Asterias Beach Resort

The room - spacious and overall ok. For the hotter months you need to request additional room keys so that the air-conditioning stays on. The third bed in the room for our daughter was tiny, ideally should be larger. Drinks - all the traditional cocktails were terrible, we couldn't drink them. Stick to the beer, easy mixers, and if you like coffee ask for a cafe frappe with Irish cream. Food - was ok. Nothing to phone home about it suppose but all edible and nice enough. Pool - pools were good, large with a kids pool which my daughter had great fun in.

A lovely hotel. We had a lovely 7 day all inclusive holiday. To summarise our thoughts below: Positives: - Beautiful setting. The hotel grounds is well maintained. Lots of colour. Maintenance staff clearly take pride in their work around the hotel. - very friendly staff. They were interactive with our child and knew our drinks orders. Nothing was too much to ask. We were literally the last guests to leave the hotel today (it is not closed for winter) and they gave us a late check out at no extra cost. - we upgraded to a large family room and it was LARGE. - there is a path that leads you directly to the beach. There is a beach shack that serves all inclusive drinks on the beach too which is a plus as you don’t have to walk all the way back to the snack shack. - the snack shack chef made the yummies fresh gyros each day. A real perk. - A really good amount of sun loungers. - lovely seating area for the restaurant. - lovely bar area in the evening. They also have board games and cards etc out for you to use. A nice touch. - spa on site with good deals. 30 euros for a massage and facial. - indoor pool. - rooms cleaned and tidied every day. - air conditioning - good range of all inclusive drinks. There are some cocktails you have to pay for but this did not interfere with our experience. - mini market on site. Perhaps send some buckets and spades to buy down to the beach shack so parents don’t have to walk all the way to one end of the hotel and then back again. Some cons: - the pools were absolutely freezing. It didn’t stop our child from spending ages in the pool but for a 5* hotel I would have expected heated pools as the season came to an end. It did stop us making full use of the pool which is a shame as it’s one of our favourite parts of holidaying. - the restaurant provided good evening and lunch choices but often it was only like warm food as it’s a buffet. No pitta breads at all! Breakfast was really repetitive and no variety between the days. This could be an improvement. The food that was served during the day however was all delicious. - the entertainment was a real mixed bag. We understood it was coming to the end of the season but the entertainment felt half hearted and wasn’t really drawing people in. This is a huge difference to previous 5* hotels we have stayed at where the entertainment is bubbly and interactive. Sadly, you could hear the vibe from the hotel next door more than you could from the actual hotel. The two young ladies who did the kids mini disco every night were good with the kids and they were part of a team that organised a Halloween party for the children which was a nice touch. - the bathroom in our accommodation was very tired and could do with a refresh. Tui rate this hotel as 5* and I can definitely see potential of this however I would say our experience was more alike to a solid 4* during our October getaway.

The Asterias beach Hotel is part of the Asterias Beach Resort consisting of two other sister hotels. On arrival we were informed that our room was not ready so we had to stay in the sister Methos hotel on our first night ,which wasn't ideal but the hotel offered the same facilities and we liked the restaurant's ambience .We spoke with our Tui rep and were compensated for this inconvenience . However, we were not permitted to use the facilities or restaurants in either of the other hotels after that first night, which was disappointing. The gardens and pools are kept immaculate and there are sun loungers to use on the pebbly beach (free of charge). A quiet resort and not a lot of nightlife happening but we knew this when we booked our holiday. The room and facilities throughout the hotel were kept exceptionally clean by the ever friendly staff. The hotel restaurant offered a good choice of dishes which we enjoyed. The staff in the restaurant were super friendly and most efficient. The restaurant was bright and cool, not a romantic venue in our opinion, but there was always plenty of tables available and outdoor seating was good. The hotel is approximately halfway between Rhodes Old town and Lindos and we went on an Island tour booked with Tui which was excellent. Overall we had a good holiday and it offered great value for money.

