We recently stayed at Sunrise Diamond Beach Resort, and it took me quite a while to gather my thoughts and write as fair and objective as possible. To begin with, we specifically paid extra for the premium Posh Club concept. It’s important to mention that in January this year we had already stayed at another hotel in the same chain — Sunrise White Hills Resort — and were absolutely delighted with the service under the same concept. That’s exactly why we chose this hotel, expecting a similar level. Unfortunately, the reality was the complete opposite. It felt as though the Posh Club concept in this hotel exists only as a surcharge, not as an actual service. From the very beginning, things went wrong: our private transfer was late, and we had to wait about 25 minutes. Despite the promised fast check-in, we spent around 30 minutes sitting on a sofa waiting to be checked in, apparently waiting for someone from the main reception. It’s quite strange, considering the transfer must have informed them we were on the way. The personal butler barely performed any of their duties: there was no introduction to the hotel infrastructure, and requests were not fulfilled (towels were not delivered even after 5 hours, and the reservation for the Egyptian restaurant was not made on the first day). On the second day, we were told the Italian restaurant was fully booked, even though Posh Club guests are supposed to have priority reservations. Later, Guest Relations confirmed that availability should always exist for Posh Club guests. In general, the butler was neither seen nor heard. For comparison, at White Hills our butler would message us every morning, ask if we needed anything, assist with dinner reservations, and send a list of daily activities. Breakfasts and lunches in the Posh Club were fine — nothing extraordinary, but not bad either. The only issue was that some dishes didn’t match their descriptions (for example, a salad listed as beetroot, pear, goat cheese, and balsamic sauce turned out to be beetroot, apple, Chinese cabbage, a minimal amount of goat cheese, and mayonnaise on top). However, the shrimp and calamari were excellent. Evening time at the Posh Club restaurant, unfortunately, was a different story. Tables were dirty, and staff were nowhere to be found (I have videos — this was the case every evening without exception). After dinner, we often wanted to have a cocktail, dessert, or some fruit, but all tables were uncleared. Dirty dishes, crumbs, even ash on the tables. At one table, I literally had to peel a knife off the surface because it was stuck. This simply should not happen — especially in a “premium” concept — and there was no staff around. In the end, we were served in the evenings by the manager from the neighboring Felluca restaurant — Hany. We were actually asking him to transfer to Posh Club because he provided excellent and responsible service. A big thank you to him — he truly saved our evenings. The beach (dedicated to Posh Club) was also disappointing: during the first two days, no one approached us even once over several hours. There wasn’t even a basic offer of water, let alone personalized service, despite it being advertised. Unless you go and ask yourself, no one makes any effort. Overall service level: a clear absence of the promised “premium” experience. At the same time, in other restaurants the waiters were wonderful — polite and genuinely trying their best. We contacted Guest Relations (Polina — she really tried to help us) and even spoke with the General Manager. We were promised improvements, but in reality, changes were minimal and mostly limited to morning and daytime service. Islam and Ahmed did start making an effort after speaking with the General Manager — cleaning tables and providing good service, even at the beach (sometimes even when we weren’t at the Posh Club beach). However, evenings unfortunately remained unchanged. It’s very clear that the Posh Club is severely understaffed. As we were told, they didn’t even have a manager at the time. But in that case, should guests really be charged full price for a concept that cannot be delivered? As a gesture of apology, the hotel organized a romantic dinner for us — it was truly beautiful and very enjoyable. The menu was excellent (as far as we understood, from the Felluca restaurant). However, one nice gesture does not compensate for systemic service issues. By the way, I see many people praising the animation team. I can’t really confirm that — I personally saw only one animator once while playing volleyball. For the rest of the holiday, we didn’t see anyone. We spent most of our time at the beach (mostly at the main beach, not only Posh Club), and never heard anyone inviting guests to activities like bocce, darts, or volleyball. Perhaps everything was happening only around the main pool. Conclusion: If you are considering this hotel specifically for the Posh Club concept — we do not recommend it. However, if you’re simply looking for a relaxing holiday, the hotel itself is quite suitable. The reef is very good, with plenty of fish. It might not be the most convenient option for families with very young children, as the hotel is built on multiple levels and using a stroller could be difficult. Evenings are calm with soft music, à la carte restaurants are great — we especially liked Gamila (Egyptian restaurant), and overall the hotel staff are friendly and welcoming.
