Kernos Beach

Just back from a wonderful break with friends to this beautifully situated hotel, right by the sea and it’s sandy beach. However that is about where the positives stopped. There are no lifts, and no offer of help to carry luggage to rooms. Rooms with sea views have no sun at all, bungalows have a bit of ground and you can find the sun, so mountain facing rooms have the best sun. Rooms in the main building are, in my opinion poorly lit, only one pillow each, but staff happy to bring extra on request, no kettle/tea or coffee making facilities, some kettles are available if asked for but they are limited. Footpaths around the site also poorly lit! Then there’s the restaurant, cold/lukewarm food, the variety of food is fine, lovely salads etc. but the ‘hot’ selection was heated by burners not heat lamps or water baths, so no way it could be kept pipping hot! So, so disappointing for a 4-5star hotel, it could have been so much better. Staff average, the taverna was a good find which was on site, good service from most staff but perhaps a few more on breakfast service would speed up the supply of tea and coffee, serviced at table…..long waits for hot water for that early cuppa us British love! Would not return, such a shame!

Good: staff friendly, unless you don’t order alcohol for dinner, great beach, spacious beautiful garden, free parking for a rental car Not good: house keeping, lots of guests had to change rooms, we booked superior bungalow and had no shower door, only one sunbed for two people, the food was terribly ungreek, always the same, we went out for dinner most times, drinks are not included in halfboard, wine is 18 Euro per 0,375 l, breakfast almost like dinner, you cannot help yourself to coffee, there is no choice of tea, only three sorts of juices, you have to pay 10 Euros accommodation tax per night and you are told so at the end of the stay,

The evening meal is shocking! This is not what I would expect from a four star hotel. I can’t believe TUI would still endorse this hotel. Lukewarm food, nowhere to sit, miserable & rude waiters. Get your act together please. The grounds, rooms & beach are lovely, but the food lets it down! Would definitely never recommend. Go elsewhere! Don’t bother to spend your hard earned cash here.

We stayed at Kernos Beach in July-August 2025 as a Family of ten for 12 Nights. Upon arrival around 9.30pm we were shocked at the very shabby reception area. We were then greeted by unfriendly reception staff and after Check in presented with dry inedible sandwiches as we had missed dinner. No basic Information was provided for meal times or the about the Resort. Upon entering our rooms our daughter and son-in-law with two small children discovered they had been given a room with four single beds and not the Family Bungalow they had booked and payed for. Also the air condition wasn‘t working. The whole family had trouble sleeping as it was so hot in the room. After complaining to uninterested receptin staff and the Hotel manager several times they were finally moved to the Bungalow they originally booked. ONLY to discover the Air Con wasn‘t working again!!!! The floors were dirty, overhead shower didn‘t work and, and, and. An absolute disaster. In our room Superior Bungalow ( very dated )with sea view, there were ants and cockroaches. The cleanlinesses decreased over time, Beach towels were not regularly replaced and were very worn. The bed was rarely made to standard and the parasol outside was all torn. We booked Half Board with breakfast and Dinner the Buffet was lacking in every respect. Most dishes were not appetizing and very poorly presented. Nothing was cooled dairy products, cold meats, salads etc, in this heat 35c!!! All plates were hot for cold food. Tables weren‘t cleared for new arrivals, or were left dirty for the whole setting. Drinks (over priced ) arrived at the end of the meal. Most of the staff were friendly but obviously they are understaffed. The Spa ??? leaves alot to be desired. Only over expensive massages, presented on a torn dirty Spa Menu. There was no Entertainment as stated in the Holiday broshure . The Hotel lies on one of Cretes finest beaches with great access from the Pool. Unfortunately everything around the Pool is rusty. The Management really needs to be questioned here. Obviously not enough is being invested in standards and resourses. With alot of TLC, good hospitality values, well trained staff andattention to detail the Hotel has alot of potential. Definitely not value for money. We will not be returning.

In 2015 we had our first stay at Kernos Beach and were so enamored with our experience we have returned several times and are very pleased to say the feeling remains the same. The staff are very friendly and experienced and as several have been with the resort for many years it gives you a sense of family that is special and appreciated including our friends Aris, Maria & Kosta. The facilities, location and amenities are excellent with a great selection of food including BBQ events with generous local offerings that are a real treat. The beach is well maintained with lots of space for all without feeling crowded or you can enjoy a very large swimming pool and the grounds are extensive and are maintained in an authentic manner that reflects region. In a month will be returning and plan to celebrate our tenth anniversary since our first visit to Kernos Beach and cannot wait to enjoy a place that has truly been very special for us.
