Over all this was a fantastic resort and an idyllic location. The transfer from Male to the island vía sea plane was totally seemleas. We were met by the lovely front of house staff and taken to lunch. Check-in was painless and we were escorted to our lovely beachside duplex villa. Now - I know people crave the water villas but I don’t see the attraction. We had a lovely seating area by our villa, our own little private palm tree shaded section of beach out front with our dedicated sun-beds that opened to the main beach. There are no spare sun beds on the beach, which keeps the beach lovely and uncluttered and you are therefore always absorbing the beauty of it all. The water - oh man! Never seen water this aqua blue before, and the snorkelling is just amazing. We ate at the buffet restaurant and the Thai and Italian - Thai was just superb!! The staff, from the chaps that swept the leaves to the senior staff were friendly and fabulous. The resort is super clean, intimate and very peaceful. It was so refreshing to ditch the shoes and flip flops and spend every day barefoot. No fancy shoes required. The infinity pool is wonderful and fresh towels are available nearby (although you have your own in your villa. There are two bars but we preferred the one near reception as it was more quiet and more adult - there were more families in the other. We had a complimentary sunset cruise which was fun and we had the pleasure of seeing dolphins!! The reason for the 4 stars (which has already been fed back and acknowledged by the resort: Buffet breakfast on occasion was luke warm at best, although tremendous choice. Waiting service can be a bit haphazard with multiple people asking you if they can get you a drink etc - not major - but when the drink never arrived you lost track of who you asked. Also the booking app for the restaurant never found a free table - although there are empty spaces. But - all in all a fantastic stay!

My wife and I celebrated our silver wedding anniversary here, spending 8 days at this beautiful resort. The weather was perfect, sea conditions were great, and snorkelling around the house reef was awesome! We stayed in Villa 63, which offered us not only direct access to the reef below, but also a fantastic view of the sunset every evening. The interior of the villa was spotless and spacious. Even though this was high season, the resort and facilities never felt crowded. On the contrary, our whole stay was tranquil and idyllic. We're really grateful to have been put on an early flight, and then ushered from the jetty straight to The Club for some breakfast while our villa was being made ready (which didn't take long). The staff here are great, and made us feel very welcome. A big thank you to Salman, who received us and oriented us to our villa; Rishard for making us feel at home in The Club every day; our hardworking and discreet housekeeper Amanulla; Meaw and the crew at Suan Bua Restaurant for their consistently excellent service; Desmond, May, June and Yaeesh at the Reef Restaurant for their pro-activeness and attentiveness, and the super-friendly and caring excursion guides at Best Dives. Dining was excellent. Suan Bua offers fantastic authentic Thai cuisine. Mare Azzuro's Italian fare was super tasty too. The buffet spread at the Reef Restaurant is much improved from our last stay in Nov 2024. The quiet and ambiance in The Club was another very welcome perk. A big thank you also to Nalin, Chris, Gracy and Riyaz for all their help over email while we organised this trip. This was a special holiday that we'd been looking forward to for many months, and we've left magical Machchafushi Island Resort & Spa with very, very fond memories indeed!
