The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi

We were disappointed and genuinely shocked by some of the unprofessional service during our stay. Check in was functional, not a warm friendly welcome. At the Sofia lunch restaurant the experience was inconsistent. On our first day, daily specials were offered, but the next day, no one mentioned them. When we inquired about the risotto from the previous day, the response was a casual “Oh yes, it’s still available,” plus our drinks were finished and it took ages to ask for one more and get another. It was not busy. Additionally, one staff member incorrectly informed us that we could not sit outside if ordering wine with lunch due to Ramadan. We accepted this without issue, but upon arriving at the restaurant, other staff confirmed that outdoor seating was perfectly allowed with wine. So sitting indoors would have been far less enjoyable. The spa is dated and the lady who checked me in and showed me the changing facilities looked really miserable. She must’ve been having a bad day. However the therapist Malikha was fantastic with the treatments. The Hotel checkout process was particularly poor. We had prepaid our full accommodation, so only extras needed settling. The staff member had no record of this and attempted to charge us again for the room. When we pointed this out, she blamed a “glitch in the system” rather than resolving the issue promptly. She then disappeared for several minutes, leaving us waiting awkwardly in the reception area. The hotel itself is elegant in design, but the interiors feel very dated and offer nothing particularly noteworthy or luxurious. So with so many exceptional options across the UAE, the management urgently needs to invest in comprehensive staff training, to match the property’s potential.

I did a few 5 stars hotel but this one is for me one of the best! 2 swimming pool with one only for adult! Quiet, relax.. Staffing is 6* level! No waiting for a towel. Fresh water coming as soon as you arrived. They remembered my room number, 1 day after coming! There is a beautiful selection of different restaurants. Oléa which was at the time Ramadan, a local buffet with authentic food, super tasty! Sophia: more fine dining, with nice selection of tapas portion food and romantic atmosphere. Sontaya: very tasty Asian food with a cool outdoor. The breakfast: a huge selection buffet, with a short à la carte which is everything included. AMAZING! The spa: the spa team are professional and quality of massage is good. The sauna et jacuzzi very good. Perhaps the Hammam needs to be refreshed. The whatsapp butler service is very good. And lastly the room. We had a ground floor room with a small outside space. Spacious bathroom. All very good. ( perhaps need to improve their slippers)

The St Regis was amazing! The beach and pool area was really fun, there were many restaurants and great food, and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. A special shout out to Kanchan and Sarita, who were particularly nice and chatty - we talked to them in the manhattan lounge (where you can get free champagne and strawberries at 6pm every day) all the time. The room was also very nice, with comfortable beds and a lovely bath. Overall we had an amazing experience here and we will definitely come back again!

This was our third visit to this wonderful hotel and the standard was still as high. We were greeted at reception and booked in, then taken to our room. The room was beautiful with plenty of space, a lovely comfy bed and a bathroom to die for. The room was kept spotless by our maid/s. We dined mainly in the Olea main restaurant where the buffet for both breakfast and dinner was extensive with beautifully cooked food. If you went away hungry it was your own fault! Marco, one of the managers in the Olea, always looked after us and remembered us from our previous visit. Lalit, one of the chefs cooked us a lovely steak meal on evening. I would like to mention two of the waitresses, Manisha and Gratia, who were very attentive and a breath of fresh air. We did have a meal in the Sontaya rstaurant which is Asian where the food was, again, excellent. We spent our days at the adult pool which was very quiet and were looked after by Banul who provided us with towels and bottles of water when needed. All in all we enjoyed every moment of our holiday and were very sad to leave. I am hoping that we shall be going back next year.

Horrible treatment at the St Regis Saadiyat. We were promised an upgrade and early check in etc. and after many phone calls with the hotel confirming the promises, we were given nothing! We have ambassador status and we are shocked at the unprofessional behavior of some of the staff (Azina Rymbek) and senior staff (Brandon Sequeira). Brandon was very rude and did not listen to our requests and did not even try to solve our problem at check-in. He was just talking nonstop and his way of dealing with us was to tell us: “stay or leave” that is your choice, which quiet frankly is not the way to talk to guests in a reputable resort like this one. Azina was a complete amateur clearly not her place to be helping “Bonvoy Ambassador” guests. Senior management should pay attention to these matters. Despite having a nice facility, service is key to longevity, even if you are full now, with this kind of attitude, you will be empty soon.
