We stayed at La Marquise from 11th July to 21st July. Whilst on the whole we had a lovely stay there are certainly things that could be improved on and a couple of things that sullied the experience. We stayed in the adult only area on half board. This gave us the black card privileges which included 2 visits to the Asian Corner, L’Etoile and Grill Corner. You can also have your breakfast in L’Etoile. If you chose to do this be aware that all the food choices that are available in the main restaurant are not available here. The food quality in all the restaurants is lovely, We thoroughly enjoyed the food and service we received in the restaurants. We were not overly keen on the Grill Corner (personal opinion) and on the night we went I believe they must have been short staffed as it took over 3 hours. The serving staff are all courteous and friendly, especially Hasan in the main restaurant, the reception and management are a different gravy. They are aloof, stand offish and bordering on rude. They are also inconsistent in their replies. Being on half board when you arrive you get a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, the water is not replenished, after asking reception I was told I could come and ask for water at reception and get given bottles. I did this and was told that the water was only for when you check out. Interestingly when checking out I did not get given any and had to ask for it. Having stayed here 3 years ago in an adult area junior suite we knew what to expect, however the level of cleaning has definitely gone downhill and the little touches are missing. The floor in our room left our feet black every day. The bedding was creased even when fresh and also stained. If you are a gym bunny be warned this was one of the worst hotel gyms I have ever used. The equipment is not fit for purpose, also be warned there is no age restriction, on one occasion there was a 5-6ish year old on the machines. The air con may be controlled by room but it never gets below 22 no matter what you set it at or how long it runs. This was the case in both rooms we were in so it’s not a room issue. Also be warned the coffee is not great. It is a shame to have an actual coffee house on site and then only serve pod coffee even the greek coffee was pod machine coffee. We ventured out of the resort and turned right there is a coffee shop not far and also a shopping centre with another coffee house too. We hired a car from the gentleman next to the main restaurant as we did last time and found this easy, straightforward and a good price. We paid for late check out, as we were flying overnight, which was £117, we stupidly assumed we would just stay in the room we were in however we decided to check at reception the day before after breakfast, we were told they couldn’t tell us if we would be moved or not and to return at 3, I went back at 3 and got told to return at 4. When I returned they confirmed we would be moved although they could not say where and acted like it was a super easy transition. For us it meant a lot of upheaval on our last evening as we spent it packing up and sorting out. The next morning also after breakfast was spent hanging round and moving rooms. We were moved into the main building (not even in the adult area which is what we had paid for) because of this we ended up with no pool near us and a balcony with no sun. We spent a bit of time on the beach but it marred our last day as we would have just enjoyed the adult only area and relaxed by the pool. The icing on the cake was when we had our evening meal my husband wore trousers as is the requirement. As we had checked out of our room we were given a bill for drinks, we thought we would need to pay at reception for this so after our meal we left the restaurant and my husband changed back into his shorts as it was very warm, we then tried to pay the bill and were told we needed to pay in the restaurant, so we headed back in and was immediately stopped by a suit and told we couldn’t enter as he was wearing shorts this was not done particularly calmly or politely, we then explained the situation and rather than just take us to the card machine we were made to stand in the entrance like naughty children whilst he messed about for 10 minutes to find one with enough charge to bring out to us. Unfortunately due to the issues mentioned and a few that I haven’t this will be our last visit to La Marquise.
As a returning customer (was our 8 time) we enjoyed another vacation at La Marquise. (Family of 4 and both grand parents for 14 days). We all had black cards (which comes with the type of room) which gave us the possibility to eat in the a la carte restaurants on the domain. The short summary is that it was again a very nice vacation. The accommodation was superb. As a small example, we requested to get our room cleaned in the morning (our kids need to have their rest in the afternoon) and sure enough, every day it was done (except one time when there was a misunderstanding but that was solved in an instant). The room was always clean so nothing to complain there! Our parents stayed in the adults only area, and also there, nothing but good memories. The food is also really nice. As mentioned before, we did had black cards, which gave us the possibility to eat in L'Etoile, Asian Corner, Grill and Gondola at noon. Food is very nice. One remark, at the gondola at noon, the portions are VERY large, so even if you need to pay for it, you get a lot for your money! The only downside was that in the evening we were still digesting the food at noon. The captains and their teams did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Special thanks to Markel, Michael, the captain at noon in gondola and in the evening at the grill (apologies that I cannot remember all the names). Also, Kostas and Yonida in the morning and at noon for taking care of our kids. Every morning, fresh cold chocolate milk, Cheese, fresh fruit at our table ... Its those small things that makes or breaks a holiday. So big thank you for that! There is one remark that I want to pass as well. I never understood why people want to eat in shorts in the evening. The current procedure is that you cannot eat in the main area (buffet) in shorts but you can in the a la carte restaurants. I would turn that around (shorts in buffet, not in a la carte). If its for the heat, then I can assure you that I did not had a problem during those 14 days. I always wonder how people would react to see people eating in their shorts in their own country in a restaurant. Bet they would not be let in (at least in a real a la carte). So why allow it in a hotel? Besides that remark, my last special appreciation I want to hand out is for Christina. Always there when you need her, even before we arrived through mail. Big thank you for making sure that our vacation was one not to forget (in the good sense). We will definitely come back next year!
Bathrooms in the suite were dated. However the staff throughout the dining area were exceptionally helpful and curtious and delivered a great service
The staff at this resort are without doubt the hotels biggest asset. This was our third visit to La Marquise since 2020 and many of the same staff are still greeting and looking after guests with the same enthusiasm as per our first visit. The main hotel dining areas and bars are well maintained and looked after. Housekeeping staff do a first class job keeping your rooms clean and tidy and replenishing water etc. We found the food to be excellent and the quality of drinks on our all inclusive TUI package were very good. We tried all the pool areas [not Adult only] and they were lovely. Just the job for a relaxing day enjoying the superb weather. Always plenty of sunbeams and the pools gradually got warmer through the day. But, in our opinion the rooms [we stayed in the garden view rooms almost at the front of the complex] are now looking a little tired and could do with updating. All in all, a very nice stay and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.
An absolutely excellent complex in every respect. Perfect for families seeking peace and quiet, yet also wanting access to nearby tourist and cultural activities. Great transport links to various places worth exploring. A beach that is easy and safe for swimming. Several pools—feeling almost private—right in front of our room. And what can I say about the food? We’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, but this was truly outstanding. The variety changed daily, and the quality was exceptional. A special shout-out to the extraordinary ERNIE, who manages the dining service. A professional with that level of attentiveness is a rarity these days. To us, he’s the boss—the master! A genuine human being and a true professional ! Yes, yes, yes—I highly recommend it; I’m still starry-eyed and filled with wonderful memories. Love La Marquise.
