SUNRISE Diamond Beach Resort Grand Select

Just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks at the Sunrise diamond. Very impressed with all of the staff. A few highlights.... The Gamila restaurant - lovely setting by the sea. Yousef looked after us so well (and Shady for a few days), Sehab the lovely pizza man (and also works at the Italian) and the morning coffee man. Islam the barman at Velocity - excellent service and fabulous cocktails. Ibrahim at the Sunray - again excellent cocktails. Italian restaurant - best food on the complex. Adults pool -lovely and relaxing, very comfy sun loungers and very well looked after by Amar the bar man and the pool man who worked so hard. Our cleaner Mahmoud - great job and lots of amazing towel art! Also shout outs to the gardeners who keep the grounds in an immaculate condition and the maintenance crew who also work so hard.

My partner and myself stayed at The Sunrise Diamond Beach Resort Sharm El Sheikh in May 2026. We have just returned, and miss it so much. The resort is beautiful, as you would expect. We arrived late (just before 01:00) and we were met by reception, sat down, offered a drink from the reception bad and then directed to the late restaurant for some food while we waited to be taken to our room. We didn't eat as neither of us felt like food after our long journey but we were made to feel important right from the start. The dining options are plentiful. It feels almost wrong to single out anything over the rest as it is down to your taste, but The Mongolian Grill would my favourite choice for dinner. You essentially choose your own noodles, choice of raw meat, vegetables etc and then take them to the grill in the centre. Give your choice of sauce (The curry sauce is tasty, with a kick to it) and then return to your table. The food is then cooked in front of you and brought over to your table. There is a selection of sushi that you can request for while you wait for the main too. We only used the Adults Pool because we chose it on day 1, and the service that we had was everything that you could ask for and more from Mahmoud the Lifeguard (That's a huge disservice to him as he did so much more for the guests, and is such a friendly personality) and Michael behind the bar, as well as all colleagues who provided cover at any point. You would arrive in the morning after breakfast to find your towel already placed on the bed that you had the day before, with your parasol in place if you'd used it previously, or without one if you prefer not. 10 minutes after applying your sun cream and settling down you would hear a friendly voice with an iced coffee in our case (SO refreshing) straight to your bed. This carried on until you left the pool. Literally nothing was too much. The larger pools were always busy with guests having a great time though and I'm sure that we would have enjoyed them had we visited them. Pool parties, aerobics etc took place in the main pool. It is worth mentioning that I have seen reviews about the number of kids, and that no areas are adult only. Any area that was advertised as adult only during our stay were exactly that. We actively saw a family with children redirected to a family area. There were plenty of kids at the resort, but this didn't take anything away from us in any sense. There is more than enough to do, more than enough to enjoy and more than enough space for everyone to have their own unique individual holiday without that being at the detriment of others. I made use of the gym at the resort. There are a small selection of machines and weights, but I used the running machines for cardio. The facilities were absolutely fine for what you need them for. Nothing better than the views you could see of the sun whilst looking out during the run. I've already mentioned the food, and the choice was vast, whether that be at the a la carte restaurants at night, or the buffet restaurants in the morning and afternoon. Something for everyone. Trust me, I am very fussy and there was still more than enough for me to rotate meals, try something different each day. The service received made you feel like a local celebrity. Familiar friendly greetings multiple times a day, little individual jokes or routines that just make your stay memorable. Not inclusive of only the following, as not one member of the team ever made us feel anything but welcome and important, but special mentions to Hany, Ibrahim, El Sayed & Eslam from the restaurant teams. They went above and beyond for us every day and we genuinely miss them already.. There was some small construction at the back of the resort while we were there (I think for a new pool) but this was very quiet, and unless you specifically walked out of your way to find it you wouldn't have known it was there. We stayed on resort for 90% of our stay, only venturing out for an evening once but there are local shops and a pharmacy just a 5 minute walk away if you need them. Taxis are plentiful and the resort have a recommended service that was very reasonably priced and very safe. We went snorkelling at the beach which belongs to the resort. That was wonderful to be able to take a quick stroll down from your room to the jetty and you're in the sea. The room was as good as you could need. We had a balcony, mini bar which was replenished daily as part of the all inclusive price with soft drinks, water, a juice and a couple of local beers. There is a sports bar nearby the Mongolian and Indian restaurants and entertainment in a couple of areas of an evening. This was more than enough for us and because of the service that guests receive there was always a positive, vibrant atmosphere which all add to the holiday feel. There are a few shops on site at the front of the hotel for souvenirs, clothing, perfumes etc. There is a small shuttle "bus" that will ferry you around the resort from point to point should you need it, but we enjoyed walking around as the gardens etc were lovely to walk past. There is an artist on site producing new paintings daily if you would like to have something created. Unsure on the specific price, but the art is impressive. We will definitely be back again. This was our first experience of Egypt and we could not have been left with a better set of memories or impression. Recently returned from the sunrise Diamond in Sharm it’s an absolutely beautiful hotel and the Staff are out of this world. They are all absolutely wonderful, the rooms for staff the food. We really enjoyed our stay. This is my food visit to this hotel and it never disappoints. Special shout out for the Gamila restaurant, which does wonderful food and has wonderful staff. Shadi and Yousef looked after us as though we were their own family. Can’t wait to go back again.