Zaton Holiday Resort Camping Homes

Just back from weeks holiday in Zayton very disappointed to be told on arrival main children’s pool area was closed along with crazy golf horse riding evening entertainment shows and all facilities and sunbeds on beach. A lot of restaurants and bars also closed. Sunbeds at pool very expensive at €15 a day for two. Pool area could also do with more than one lifeguard and somebody supervising the slides. Also felt not being allowed bring buggy to pool a bit strange especially for a supposedly family friendly resort. Noise at night also a bit of problem people singing and partying till 3.30/4.00 am and nobody seemed to patrol area to prevent this. Ants and cockroaches also in apartments. Apartment sprayed but dead ants left on counter top and in presses. When asked reception about closed amenities told it’s not high season so why advertise resort open from April to October and video in reception area continuously showing all facilities open.

We stayed at Zaton Holiday Resort from 2nd–9th May and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing and nowhere near what was advertised for the “April to October” season. A huge amount of the resort was either closed or not operating during our stay. The main kids’ pool was closed, crazy golf was closed, evening entertainment shows were not running, half the bars and restaurants on site were shut, and even the pharmacy was closed. The amusements didn’t open until the night of the 6th, meaning children had very little to do for most of the holiday. The little train for children also wasn’t running at all. The cleanliness and upkeep of the resort was poor. There was dog faeces on the grounds which is completely unacceptable in a family resort and very unhygienic. We also had ants in our room, and the shutter blinds in the bedroom were broken so the room never stayed dark at night. Noise was another major issue. Residents were loudly singing and shouting until 4:30am on two separate nights, waking our children. Reception were informed but were completely unhelpful and simply told us to “email a complaint.” In general, the reception staff came across as rude and uninterested in helping guests. The resort also advertises tours at reception, but staff would not actually help arrange them. There is also no regular bus service into Zadar, making it difficult to leave the resort without expensive taxis. To make matters worse, sunbeds by the pool cost an extra €15 per day, despite the fact that so many facilities were already unavailable. Overall, this felt like a resort that was not ready to be open for the season but was still charging full prices. Very disappointing experience and definitely not the family holiday we were promised.

It's been a lovely stay at the Zaton Holiday Resort! We spend a week at a superior appartment. Highly recommend. The resort was preparing for high season so not al facilities were available, but it was still a great time to be there without the buzz of the high season crowd. Our kids loved the kids club and the mini disco. Such kind, hard working employees. Just be aware for some extra cost while spending the day at the pool (daybeds and beverages) and it will be absolutely wonderful.

We visited the resort in the end of april for 11 days with our family ( 2 adults and 5 kids). This was our second stay but a lot better actually then the year before. The staff had improved a lot and we got clean towels and bed linnen every 4-5 days. We stayed in a mobile home and this was a nice way to experience the nature and be close to the new pool complex too. The new pool was really lovely and fun for our younger kids and the teenagers too. The beds and parasols are not included in the price but this is something that we knew from the year before so not a big deal. For 15 euros ( in the low season) you get 2 beds + parasol and 2 beach towels. Not too bad at all:) We booked a accomodation including breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and this was such an extra too our holiday. No worring over cooking or cleaning and great food everyday. In the high season I think te restaurant will be crowded but for us at the low season it was perfect:) The weather was nice too, not too warm, around 23 degrees with lots of sun. Sometimes it was a bit cold with the wind but still great for swimming and sunbathing. The resort has such a nice and relaxing vibe and the nature and beach are just amazing. We hiked everyday and did work outs at the outdoor fitness area ( free!). I recommend this resort, especially in the low season.

Currently the kids pool complex is closed and all the of the golf, beach house and kids hang out areas are closed - guests were not informed of any of this in advance. I am writing this just after 4pm on a Tuesday - the gradelle restaurant, pine burgers & bites, and presto takeout are all closed although the brochure has them all down as being opened at this time. I’ll go check along the strip in a while as I’d imagine some of the other facilities are closed also The appartments are covered in ants and the air con doesn’t work. The main pool has 1 lifeguard covering 3 pools and a number of slides, the poor guy can’t be everywhere, and I’ve seen multiple kids fighting over queues on the slides. The onsite supermarket is a rip off and has very little selection of anything. The staff on reception don’t really seem to know what is going on so no real point in asking them why a lot of facilities are closed. There are no dog signs all along the beach and beach walkway but the place is covered in dog poo so this is clearly not being enforced. The customer service is ok in some places, like the pool bar but atrocious in others such as the reception or the bar/restaurant near reception. Example: myself & my wife ordering 2 gin & tonics, which was a line item on the menu, and the waitress bringing out 2 glasses of gin and then leaving- when I asked about the tonic she said that they had none left. The common sense to tell us this in advance didn’t exist. There’s just so many small examples to go with this- we went into the main restaurant, where it says wait to be seated, we waited and then the waiter seating us pointed to a part of the restaurant and said “you might find a seat over there”- what is the point of waiting to be seated so! I wouldn’t come back even if the resort gave me free accommodation, paid for my flights and offered to have me carried to & from the pool in a sedan chair It really, really is the pits
