Nema Design Hotel & Spa

My mother and I stayed at NEMA Design Hotel & Spa for seven nights in late October 2025, and we had a truly wonderful experience. The architectural design of the hotel is stunning—minimalistic and modern, yet softened by abundant greenery so that it blends harmoniously with the surrounding environment and creates the soothing atmosphere of a wellness retreat. The grounds and buildings felt consistently serene, which helped us relax from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a Garden View Retreat room, which was comfortable and beautifully designed. The bed was large and very comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the bathroom featured a stylish modern layout with an excellent shower. Our spacious balcony overlooked the gardens and even offered a partial sea view. Housekeeping kept the room spotless, provided fresh towels daily, and restocked the mini-fridge with bottled water each day—a thoughtful touch. The pool area is lovely and, like all areas of the hotel, kept impeccably clean. The beach, located just across the road from the main entrance, is easily accessible, and there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers available at both locations. Staff are always on hand at the pool and beach to take food and drink orders, and the hotel’s app makes ordering especially convenient. The food at both the Euphoria restaurant and Rizes à la carte gastrobar was exceptional—the best we have ever experienced at a hotel. We would happily return to NEMA for the gastronomy alone! Both restaurants offer a relaxed, elegant atmosphere, and we thoroughly enjoyed each meal. The customer experience provided by the staff was outstanding. We were warmly greeted each day with a friendly 'Kaliméra' and the staff were consistently attentive and highly professional across the board. A special mention goes to Liana, the Guest Experience Manager, who was incredibly friendly and approachable and made us feel right at home from the first morning of our stay; Madrin, who always took the time for a pleasant chat and impressed us with his enthusiasm for and knowledge of Cretan history and culture - very helpful when planning a sightseeing day trip to Heraklion; and Phaedra/Fedra (sp.) whose warm, positive energy made every restaurant visit a pleasure. The hotel is just a short walk from the village of Analipsi, a charming blend of tradition and modernity. The village offers a range of souvenir boutiques, pharmacies, convenience stores, and several family-run tavernas. We dined at Krina and Roukounas, enjoying excellent meals at both. The seafront walk is also lovely, and we particularly enjoyed our daily visits to the small Greek Orthodox churches—one of which is situated directly opposite the hotel’s entrance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at NEMA and in Analipsi and would love to return in the future to experience more of this wonderful five-star Greek hospitality.

We booked the hotel based on how it looked in the pictures and it did not disappoint. The staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was delicious and the rooms were super clean. Looking forward to returning soon

Plenty of communication before arrival, including arrangement of transfer and pre-registration. All very friendly and professional. On arrival, first impression is of high quality, modern architecture. Throughout our stay it was kept spotlessly clean by the hardworking staff. Our room, with private plunge pool, was a little small and the lighting is very dark. But it had everything needed and, again, was kept so clean by the housekeeping staff. The main pool area is large with high quality beds and plenty of staff on hand to meet any needs. Shout out to little Katerina who was so attentive; she missed nothing. Both breakfast and the themed dinners were consistently high quality with many options. The mexican themed night was the weakest in a strong field (where was the promised guacamole?). Small criticism about the upselling at dinner. At breakfast there is still and sparkling water to help yourself to. At dinner, you have to buy bottled water. And the wines are expensive, starting at about EU35 a bottle. It would be nice to see more affordable (house) options, especially as there are plenty of modestly priced quality options available in the local shops. The infastructure of the hotel is excellent, but the staff make the difference. Consistently friendly and professional ... a testament to the recruitment and training that must be going on in the background. As well as Katerina, I'd also pick out the young Dutch intern (so sorry I didn't get her name) as being an ambassador for the hotel. Would we go back? We intend to, in the spring ...

A gem of a hotel which offers a relaxing adults only experience. The staff are welcoming from arrival offering a welcome drink at check-in with no hard sell on extras which you can get with other hotels less focussed on customer service. NEMA is a modern designer hotel with manicured gardens although some rooms are on the small side and I would recommend a larger room selection when bookings (comfort type or higher). The poolside can get busy but the hotel has its own area of beach across the road from the hotel with free sun beds and umbrellas. The gym is well equipped but on the small side and a spa offering a range of treatments is available although we didn’t try these services. Breakfast is extensive offering a range of healthy and traditional options although the coffee could be better. From 11am daily, a waited poolside service is available until 6pm and room service is also available. The evening meal is buffet style although we didn’t include this in our booking so can’t comment. We however, dine at Rizes restaurant which is part of the hotel and is open to non-residents offering sophisticated quality European cuisine which would not be out of place in any cosmopolitan city. There is an extensive drinks menu available from 11am. The team at NEMA, from cleaning staff, gardeners to waiters and management are really focussed on a quality experience and delivering great customer service. For example, when we reported an issue with our room on arrival, it was swiftly resolved with no fuss. We would certainly consider a return to this or another NEMA hotel based on our visit.

Great location in quiet village just near the sea, plenty of small villages around and 25min drive from Hersonissos. Amazing atmosphere in the hotel, tranquility all around. Rooms are not big but got everything you need, a little bit too dark. We were lucky to get room with huge balcony and even fireplace in the middle. Hotel feels very expensive with quality materials used everywhere, cleaners are doing amazing job to keep even concrete around hotel spotless. Staff is extremely friendly and caring, we felt very valued from the first moment we entered hotel until the last moment when we got help loading our luggage in the car, absolutely exceptional service. Breakfast buffet was outstanding, fresh juice and coffee was exactly what we needed every morning, big variety of food from traditional Greek to classic European. Cocktails were really nice at the bar too. Overall we were extremely pleased with absolutely everything in this hotel.
