Rhodos Horizon Marina

We had the pleasure of staying at the Horizon Marina during its last week of opening before winter closing. We were greeted warmly with a glass of fizz and shown to our room which was on the fourth floor with a sea view. It was a gorgeous room, spotlessly clean with an amazingly comfy bed and great facilities. There was ample wardrobe space and a dressing table which also housed a fridge with complimentary water, beer and soft drinks and snacks. We were also given a bottle of wine and ouzo and a gift of honey and sesame snacks to take home. Above and beyond my expectations ! The bathroom is perfectly adequate although small we managed fine. The shower is fantastic - powerful and plenty of hot water at all times. It is easy to angle the shower so that the water stays within the bath. The room was kept spotlessly clean and the cleaners were fantastic. All the staff we encountered were friendly and obliging! I cannot help but mention the lovely Anastasia who is an absolute asset to the hotel as she is so personable, happy and delightful to all. The food was great ! There was always plenty of choice of hot dishes with the bonus of the cooking area with different meats etc every day. The salad was fresh and everything was beautifully presented. Plenty of cheeses, meats and prepared salads such as tuna as well as individual components to make your own. There were so many deserts to choose from including traditional Greek baclava. There was also a variety of ice cream. The choice of cocktails in the bar was fab and they tasted delicious. We did not use the pool as we prefer the beach which was only 5 minutes away with a crossing over the main road which most of the time we did not need to “press the button” The beach is sandy and the water incredibly shallow. I would return to the hotel in a heart beat even though the surrounding area isn’t the prettiest. It is only a 20 minutes away walk into Rhodes town and nice and peaceful away from the centre. We really had a lovely stay !

We had a lovely 5 night stay here. Two rooms looking over the pool. Decent size rooms, bathrooms not the biggest but perfectly adequate. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our cleaning lady kept everything spotless. All the communal areas were very clean and tidy too. Complimentary soft drinks, water, wine and welcome gift were a really lovely touch. There were plenty of sunbeds at the time we visited so no issue there. Pool towels provided and could be exchanged for fresh every day. Food was good. Lots of options to suit everyone and good quality. The hotel is so close to the beach less than 5 mins. It’s is 20 mins walk to the old town which is absolutely stunning. You can get a taxi for around €10 or there is a bus opposite the hotel we didn’t use this though. There are a few restaurants close by. We went to one and it was very reasonable. The hotel is not particularly in a tourist area but is close to marina and most other things. I think it’s in a good location.

I would disagree with those that say it’s a 3* hotel its definitely 4* for Greece Agree with all the good comments can’t fault the food, staff, rooms. Great to have serve yourself stations for drinks and the evening cocktails were excellent. Not keen on the shower over the bath and would be good to have a toilet in the reception area rather just 2 ladies loos on the bottom floor. Otherwise a fabulous stay.

After the coach transfer we arrived at about 2 A.M local time. As well as the prosecco we had sandwiches apples and drinks waiting for us. We found that all of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. The rooms were immaculate, with the cleaner doing an amazing job. Yes the bathrooms are quite small and could possibly benefit from hooks on the door to hang your clothes. The restaurant staff were also great. They were very attentive and offered to fetch drinks. Tables were cleared quickly. They were very friendly too and got to know us over the week. The issues that we had was what not to choose, as the variety was vast. Possibly some of the guests need to have a bit more understanding, especially if you spend more than a nano second deciding what to have. The location may not have been the most delightful, but it is a base. We took the pleasant walk to town and the harbours most days. The yacht marina has cafe bars. Watching the yachts was interesting [to us]. Maybe one day! If you don't want to walk then the number 6 bus stop is just across the road, although we never used it. It is timed to arrive at 18 minutes past, but this could be up to about half past. Yes, there is a dual carriageway to cross, but this has crossings with lights, so is perfectly dafe. Mugz coffee shop just down the street deserves a mention. The coffee is great and the music even better. (Louis Armstrong, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis etc.) The walk towards Lidl isn't recommended. Near the roundabout there is rubbish and some questionable characters. Thank you.

Most reviews are very accurate. The hotel is spotless and the cleaners work very hard to keep it so. The food and drinks are good with enough variety to satisfy most needs. Gym is adequate for those wanting to keep up their workouts whilst on holiday. Two negatives which are mentioned by many is the very small bathroom. A sliding door at the entrance to the bathroom would be much better and allow a bit more space. The second negative being the evening entertainment which in my opinion is very poor. There is a nice bar nearby which is called DOT. All in all a great base to explore the old Rhodes town and its beauty.