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. A criminal police report has been filed against the management for Commercial Deception and Breach of Contract. We pursued a refund through our credit card company and the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism. 1. THE TRAP (The "Bait and Switch") We booked the expensive "Junior Swim-Up Suite Sea View - Posh Club" months in advance and paid a deposit to secure it. • The Lie: When we arrived at 8:00 PM, exhausted from travel, the Assistant Manager admitted they knew the hotel was overbooked before we even boarded our flight but deliberately chose not to inform us. • The Setup: They waited until we were in the lobby with our luggage to spring the trap, knowing we had nowhere else to go. 2. THE EXTORTION (11:00 PM) 3 hours in, they still hadn’t resolve this. Instead of apologising or refunding our deposit so we could leave, they effectively trapped us. • The Demand: The assistant manager refused to refund our deposit. He told us we had two choices: lose our money and leave at midnight with nowhere to go, or force us to apply the deposit to a downgraded Room we didn't want. • The Duress: My partner was in tears. We were forced to stay one night solely for safety. We checked out the next morning and fled to the Steigenberger Alcazar (a real 5-star hotel). 3. THE POLICE INVESTIGATION We went to the Sharm El Sheikh Tourism Police to file a criminal complaint. Switch & Bait is a crime in Egypt. • The Cowardice: The General Manager, refused to come to the station initially. He sent two junior managers who were useless. It was only when the Police Major intervened and threatened to arrest the The General Manager did he finally attend personally. • The "Bribe": When the General Manager finally arrived, he still refused to refund the money taken under duress. Instead, he tried to offer us "free excursions" to make the criminal report go away. We refused. We want justice, not a free boat trip. 4. ⚠ CRITICAL GUIDE: WHAT TO DO IF THEY SCAM YOU ⚠ Learn from our nightmare. If you arrive and they say "Overbooked" or try to downgrade you, follow these steps immediately: • ALWAYS PAY WITH A PERSONAL CREDIT CARD: Never use a debit card or business card. You need the protection of Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. • DO NOT ACCEPT THE ROOM: If you check in for your full stay, you legally "accept" the contract. Refuse the keys. • DEMAND A REFUND IMMEDIATELY: If they refuse, call the Tourism Police (Dial 126) immediately in front of them. • GO TO THE POLICE STATION: Go to the Tourism Police station in Naama Bay as soon as possible. They are very familiar with this hotel's practices and they are already on their watchlist. File an "Ahwal" (Administrative) Report. This is the only thing the hotel management fears. • EMAIL EVERYTHING: Send an email to the hotel management as soon as possible. You don’t need them to reply; you just need proof that you told them. This is your evidence. • IGNORE THE "OFFERS": They will try to bribe you with fruit plates, massages, or upgrades later. Do not take them. It is a trick to prove you "accepted" compensation so they can win the bank dispute later. • FIND A "SPEC-FOR-SPEC" HOTEL: Go to a real luxury hotel (I recommend the Steigenberger Alcazar), even if it costs more. • CLAIM THE DIFFERENCE (SECTION 75): Under UK Credit Law (Section 75), your credit card company is liable to pay the difference in cost for "Spec-for-Spec" accommodation. They will pay you the extra money and claim it back from the hotel. • EMAIL THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM: Report them to the “Egyptian Ministry of Tourism” immediately, although they can be equally useless. VERDICT: They overbook purposely, knowing you will have nowhere else to go, and will end up staying, after all, who is going to kick up a fuss after arriving on holiday after a long flight? Save your money and book the Steigenberger or Rixos instead. This is not a luxury resort; it is a trap run by management that makes its money on corruption and fraud, AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD AT IT. Sharm El-Sheikh has worked tirelessly to build up tourism and make visitors feel safe, only to be let down by corporate scammers and thieves like this. They are concerned only with propping up their books and intentionally overbooking, knowing you have nowhere else to go. They rely on the fact that you will be too exhausted to fight back. After all, who wants to kick up a fuss after a long flight? Save your money and go elsewhere.

Our 3rd visit, not our last! Fantastic hotel, with brilliant helpful staff. Clean spacious room very well by Mohamed who is friendly chatty and happy to help. He also makes towel art which the wife loves. Mahmoud and Amr around the adult pool keep you looked after with sun loungers and refreshing drinks. Plus no 6am gallop for a lounger! Restraunts all serve good food and there are lots of bars for an evening drink. Some hounarable metions here..Ibrahim in the jewels restraunt keeps the coffees,juices and beers topped up, Ahmed and Ibrahim in the sun ray bar never leave you straing at an empty glass. Same to be said of Mahdy and Mina in the latitude bar. So many staff but all with a great attitude and friendly demeanour, a credit to the hotel. Reserving the a la carte restraunts is simple via a mobile and they are all worth visiting. Pretty well maintained gardens set the backdrop for a smart well presented hotel. A very enjoyable holiday.
