area. I think we would of in the main pool area as these beds all had towels on quite early on to get the best spots. The star prestige pool is heated whereas the other one wasnt and hardly anyone used it. We stayed bed and breakfast. You get a separate dining room if in the penthouse which was quieter and waiter service for coffee/juice. Buffet breakfast was great lots of choice and no complaints at all! Few decent restaurants within couple of minutes walk. Square was really run down and looked a mess so we didnt bother with that at all. Really let the area down. Santa ponsa is around 10-15 mins steady walk either coast path (be mindful as some of the path is badly broken) or through back of town. Not many shops other than the standard souvenir ones all selling the same. Low end bars on way in. Handful of nice restaurants in the town. Beach looked lovely and plenty of loungers there. We didnt go on beach as enjoyed being in the hotel. Overall a great experience would definitly return to hotel (but make sure i stuck with the room i booked next time)!

We had a wonderful time staying here. The views are spectacular and some of the best I’ve seen from a hotel. All staff are very friendly, helpful and accommodating especially Montse who looked after us so well at dinner. The only one slight negative I would say is that there are no allergy labels or descriptions on the buffet. I have a nut allergy so it made it a little difficult to judge what was allowed. Would be more helpful and safe if every food was labelled. Other than that we had a great time.

There are still some fabulous things at Jardin del Sol Suites, notably some wonderful staff, the spectacular views and the fact that it is adults only. Did not get off to the best start as our room was stuffy, smelly, had no air-conditioning and had numerous maintenance issues. Although staff did everything they could to put things right during our stay, the room should have been quality checked and made good, prior to our arrival. It is evident that planned room renovations are overdue. Without doubt the thing that spoilt our entire stay, was that air-conditioning was not available in guests rooms. It is 'automatic' and not linked to guests comfort. We were given fans to use, as our room was stifling overnight. Website clearly states that air-conditioning is available and I would not have booked the hotel, had I known it wouldn't be switched on. Iberostar need to make it clear on the website that saying that rooms have air-conditioning, does not mean that it will be switched on. If one ignores the lack of air-conditioning and the maintenance issues, there is much good about the hotel. Although things are not as they were in the halcyon pre-Covid days, when in addition to the amazing staff and views, rooms were well maintained and the food was truly spectacular. Bed was comfortable, room was clean and housekeeping was mostly reliable, though better some days than others. There is not much privacy in bathroom as apart from shower and toilet, rest of the room is fully open. The massive jacuzzi bath is tatty and unappealing - a remnant of a bygone age. The outdoor space was not cleaned very often. WiFi is very good. All-inclusive drinks selection was good and Star Prestige areas, particularly the main bar, (which has fantastic views), are well worth the upgrade. Sea views from the restaurant are amazing, quite mesmerising. Food was good, but labelling was very poor - not ideal from a choice perspective, but unacceptable for those with allergies. Bread was hit and miss at every meal, with more attention needed to get rid of stale loaves between meal times. Shouldn't have to check that the bread is fresh, it should just be fresh. Restaurant service was very good, staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. Had a reflexology treatment at the Spa. Not like any reflexology treatment I have ever had. No interaction during the treatment at all, my eyes were covered and then not a word for 40 minutes. I understand the silence for a standard massage, but really odd for reflexology. I was not asked how my treatment was. The Iberostar app is promoted as the way to get information on menus etc. No issues with this, but the app needs to be accurate and monitored 24/7, which it definitely is not. A lot of staff went out of their way to make our stay better, (this is not an exhaustive list or in any particular order), but thank you Jesus, Chan, Tania, Esme, Isabel, Katerina, Adama, Petronella and Lucy. Hope to return one day, the setting and staff make the hotel memorable. Probably won't be until rooms have been updated though and definitely not unless air-conditioning is switched on in guests rooms.

The pictures on the website are better than reality, star prestige is not worth it, tyd hotel is a confusing maize, the room should have had the bedroom overlooking the balcony where it was light and airy not the dark prison cell at the back, the loo and shower room were claustrophobic and you more or less stepped out of the shower into the loo and then this waste of space giant bath in the middle of the lounge more or less with no privacy, just totally open, who wants that?! The entrance to the rooms were disappointing, like a block of flats and why jam so many chairs and sunbeds onto such a small area by the very small pools, we all felt like we were on top of each other especially people that were trying to sit on their small ground floor terrace and almost had us sitting on their laps. The breakfast was excellent and most of the staff friendly and accommodating, would I come back, probably not as there are better hotels close by.

I have just returned from the most amazing 4 nights stay at this hotel. A special thank you to Phillip who was most helpful prior to my stay as was travelling alone which was very reassuring. Wherever you stay in the hotel you will have amazing views as facing the ocean. My room was immaculate and bright. I would also like to thank Marc, LLuc and Carla who were lovely when I attended Yoga and cocktail making. The gym is Technogym which I use at my current gym and up to date. I felt very spoilt sitting around the pool whilst ice lollies and drinks were frequently supplied. The food is plentiful incluidng amazing prawns, lobster and much more, freshly cooked from the grill, both breakfast and dinner. I will definitely be returning next year. I would say the only downside is the town. I prefer small towns, villages with bistro type restaurants. Karen (England)
