Lovely resort with spectacular views of the Adriati, well maintained everything is spotless. The staff are amazing nice and friendly & helpful. The restaurant staff are so good and it's all down to Rafaela who ensures that evey guest is well taken care of. The staff are all happy and this is a reflection on Rafaela who they all adore. You are met by a concierge and Karla always makes you feel welcome. The resort is a bit challenging if you have a wheelchair dealing with steep slopes. We had a lovely experience at the Steak house on our wedding anniversary with a complimentary bottle of prosecco. All inclusive is only available on the Maro floor level, but wine & beer is available at the lobby bar.

We stayed at the Valamar Girandella Maro Suites at the beginning of June 2026 and honestly, it exceeded our expectations from day one. The moment we arrived, the whole place just had this relaxed, well-organized vibe that made it immediately easy to switch off. With two small kids (4&6) in tow, that matters a lot — and this hotel nails it. The facilities are top notch. Everything is well-maintained, thoughtfully set up, and you can tell a lot of care goes into how the place runs. There are several pools which you can choose from - for kids lots of water slides and for the adults good swimming experiences. The ocean is easily accessible via lift. Even when the place is fully booked, the setup allows for everyone to enjoy their holidays. The food is genuinely great — not just "good for a hotel buffet" great, but actually great in terms of taste and quality. We were pleasantly surprised how consistent it was throughout the stay. What really sets this place apart though is the staff. Everyone was friendly and attentive without being over the top about it. A few people deserve a special mention: Mateo and Monika at reception were always welcoming and took care of things quickly and without fuss. Rafaela as restaurant manager clearly has her team running like clockwork — she made sure the whole service team catered to all our needs, every single day, without us ever having to ask twice (or sometimes once!). David Z. was one of our waiters and always on the ball, and also genuinely pleasant to talk to — one of those people who makes a meal feel like more than just a meal. And Elena as experience concierge was fantastic — she helped us book some amazing trips and experiences that honestly made the holiday. Great recommendations, great execution. These people really put the "Hvala" (Croatian for "Thank you") in Hvalamar. If you're looking for a family resort in the Labin area that actually delivers on what it promises, this is it. We will be back!

We have been coming to Girandella for adults for the last 5 years once every year. It has been great and we love it. In 2026 however major changes to the food concept have been made. There is no included lunch buffet nor evening snacks anymore. Instead a credit system for extra pay is in place which frankly is not attractive to most guests especially since the Rebelle restaurant remains excluded/closed. Why would adult guests want to eat at the family restaurant? It all feels like a top down cost cutting measure and leads to people not coming anymore or spending their money on local businesses. The staff is still awesome and super nice but here also head count was reduced and the team is struggling to keep up during high demand times. That is not fair to the staff and guests.

Everything was perfect. Very good hotel.
