I just wanted to start off by saying that this was one of my favourite and most relaxing holidays for many many years. I loved it. I appreciate that having said that I have only given the resort 4 stars in this review but it was not quite 5 star due to a few things (and also taking the relative cost into account). If I had the option for 4.5 stars I would give it. The main plus for the Movenpick are the staff. They are wonderful. From reception on the day of arrival to housekeeping and restaurant and bar staff. Yes there are people trying to sell activities and products but they were never pushy when a polite no was given. The team at reception were great. On arrival we had booked a Lagoon view room. While in theory we were allocated this (block 5) our view was covered by many many trees and we could not see the lagoon. This was immediately rectified and we were switched to a great ground floor room with direct access to the lagoon in block 7. This was asking and we were very grateful to this. Thanks Mohammad and Ehab. We enjoyed that we had the option of swimming and sunbathing in the lagoon or in one of two pools (one quieter than the other). Towels can be changed as often as needed in exchange for your towel card. Sunbeds were not an issue but it obviously was not peak season. By the lagoons, staff would come round a few times a day taking drinks orders if you did not want to walk to the bars yourself. Again most appreciated. The grounds and buildings were clean and well maintained. Even random cleaners who did not know you were friendly and would greet you when you walked by. Food was reasonably varied and of good quality overall. There is a theme night every evening. This was good for 5 days. If I was on a longer family break then I suspect that I may have been bored with the variety. Sadly the food looked better than it tasted on occasion (an example of this was the traditional foul and felafel at breakfast - these have been nicer at lower star hotels that I have stayed at in Egypt sadly). I was here just with my wife but I dare say my boring non adventurous children may have struggled with food. Perhaps more selection for children in the buffet would be helpful. It would also have been nice to have ice cream as an option. Now that I am mentioning ice cream there is included ice cream in the day or the option to pay 100Egyptian pounds a scoop for Movenpick ice cream. We did this several times as it is delicious. If I return again I will probably book bed and breakfast only so that I can have a few meals in the hotel and the option to explore the local area (lots of restaurant choices only a short and cheap Tuk Tuk ride away). As well as reception staff I want to mention Elnoby (pictured) from the Italian restaurant staff and Ahmed from Oasis pool bar and restaurant. It was nice to have a menu option at the other restaurants for lunch rather than going to the buffet. We also tried the Italian for dinner once which was nice and a pleasant change too. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The king bed was massive! The mattress was very comfortable and my wife loved the massive pillows (too big for me!). The view from the room was stunning. Of I had one criticism it is the layout. There is a sliding glass door between the bedroom and bathroom. This leads to the dressing area and wardrobes/safe which is in effect part of the bathroom. If you needed access to this it is a bit awkward if someone is using the toilet. Ideally another partition would be useful. This is also where's the kettle/tea/coffee is stored. Incidentally there is also a fridge in the room. For all inclusive the soft drinks are included and 3 cans changed every day (no diet/sugar free options however). One big thing that does need improvement is the WiFi connection. It is good in certain areas (eg the bedroom and indoors in communal areas such as restaurants). However ok the outdoor patio bit near the bar and certain outdoor areas near pools or lagoon it was not connecting successfully. I suppose this helped to disconnect and relax but again if my children were here they would have been incredibly frustrated with the lack of internet access. I would recommend the management look at boosting this if possible on future. Evening entertainment was also poor. Probably the worst I've seen on any resort. The stage was small and the atmosphere not great. I felt sorry for the entertainers. I'm not sure if this was because it was off season but we tried to watch a couple of times and we couldn't soo headed to the main restaurant/bar area. Again if I visited again I'm more likely to spend evening in the Marina or Downtown. I do not wish to end on negatives so to summarise I loved the holiday and loved the service and the location. I hope that they can continue to improve the resort so it does not stagnate in future. Thank you all for a lovely trip.

This is a beautiful hotel with sea views from most rooms as well as lagoon views. It is very large but exceptionally clean and the gardens are a joy to walk around. We stayed half board and really enjoyed the breakfast and the large choice available. Special shout out to the omelette chefs! Dinner was again a good variety of choice but we always find after about 5 days it can get monotonous. Only thing we found was the wine was quite pricey but that’s the risk you take with half board. So the pro’s Beautiful gardens and situation Rooms large and well equipped Housekeeping do an exceptional job with sufficient stocks of water daily Great breakfast Sun lounger drinks and food service Staff (except reception see below) - we really appreciated the security guard (couldn’t remember his name but he was teaching us Arabic and Boles the gardener. Cons Reception - worst check in experience - our arrival was after 9 and we had to wait whilst the receptionist prioritised answering the phone - we found this to be a common experience. Constant pestering from sales reps - trips. Spa, beauty salon etc Service - first week it was brilliant but as the hotel got busier this suffered Kids! Parents allowing their kids to run shrieking around restaurants - not the hotels fault but in the payable restaurants - you would think they would intervene. We will of course consider an adults only hotel in the future! Weddings/private functions - we had to ask to move rooms for one night to sleep as the glass doors in our room was shaking from the bass from the music. It took over an hour to get something resolved. Blanche in guest services did her utmost to make up for things including late check out, fruit basket and a free meal in the Italian restaurant which is not free for guests in half board- sadly when we arrived they were but expecting us and at the end of the meal it took around half an hour of arguments to resolve the fact this had been given to us as recompense and we should not have been charged. Again Blanche tried to make up for this with a bottle of sparking wine and the fruit basket we had already been promised but had not arrived. On the morning of our final day despite being told by Blanche we could use the room as long as we liked, reception said we had to leave at 5.30pm. Luckily Blanche was on hand to sort. The final nail was on checkout when despite saying we had not used the minibar since the previous day and had settled our account that morning, we were told to wait whilst they got someone to check our room. So overall we enjoyed our stay but the hotel needs to improve the service provided by reception staff.
