Riu Palace Calypso

I had a lovely stay at the Riu Palace overall. The location is perfect, and the hotel itself is beautiful. However, compared to other Riu Palace hotels I have stayed in, this one lacks the same level of attention to detail. The biggest disappointment was the service. There was very little warmth from the staff, with no simple greetings such as "hola," which made the atmosphere feel less welcoming than expected. Rebeca at the pool bar was particularly rude and unfriendly during my lunch, making me feel very unwelcome. At dinner, drinks were often placed on the table abruptly, as though serving us was an inconvenience. I was allocated a disabled-access room. While the room itself was lovely, I did not require an accessible room. In addition, the corridor outside the room appeared rather scruffy and lacked the standard of presentation I would expect from a newly refurbished hotel. Unfortunately, during the final two nights of my stay, I had HUGE cockroaches enter the room, which I believe were coming through the shower drains. I reported this to reception, but no action appeared to be taken, which was disappointing. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and enjoyed the excellent location and the hotel itself. However, the service and overall attention to detail fall short of the high standards I have come to expect from the Riu Palace brand and would benefit from improvement.

This is around the 8th time we’ve stayed at the Riu Calypso, we’ve only ever been in the Winter before this trip, but as we love it here so much we decided to come for my 60th. All I can say is thank you, as always we were made to feel special by all the great staff, We’ll see you all again in January.

As a frequent visitor to Fuerteventura and Jandia (at least once per year for the past 20 years) this has been my favorite hotel to stay at.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Our stay was very chilled and relaxing. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. In the restaurant Viktor always remembered our drinks order for Breakfast and Dinner. The selection of food on offer at Breakfast and Dinner is great. The whole hotel was super clean and tidy. For me the only negative would be the transfer time from the airport which is long, but because I loved the hotel, I’d probably do it again! 😁

Quite decent stay BUT : - water NOT included in dinners (!) - only payable option - not everyone of the stuff speaking English - air conditioning not so well in rooms - awful lift (sometimes neverending waiting for it to come...). To sum up - a bit disappointment as for a Riu hotel : the price for the stay too high for the conditions provided. In my humble opinion - apart from the great cuisine - the hotel should be a 3 star one.
