Caramel - A Grecotel Resort to Live

Our stay at this hotel was truly exceptional. Without a doubt, it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect, with great attention to every detail. The buffet was outstanding, offering food of a quality you would expect from a Michelin-starred chef. The rooms were beautifully designed, immaculate, and extremely comfortable. We stayed here with our three-year-old son and had a wonderful experience. The hotel perfectly combines the elegance of a luxurious five-star boutique hotel with a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Its beachfront location makes it even more special. What impressed us the most was the exceptional service. Every member of the staff was genuinely kind, attentive, and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We would return without hesitation and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious, relaxing, and memorable holiday. It truly deserves five stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So many good things have been said about this hotel and we agree with them all. This is a top quality hotel and the management of this venue is top class. It excels with it's cleanliness and the high quality of the food. I am a gluten free person and the care and attention that I received from the kitchen and waiting staff went way beyond my expectations. The waiting staff and reception were always smiling and happy and were delightful everyday. I think the topping up of water constantly is done with efficiency but a wee bit annoying. Thanks to all staff who went beyond my dreams to keep me fed correctly, you are fantastic. The standard of our room was exceptional and the design of the complex was well planned which did not echo other hotels where multi floor blocks shadow the hotel grounds. The gardens were manicured and fabulous. We did look at other properties before booking and although they looked good we were put off by looking at boxes perched on a rocky terrain with access to a lot of rooms by golf buggies, this was not for us whereas the Caramel was perfect for our abilities and needs. There aren't many stairs to encounter so this suited us well. The staff are all accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them although we were surprised upon arrival at the lack of information given to us regarding facilities, ie: mealtimes and relevant activities. The reception staff were great and were always on hand for any problems you may have. The day before we left I found out about the Grecotel app, I could have done with that earlier really. The hotel is advertised as a family friendly venue but we were surprised to find so many very young children in and around the facilities. Why people are attracted to take such very young children, babes in arms, to such high temperatures seemed a little strange. Most were well behaved though and the hotel was not noisy. We were on a half board basis and although it appeared to be a good option we were surprised to find that the prices of wine and bottled water were on the high end. Evidently you don't pay for water at breakfast but you do in the evening, not sure why but that's the way it was. The A' la carte option is fine dining and memorable but don't be surprised by the bill, I highly recommend checking the prices before you book. There is no scrambling for sunbeds and towels during the day as this is well organised and spotless. There is a regular lifeguard on site at all times during the day. There is also poolside service if you require it. The beach is not glamourous but just ok. It didn't bother us as we stayed by the pool most days. I didn't venture into the sea as the rocks can be slippery and it was turbulent at the time. Even with attentive lifeguards in attendance we gave it a miss. Don't expect any up front entertainment but the live musicians compliment any evening. We have struggled to find faults with this hotel so if you want a quality vacation with upbeat people then book to stay here, it's wonderful! Just one more thing, we were at the hotel for about 6 days before we found out that the bottle of Prosecco in the room plus the contents of the mini bar on arrival were actually complimentary! Ooops but now we know. This is something else which maybe should have been explained to us. I do feel that a small explanation of the way the hotel works or a written sheet on arrival in the room would be helpful. Although I should have downloaded the app had I realised! If you take a bus ride to Rethymno which is around 20mins, it's well worth the visit but try to pick up a map, very handy as we got lost in the old town without one! We will know next time. We had the pleasure of staying at Grecotel Caramel in June with our son, and it was truly one of the most enjoyable family holidays we've had. What made this hotel stand out the most was the people. Every member of the team went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Their kindness, professionalism, and genuine desire to make every guest happy created such a warm and relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. The dining experience was outstanding. Every meal was fresh, beautifully prepared, and showcased delicious local flavors. Breakfast offered an impressive variety, while dinner was something we genuinely looked forward to every evening. A heartfelt thank you to the chefs and the restaurant team for consistently delivering such high-quality food and service. We would also like to recognize the wonderful GrecoKids team. They were incredibly kind, caring, and engaging with the children. Our son absolutely loved spending time with them. Our room was elegant, spotless, and impeccably maintained throughout our stay. The housekeeping team did an excellent job every day, and the attention to cleanliness was evident across the entire resort. Finally, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the hotel's management for creating such an exceptional guest experience. It is clear that great care is taken in every aspect of the hotel, from the service and hospitality to the overall atmosphere. We left with wonderful memories and are already looking forward to returning. Thank you to everyone at Grecotel Caramel for making our holiday so special.

We visited this hotel for a third time last week. We were apprehensive about going back this year, as the first two visits were so amazing and we were worried that another visit wouldn’t live up to past experiences. How wrong we were! Our visit to Grecotel Caramel was absolutely fantastic in every way! From the minute we went through the door, the service was truly impeccable! Every team member knowing our needs, even new employees, really meant a personal service and we felt that right away! As we expected, the food at the restaurants was so good, with the à la carte definitely at Michelin level, with wine choices full and varied. The beach is one of the best, small with attentive service. Mostly though, I have to call out every staff member for their attentive, personal service, their efficiency, and for all the wonderful personalities…we had a lot of fun along the way. Maria and Mr Oggi lead by example and were wonderful, and their whole team, from front of house, bars, restaurants, and housekeeping were first class. If you are looking for the most relaxing, enjoyable and highly personal holiday, look no further than this hotel. We’ve probably visited many hundred hotels around the world and this is top of our list and we look forward to visiting again.

The dining experience exceeded our expectations. Every meal was fresh , beautiful presented , and full f local flavours. Breakfast had an excellent variety , and dinner was always something to look forward to. Complements to the chefs restaurant staff for making every meal memorable .