We have just returned from 11 nights stay at this hotel with friends. We arrived late and were greeted by friendly reception staff who explained everything to us. We were offered food and drink but declined as we were tired after travelling and wanted to rest. We were taken to our room which was near the adult pool in a buggy by a very nice man. Rooms: We booked a studio, it was so spacious, I counted 10 plug sockets which was more than adequate. You do need a travel adapter to be able to use the English plugs. The room had everything we needed, tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge. There was only one glass bottle of water in the fridge which you had to refill yourself from around the complex. Considering only plastic is allowed around the pool bar area I did not like this idea as it could pose a health and safety risk if dropped so we bought some plastic bottles from the supermarket across the road and refilled them as needed. The tea and coffee were not replenished daily but you could get sachets in restaurant and take them to your room. The towels were thin and grey looking and one day we were left a bath towel with a hole in which I reported to the housekeeper and were given another. Not what you would expect of a 5* hotel. Pool towels were available from spa and you could change them as often as required. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day by friendly staff. Restaurant: Good selection of food in restaurant to cater for all nationalities however the majority of this was cold or just warm which spoiled it for me. I am a diabetic and need to be careful with foods, there were plenty options available, but I would have liked some crackers to accompany the cheese and had to buy some at the supermarket. Marina in the restaurant worked tirelessly to make sure we had everything we needed. We had 1 evening meal at the a la carte restaurant and found this to be very good, calm and peaceful and being served was lovely. Bars: The drinks were good, some lovely cocktails but premium drinks were not included in the AI package. There was not much seating in the bar resulting in having to sit outdoors which was cold on an October night. The entertainment was good when professional acts were brought in otherwise the bingo, karaoke and quizzes left a lot to be desired. We decided to spend our time by adult pool which was lovely and relaxing, and we never had any problem in getting a sun lounger. The loungers were super comfy around the pool. The pool very cold but nice once you got in, a heated pool would have been a nice touch. The sea was much warmer however swim shoes are a must to navigate over the sand and shingle beach and stones in sea. The loungers on the beach are in need of an upgrade as is the beach bar which looks like a run-down shack. Environment: The hotel and grounds were lovely and clean could not fault it , the gardeners were around keeping everything nice. All the staff I found friendly and hardworking, nothing was too much trouble for them to ensure we had a good holiday. All things considered we had a good time and would return to Rhodes in a different area.

We have just returned from a great week at this hotel. We arrived late, A plate of cold meats & cheeses was available in the restaurant & wine!, this was lovely after a long day of travel. We had a sea view room,(1229) it was a lovely size, and the balcony was perfect, glass front making a clear view, table chairs and a drying rack, the view was really good, over the lovely pool and the sea beyond. The room had a fridge & a kettle very useful. The towels were very poor, way too small and so thin. The hotel is so clean, it looks clean it smells clean it is clean, rooms were cleaned while we had breakfast, the whole hotel is kept immaculate. All the staff were so friendly and very helpful. Always there to help you. We hired a car for 3 days (Not from the hire company in the hotel but from a company further along the road as they gave fully comp cover, no excess) the car was brought to the hotel, there is plenty of on site parking which is great. We were out every day either in the car or walking to Kolymbia, this is what we do on holiday, explore the county we are in, Rhodes was lovely, so much to see, the walk to Kolombia is easy, flat walk, a number of shops and Tavernas, there is a quaint harbour with a pretty church and boat hire and a further cove with a few cafes, fish restaurant etc, and more boat hire. The hotel is all inclusive, breakfast was the usual selection of cooked and cold food, plenty of choice. We liked to sit outside and enjoy the view, We had 2 lunches ( as we were out exploring, we ate lunch out, often having our main meal at lunch time as we wanted to eat local Greek food and fresh fish) We had only 1 evening meal at the buffet,the other times we just had something light as we had eaten at lunch time, We found the food looked good and lots of choice but the problem we found was the food was mostly cold/lukewarm, such a shame, as the Asian night had lovely beef stir fry but it was cold, the fish at lunch time again was cold as were most things on the buffet that we tried, there was a large choice of very tasty salads , there was tzatziki but never pitta bread! We also wished there was a wider choice of Greek food on offer. We did see Gyros were being cooked at the pool bar but never got to try. The desserts were lovely, lots of fresh fruit, cakes and yummy baklava although the desserts never had labels so it was guess what the mousse/cake flavour was, this failed a few times, when I thought it was a lemon pudding and it turned out to be banana, which I really don’t like! We also had 1 evening meal at the al la carte restaurant, this was excellent, really enjoyed the meal and we were able to purchase a bottle of very good Rhodes wine, it was very quiet on our evening, I think more people should take up the chance to eat there, the setting is lovely tto by the adult pool, all lit up in the evening The drinks were good, some lovely cocktails included for free, every day there was a 20% off the cocktail of the day( as there was a menu for premium drinks at a price) We did do a number of these and they were really good, ( worked out about £6 for each cocktail) The shop on site is cheaper for water than the supermarket across the road. We only used the sunbeds a few times but they were comfy and plenty of them,
