Sun Gardens Dubrovnik

Our family of five stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July. Great front desk service by Josko. We had two clubs rooms which gives you access to the club terrace. One of our club rooms was upgraded which was a very nice bonus. The terrace is a great spot if you are club level with a delicious breakfast 8-11am, appetizers 5-6pm and drinks throughout the day. Viridiana was always there and went above and beyond. She was super sweet to us and our teenage daughters. The resort is very good size and has lots of great layout spots for the beach and pool. The views are amazing and the place is only 20 minutes from Old town. Our favorite restaurants were Butcher Block and Konoba Veranda. The only negatives dinners were pricey. They should have an indoor lunch restaurant with AC for when people want to get out of the sun.

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik with our daughters (aged 9 and 7), and overall it was an excellent choice for families. The weather was fantastic throughout our stay, and we split our time between the beach, pools, gym and kids' club. The beach is rocky and concrete rather than sandy, but it is beautifully maintained and the sea is crystal clear. Our girls loved jumping off the pier with me every day, and hiring a private cabana for a couple of days added a more exclusive feel to the experience. The kids' club was one of the highlights of the holiday. Our daughters happily spent around five hours there each day and genuinely looked forward to going back. The young Croatian staff were lovely, enthusiastic and clearly great with children. There are three pools, including an adults-only pool, so there is something for everyone. Poolside service was efficient and drinks and food arrived promptly whenever we ordered. The breakfast buffet deserves a special mention. There was a huge selection every morning, excellent quality and plenty of egg stations, so even at busy times we never had to wait long. Dining was another strength of the resort. With several restaurants on site we never repeated the same venue for dinner. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fish at The Market and the steaks at the Steakhouse. Cilantro has a spectacular setting overlooking the Adriatic, although we felt the food itself didn't quite match the location. We also took part in the Festa entertainment programme. It certainly adds variety to the evenings, although the quality was mixed. The cabaret show was excellent, while some of the other performances didn't quite land for us. Our daughters particularly enjoyed the outdoor movie night. Both my wife and I used the gym every day. It's very well equipped and easily good enough for a full strength training workout, which was a pleasant surprise for a resort hotel. Our two-bedroom family suite was enormous, well appointed and offered plenty of space for a family of four. Having two terraces with panoramic views across the resort, the sea and the nearby islands made it a wonderful place to relax. It's worth knowing what this hotel is—and what it isn't. Sun Gardens is not an ultra-luxury resort. It sits comfortably in the upper mid-market category, with service that is friendly and responsive rather than highly personalised or proactive. In our view, that's reflected fairly in the price point. The resort itself is extensive, so expect a lot of walking and plenty of stairs. We actually enjoyed this—I averaged around 15,000 steps a day simply moving around the property—but guests with limited mobility should be aware of the layout. We also joined one of the organised boat trips. While enjoyable enough, we felt it could have included a little more activity. Dubrovnik's magnificent Old Town is well worth visiting, although it is far enough away that we only made the trip once during our stay. Overall, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik delivered exactly what we wanted: excellent breakfasts, a fantastic kids' club, a well-equipped gym, beautiful swimming at both the pools and the beach, plenty of restaurant choice and enough activities to keep the whole family entertained. While some elements of the entertainment programme were stronger than others, we left feeling it had been a genuinely memorable family holiday. If you're travelling with children and are looking for a high-quality family resort rather than a formal luxury hotel, I would happily recommend Sun Gardens Dubrovnik.

We are very disappointed by the misleading advertising regarding the children’s facilities at your hotel. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel for our family holiday with our three children was the excellent children’s club shown in your photos and promotional materials. The marketing clearly gives the impression that these facilities are available to hotel guests. However, after arriving we discovered that the Scott Dunn Kids Club is not available to hotel guests at all. Even more surprisingly, it is completely closed on Thursdays. This is extremely disappointing and, in our opinion, misleading. The children’s club played a significant role in our decision to book this hotel, and the reality is very different from what is presented in your advertisements. We believe the hotel’s promotional materials should clearly state that the Scott Dunn Kids Club is not available for regular hotel guests. Otherwise, families like ours are led to make booking decisions based on inaccurate information. We would appreciate your explanation and ask you to consider an appropriate gesture of goodwill for this disappointing experience.

We returned to Sun Gardens in July 26 having previously stayed in July 25. An unforgettable 10 days and we’ll be back again next year. Quality from start to finish. Highly recommend the airport transfer service offered by the hotel, the FESTA package that is offered & the breakfast. Kids club is great and our daughter did not want to leave (nor did we) Big thanks to all the staff at Sun Gardens especially Ana who once again went above and beyond. See you next year!

After five wonderful nights at Sun Gardens Dubrovnik, we left feeling genuinely relaxed and already planning a return visit. We booked a Club Room and, while we were a little disappointed that a complimentary loyalty upgrade wasn’t available despite larger Club Rooms still appearing for sale online, that was quickly overshadowed by what proved to be an outstanding stay. The Club Lounge is exceptional and absolutely worth booking. Breakfast each morning was a highlight, with an excellent selection of fresh, high-quality food, attentive service and breathtaking views from the outdoor terrace overlooking the Adriatic. The à la carte breakfast menu was superb. If there was one small suggestion, it would be to improve the coffee, which we found a little sour. The biggest highlight of our stay was Viridiana in the Club Lounge. She is an absolute star. Warm, welcoming, genuinely engaging and passionate about looking after guests. Every interaction with her made us smile, and she is exactly the sort of team member that people remember long after they’ve returned home. We’d happily come back just to see her again. The entire lounge team deserves recognition for their outstanding hospitality. The resort itself is beautifully maintained. The gardens are immaculate, the beach is stunning, the ocean pool is fantastic, and every restaurant we visited delivered excellent food accompanied by friendly, professional service. Every member of staff we encountered made us feel genuinely welcome. Our Club Room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed, with beautiful views across the water. The Rituals amenities were a lovely touch. The only practical observation would be that the bath/shower combination requires quite a large step to climb out of, which may be difficult for some guests. The gym and sport complex is amazing with a huge range of services for adults and children alike including tennis courts. We use the gym two or three times and it worked very well. For a resort of this size, everything operates remarkably smoothly. The systems simply work, creating a seamless and relaxing experience throughout our stay. The only area where we experienced some friction was the late checkout process. We understood the policy, however not being able to confirm availability until 9.00 am on the day of departure creates unnecessary uncertainty, particularly for guests staying in Club-level accommodation. Although the resort is around 20 minutes from Dubrovnik’s Old Town, don’t let that discourage you. The setting is peaceful, spectacular and well worth the distance. The only thing to budget for is transport. Evening Ubers can become scarce and often switch to taxi pricing, so expect to spend around €60 or more for a return trip into the Old Town for dinner. Overall, Sun Gardens Dubrovnik delivers a genuine luxury resort experience with exceptional facilities, outstanding hospitality and one of the most relaxing settings on the Croatian coast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
