Summer Island Maldives

We spent 9 days at the Summer Island resort in early May. It was our 5th stay at this hotel and as always we booked the AI ​​meal plan - to avoid additional costs. Since we are experienced travelers (15 times in Maldives) we can compare and Summer Island has grown to our hearts. From the first steps after our arrival at the resort we felt a friendly atmosphere. Immediate check in and accommodation was a reward for a long journey with a transfer in Abu Dhabi. Our bungalow No. 380 met our expectations. Peace and quiet in today's turbulent times was a balm for our soul. Also the underwater world in the nearby lagoon was an attraction for us for snorkeling. I can confirm that the area around the resort has probably the largest number of sea anemones and Nemo fish of any hotel we have visited so far. The condition of the corals is gradually improving, which makes us very happy. The hotel was less than half full, so snorkeling around the resort was also very relaxing. Most guests took advantage of the daily snorkeling trips. We were only there once. We saw turtles, but otherwise everything is more beautiful at home in the coral garden. Everything in the resort runs smoothly thanks to experienced managers. All employees do their job very professionally. Several bartenders from Navi bar recognized us from previous visits even though it was 4 or more years ago. They even remembered our favorite drink from the past: Clear rum & beer with foam.We would like to thank all staff of this bar (Kumura, Pratheesh, Maneesh, Menaka...), all waiters in the Samuga restaurant and others who took care of us. Just back from 10 days on summer island, this was our 3rd visit but with a 15 year gap between visits and quite a last minute booking due to our march visit to another island in the Maldives being cancelled due to the middle east war. Lovely island and the staff can’t do enough for you especially there restaurant staff, my wife follows a vegan diet , even though it felt as if there were options available on the buffet the chefs insisted on putting a meal together for her at both lunch and dinner to ensure what she ate was vegan, very much appreciated and we send you all our thanks for your help during our stay. Drinks served at the beach bar were great and again the staff are excellent, thank you everyone. Accommodation is great we stayed in a beach bungalow, originally we were on the sunrise side of the island but asked to move after 1 day due to it being absolutely still and no breeze on the beach, this request was actioned quickly once requested and we moved rooms within a couple of hours, great service again by everyone, our was serviced twice daily and was always spotless, thank you to our room boy😊 We used the spar and would recommend this during your stay good price and a great Adam & Eve massage in what was the original sea bungalows. Overall we had a great stay, the weather was quite unsettled but we only had 1 real day of rain but lots of cloudy days with sunny outbursts, no one can control this and we didn’t let it spoil our stay, our disappointment was the snorkelling, we felt there was a lack of sea life around the island itself compared to our last visit, especially around the pier where before there was lots to see, we did go out on the boat to the reef but felt this was also poor and quite rushed compared to what we have experienced on other islands, we of course appreciate that the marine life in the Maldives is suffering due to the increasing sea temperatures, but this we felt was pretty poor and sad and also you have to rent a life jacket if needed at $10 a day, we’ve not had to pay on other islands or for snorkel equipment if needed, all were chargeable here! Overall great relaxing holiday but will probably not return due to the snorkelling.

We’ve visited many resorts in the Maldives over the last 30 years, and we have to say—we truly loved Summer Island. All the outlets (restaurant, bar, shop, etc.) are tastefully designed, built with high-quality wood, and exceptionally well-maintained. The island’s beaches and lush vegetation are also beautiful.The food is varied and exactly what you’d expect from a great 4-star resort. We especially enjoyed the bar, where you can watch stunning sunsets while listening to live music in the evenings. The entire staff is very friendly, but we’d like to give a special shout-out to the incredibly professional dive center team, especially Natalia, Robin, and Nishag. The equipment and organization are flawless, providing that sense of safety you really value when diving. The dive center is also very committed to coral restoration and has created a massive artificial reef that is easily accessible from the jetty.Speaking of accessibility: not only is the resort a convenient 45-minute speedboat ride away, but the excellent dive sites are also reachable in less than 30 minutes by traditional Dhoni. Even though it was the end of the manta season, we got lucky and were able to dive with these majestic creatures. We also saw plenty of eagle rays and a variety of reef sharks. The dive team puts so much effort into finding even the smallest sea creatures for us.We are absolutely thrilled with our stay and will definitely be back!

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! What an amazing experience diving and snorkelling on Summer island. The Mantas were so close when snorkelling as they majestically glided passed us and then kept returning whilst the Instructor guides were terrific, working so hard to make sure we all had the best experience. The diving was incredible with the Mantas, they just kept on gliding by and some were huge. On other dives we saw Turtle, so many turtle simply eating. Stone fish, Leaf fish, a playful Octopus, Moray eels, a variety of Sharks and Rays including a Porcupine Ray or 2, beautiful corals, little critters, Clams, too many huge schools of fish to mention and Lion fish. Wow! What a FANTASTIC trip. The dive centre (Diverland) was friendly and very professionally managed by Robin and Natalia, they really ensure that you have the best diving and snorkelling experience whilst you are there, arranging dive sites where certain critters are expected to be found at that time and making the sites varied and suiting all different levels. Usually dive boats go out twice daily and snorkelling boats are also arranged separately. Robin and Natalia are in the water every day and really are experts. NOTE due to the current flight situation the resort is only about half it's capacity so we were diving with very, very low numbers and Robin has the boat visit many islands that other islands do not visit, perfect eh! It was special for sure. and so glad we went. More instructor guides than divers, my kind a trip! Now is a great opportunity to visit as it is still peak season and not crowded at all. You might even take a 'try dive' or learn to dive there like our friends. The house reef is ideal for a snorkel or easy dive from the shore for new and experienced divers. Clear warm waters, quality hire gear and the best run dive centre in my opinion on a beautiful relaxed island. I can't wait to go back there is so much to see. Top marks