very good week in hotel so amzing popola at hotel real so good holiday and food so testa and rooom so nico and very day difroent show stufa so good thank you for all team black star
First time to Egypt so were a little trepidatious. However Sunrise has the right name its a real Diamond. Never stayed in a cleaner hotel or one where you are looked after better. All round a fantastic hotel in every respect. Special shout outs to Shady and Yousseff in Gamila the Egyptian restaurant who looked after the three of us so well. Nothing was too much trouble for them thankyou. Also special thanks to Mina who seemed to be at every bar we went to . His speedy friendly service could not be bettered and thanks for all the crisps . A memorable holiday made special by special people thankyou. We are already looking to book a return.
We have recently returned from an enjoyable stay at Sunrise Diamond Beach, our 2nd visit to a Sunrise property. We booked a junior swim up suite ‘Posh Club’ sea view. Arrival was as promised, being met at the airport for a private transfer that went well with welcome cold water provided for the transfer. Check in was carried out at the Posh Club lounge where we were again offered cold beer & prosecco. Having experienced the Posh Club at Sunrise Arabian beach our expectations were high but unfortunately Diamond Beach Posh Club has some way to go to meet their levels of service. Room. This is where things started to go downhill unfortunately, it just wasn’t as expected and nothing like the website pictures for a start it didn’t have a bath as was described, with it being a late arrival nothing was to be done that night and to the credit of the Posh Club manager, Mr Mohammed the next morning a solution was found which better suited us, this was despite receiving a what’s app message from reception at 05:30 in the morning informing me another room was immediately available should I want to check it !! Posh Club. Our expectations of posh club were high after an earlier stay at a sister hotel but unfortunately they fell some way short. As an example at the Arabian beach we received daily what’s app messages with restaurant booking options. A simple what’s app request for drinks snacks etc was answered promptly and delivered to our swim up room, unfortunately a request for a bottle of wine at Diamond beach went un-read for 3 hours only to be eventually answered to be told they could only bring wine by the glass ? On one occasion I asked for pizza for lunch & was told the only pizza available was margarita if I wanted any other type I had to go to Gamila beach restaurant next door to get it. Lo and behold my Margarita pizza came from the beach restaurant ? So why can’t any other pizza be available to order ? I don’t want to be completely negative as we did enjoy our stay. Food at all the restaurants (including posh club breakfast) & buffet was very good we didn’t have one bad meal, I would just say though that while we enjoyed the Mongolian the raw meats shouldn’t really be part of the buffet concept, the possibility of cross contamination using the same utensils for raw chicken, beef, duck etc is a risk, that being said we didn’t get ill !! The staff do really make this hotel. Thanks to Mohammed our housekeeper who truly went above & beyond, Eslam, Amr & Ahmed at posh club & ibrahim at Velocity bar who made exceptional Espresso Martini’s & Whiskey sours. Would we return ? Yes because we enjoyed the hotel and its staff but I wouldn’t bother with Posh Club until it improves, I’m sure under the direction of Mr Mohammed as Club manager things will get better.
