Best Western Grand Hotel Guinigi

A very nice hotel outside the city walls with free parking! We left our car and walked to Lucca everyday! The room was large, clean, with very helpful staff! Highly recommend! Breakfast was very good! We enjoyed having a cocktail and sitting outside on the patio at night!

This hotel is a “tired” Best Western located over a mile out of Lucca. It has no facilities such as a pool etc and when we were there - as a Saga Group - the food was extremely poor. This might be because of the budget they are given but you don’t expect to come to Italy and be so poorly fed! The staff were very nice but we barely saw any other guests apart from tour groups, which they must rely on. I wouldn’t stay there again and if you have to - just do bed and breakfast and go elsewhere for some decent food. It might be Saga’s fault but in the end it is the hotel that will get the criticism.

I am writing this review because of the unacceptable financial damage and stress caused to my father during his stay (July 23-25). Through the hotel's front desk, a transfer from Lucca to Milano Malpensa Airport was arranged for him. The receptionist explicitly and repeatedly confirmed the price as €310. However, the external transport company they chose (Lucca Tour) charged a staggering €810 from my father's credit card without his consent—a blatant unauthorized overcharge of €500! When I contacted the hotel to resolve this issue for my father, the management completely washed their hands of it, claiming they were "just intermediaries" and that we should deal with the transport firm ourselves. To make things worse, they failed to provide any official fiscal receipt or invoice at the time of payment. Furthermore, Best Western Corporate Customer Care is also completely silent and ignoring this €500 fraud case! We have already initiated a formal chargeback through our bank, and filed official reports with Italian authorities for "Appropriazione indebita". Do not trust this hotel or this brand with your family or your money!

Stayed here with friends for a short break to take in Florence and Pisa. Well located for both and a cab ride away from Luca, a lovely, walled town with great shops and restaurants. Also only 45 mins from Pisa airport. Hotel had plenty of parking, friendly reception, good service and clean, spacious rooms. The decor is a bit bland and dingy but the hotel is clean and well maintained. Breakfast was pretty average. Seating area outside the hotel not big enough for the numbers that want to sit out and the bar only opens at 5pm. However, all in all, good value, clean, great location and served its purpose well.

Hotel was part of tour group Riviera , too far from the centre , bar not open til 5pm , had to get a taxi there and back to town as nothing to do in hotel tbh
