We stayed at Hotel Tropicana in Monastir from 16 to 24 July, and unfortunately this was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. The biggest issue was that our room had no air conditioning at all for the first three nights, despite temperatures of around 42°C. We were travelling with three young children (aged 5, 2 and an 8-month-old baby), making the situation not only uncomfortable but also unsafe. We reported the problem to reception several times, but were repeatedly given excuses that it was being repaired or had already been fixed. It was only after contacting Dertours that someone finally inspected the room and confirmed that there was no air conditioning unit installed at all—only a ventilation grille. Instead of offering compensation for losing three nights in unbearable heat, we were pressured into accepting a room upgrade. We were told that if we refused, we would be moved back to a room like the one we had originally booked—without air conditioning. We also lost a large part of a day packing, moving, and unpacking with three small children. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t stop there. Many facilities advertised by the hotel simply didn’t exist or weren’t available: * No gym, despite it being advertised. * The advertised private beach was occupied by a large picnic of local residents, making it anything but private. * Restaurant tables were often left dirty, and we regularly had to clear them ourselves before sitting down. * Cutlery was frequently unavailable. * The advertised late arrival breakfast was not provided. * Drinks required waiting in queues of 10–15 minutes for a tiny 20 cl cup, even in extreme heat. * Pool loungers were permanently reserved with towels despite hotel rules saying this wasn’t allowed, and staff never enforced the rules. * The advertised à la carte restaurant was never available. * There was no air conditioning in the lobby, restaurant, or bars either, making the entire hotel unbearably hot. What made the experience even worse was how our complaint was handled. After returning home, we submitted a formal complaint detailing everything that happened. The hotel didn’t even have the courtesy to respond. Ignoring guests after such a disappointing experience is completely unacceptable. We booked this holiday expecting a relaxing family vacation. Instead, we spent it dealing with extreme heat, missing facilities, poor service, and constant frustration. The hotel did not deliver what was advertised, and the lack of customer service before, during, and after our stay was shocking. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families travelling with young children.

A beautiful place close to the airport. The beach is amazing, the hotel is clean, and the entertainment program is great. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. We are having a lovely stay and enjoying relaxing days by the sea and by the pool.

The animators are really great, there's never a dull moment.
