First of all the hotel as a building is very nice. Clean, spacious and modern, no issues here. The staff are nice and polite and doing their job but that’s about it. Not very friendly and definitely not very welcoming. They’re just there… The swimming pool is basically a concrete area with no soul to it. The loungers are OK, very basic and there’s no tables to put your drink/book/phone down. There’s some wooden platforms in the shady area but if you want to sit there you have to carry your lounger yourself and it’s up a hill, so not ideal. There’s no staff attending the pool area. There’s a small bar by the pool but again very simple, not particularly nice, but it’s ok. Breakfast is ok, the selection is VERY limited as for example there’s only one type of yoghurt (very thin, runny, natural one). The complete lack of attention to details is shocking, for example strawberries are not even washed before they’re put out. Gross! Everything is very average and if you come for breakfast less than half an hour before it ends you’ll find most items missing and not being replaced. The other day we overslept and got to breakfast at 10:15 (ends at 10:30) and there’s barely any bread, most fruit bowls were empty and no cake or anything sweet. The juices are served by automatic dispensers but there’s only juice from concentrate in apple, orange and blueberry flavour. It’s basically water with sugar and some colouring. You have to water it down if you don’t want to develop diabetes on day one… There’s no lunch or dinner being served in the hotel. The breakfast area serves lunch and dinners ONLY for conference attendees. There’s two restaurants at the Marina but the selection is quite limited. Food is tasty but I’ve never seen a hotel that doesn’t have lunch/dinner facilities for the guests. Very disappointing. The hotel is located good few miles from Split so taxis or car rental are your only options if you want to see the town and the traffic outside of the hotel is mental so it takes forever to get anywhere. The area where the hotel is located is very basic and there’s very few places to go for a meal or a drink. The main issue with this hotel is that it’s not really a holiday destination! It’s a conference centre and there’s events there ALL THE TIME. We stayed for 10 days and I have to say it wasn’t very nice when we’re lounging around the pool with tens if not hundreds of people in full smart clothing is taking photos and videos around the pool. The hotel makes most of their money on conferences so holiday guests are treated like second class. Everything revolves around the business events. Even not whilst typing this I can see lantern being installed all around the pool area for the conference that’s starting tomorrow as they’ll be having dinners and parties there for the next few days… not great! All in all the hotel itself is ok, the stay is NOT. Definitely not worth the money and definitely not for family holidays.
This is a convention centre hotel. Not great for individual guests
We had a spacious, beautiful room, overlooking the small marina, definitely one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. That said, the towels were threadbare and the sliding wardrobe doors kept getting stuck and maintenance had to be called. The hotel advertises an underground 'sports bar' which was one of the reasons we booked the hotel but we were advised that it is 'permanently closed!'. The website also shows a snack bar around the pool and shows images of dishes on a table suggesting that it is a sit down poolside restaurant. It is not! It is simply a takeaway snack bar. The pool itself was okay but as the hotel is somewhat of a 'conference hotel' there were large, noisy groups of people, swearing and generally being a nuisance. These same groups were showing the same behaviour around the bar area on an evening. There's not much to do around the hotel general area so we found ourselves getting taxi's into Split most evenings. The taxi's are quite expensive (typically 40€ each way) and it was taking approximately half an hour each way due to horrible congestion daily, no matter what time we went. I must finally comment on how pleasant the staff were throughout, from reception to restaurant and bar staff. Always smiling and very helpful. Overall, a pleasant stay but we felt that the location didn't work particularly well for us.
Nice location, spacious room with a nice view of the marina. The hotel offers something for everyone. Hotel is well maintain clean and nice. Staff friendly and welcoming. Several restaurants and wonderful shops. Lovely beach location on a private beach. The hotel is close to town, but you would have to take a taxi.
We had a wonderful stay at Le Meridien, Lav. The hotel rooms, facilities and staff couldn’t be faulted. Every member of the team we encountered were professional, friendly and attentive and the hotel is beautifully maintained. The location and level of service made for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Our only disappointment came during one evening (towards the end of our stay) when a large party boat group arrived in the mariner and descended upon the main bar (Le Vue). The atmosphere almost instantly became loud, crass (disgusting language being used by some) and very obnoxious. We noticed many fellow residents sharing similar looks of frustration and we chose to finish our drinks quickly and leave the area. Whilst we appreciate that all guests are welcome, these types of groups do little to enhance the ambience of what is otherwise a refined and relaxing hotel experience. We would encourage the hotel to consider how such arrival are managed in future to ensure the atmosphere is enjoyed by the majority of guests staying at the hotel. This aside, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return. Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so memorable.