Recently returned from this hotel where we celebrated a significant birthday with family and friends. I had emailed the hotel in advance, asking for a particular block – which we were very pleased to hear we were exactly where we had requested. Great service on that. The check in was a little chaotic at first, we didn’t have to go up to the reception, we were told to sit in the lobby nearby while the staff took care of everything. Worth mentioning that most people who we spoke to were given a welcome drink…we were not offered anything. The rooms were in block 8, right next to the adult pool and on such a huge complex relatively central to everything – restaurants, reception, beach etc. The room was fine, nice bathroom, balcony with a bit of a sea view. Very good aircon. Beers and soft drinks replenished daily in minibar. We used all the restaurants – buffet, Indian, Italian, Egyptian, Mongolian. All very good, buffet way too busy for us with kids darting around, babies shrieking from all directions – there was no escape from it. All meals had a really wide range of options and cooking stands for omelettes, roast beef carving and the like. Of the a la carte restaurants we preferred the Indian and the Gamila Egyptian near the beach. The Mongolian was a bit odd, nice sushi options but you choose your own noodles, veg and meats. It was a bit of a concern that you took the lid off each one and eventually opened up one full of raw chicken, then beef then duck. Not ideal for vegans and vegetarians, or for food hygiene with vegetable tongs and raw meat tongs very close to each other and easily swapped or moved by mistake. Cucumber with raw chicken glaze anyone? Staff always work hard, look after you and were extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and with the exception of the grumpiest roast meats carver ever, we were taken aback by the levels of customer care in restaurants, reception, pool areas & bars. One of the managers comes round nearly every day, speaks to everyone and is genuinely interested to know how your holiday is going. He’s a good laugh and if he can help you, he gets things done. He arranged everything for our special celebration night. Top fella! The bus stop system was ok; you might have to wait a bit because there isn’t a shuttle service as such (unless you are posh club) so it’s just one bus doing a circuit over and over. It’s a good help and once you’re picked up, you’re on your way. The drivers are great, nice folk. We liked breakfast at the Gamila Restaurant which has a smaller range than the main buffet but more than enough choice. Sadly, you won’t escape the chorus of screaming kids there though as it isn’t adult only. We even saw one screaming boy being literally dragged out of the Posh Club restaurant breakfast by his arm by an angry mother – so there’s no escape in Posh Club either. One concern here is the birds that come in as its open plan – you have two types – sparrows who literally land on the buffet and sit eating what they like (we say on actually IN the pasta, banqueting away. The other type is the jackdaw larger birds who sit waiting on the fence for someone to leave then take over the table and finish what they left. In both cases, staff nearby (including chefs) didn’t seem to have any issue with both types of birds – not once did I see anyone shoo them away, they just ignored them. Even when they are sitting on the buffet enjoying the tray of pancakes. Posh Club seems odd. I pondered what I might do if offered a (paid for) upgrade. I wasn’t and assumed they must be full. If that was the case, then Posh Club people must never eat or even swim up in their swim up pools. Some breakfast times their PC restaurant had one couple in. 2 PC members and 6 staff. Best we saw was 3 tables being used. It was extremely rare to see anyone in their PC swim up pools – some days not a single person. Ok you get branded spirits and bubbly on demand, but you’d need to drink a hell of a lot of Prosecco to cover the extra cost. I read it is a whole new level of service but the service we received would be difficult to improve on – and that is a real compliment to the hotel. I would say if you wanted to interact and have banter you need to stay ‘normal’ as there isn’t much of that on Posh Club side that we ever saw. The sea is so beautiful. The changes in the blue colour as you look out, stunning. Snorkelling is amazing for fish of so many types and colours, but when we were there, it seemed a bit choppy, and it took some effort to stay still let alone swim to somewhere else. We made up for that by booking the Yellow submarine – we’ve been on a few, but nothing comes close to the Sharm ones – clearest windows, sea, it was amazing. We booked with the guy in the corner as you come into the main reception. He was very helpful and his prices were on par with online websites. Certainly, cheaper than the Tour Operator we booked our holiday with. Great points: Service, choice of bars, choice of restaurants, the fact you can book an a la carte restaurant every night if you choose (there is no restriction like one per week like some hotels), adult only bar, AO beach area, AO pool. But mainly the staff – all bright and shiny and ready to help make your holiday better. Not so great points: No Prosecco/Bubbly included (in a 5-star AI??) red & white AI wine not great. Leave your adult only pool/bar/beach and you will leave peace and quiet behind. Tantrum kids, screaming babies, children running amok across the lobby, using the furniture as trampolines…there is no escape! Parents don’t even look up let alone try and calm them down. We loved our stay here and are full of praise for so many things. Make it Adult Only (no kids, no sparrows) and we’d definitely return. But as it is we will try the Rixos next time for a scream free relaxing holiday.
