Thulhagiri Island Resort and Spa

The Good- Fantastic honeymoon. Heathrow airport surprisingly organized and easy check in online, then bag drop. Male airport , a little chaotic but turn right to jetty and water taxi and at the end turn right to find your little kios which has a number of your resort , which links to your water taxi. Water taxi ride exciting & fast , great fun for 20 minutes. Resort absolutely stunning walk round in 5 minutes. Water bungalow fabulous, all facilities provided including smellies. Go all inclusive as easier. Spa great , very good massage. Waiters a attentive but bit miserable. Staff very friendly Cleaned daily and new towels including bath towels. Wild life and coral amazing and fascinating. The bad- The water bungalow was fabulous but wooden decking bit hazardous. Husband cut toe on wooden slippy water steps and massive hole in decking. However fixed immediately when asked at lovely reception. Entertainment nil and lacking but you are on an island, so you have come for peace and quiet. Flights horrible and long but cant change to get to amazing location. Food okay but can get very monotonous , but kitchen staff very lovely and will cook stuff on the spot for you.. Trip to local island a bit waste of time. Meet great locals but not a major cultural event, u see a lovely little school , local shop, old tree, nothing to show the real culture or beauty of the amazing people and their lives- very disappointed and pointless really. The Ugly- Saved a couple in distress in the water with safety ring. The health and safety is at your own risk!!!!! You MUST be a good swimmer and confident in the sea. KNOW the tide and the sea , it’s not a beginner snorkeling place. The reps should be more mindful of this , a little safety chat is needed. You can hire or free snockeling, if all inclusive and there are safety jackets, WEAR them if you are not comfortable . The sea is beautiful but learn to understand it. Resident house sharks lol , but they are beautiful and small.

We visited from Japan and had such a wonderful stay at Thulhagiri Island Resort. The resort is small and compact, which made it very easy to relax and enjoy everything without feeling crowded. Everything was very clean, and the island is absolutely beautiful. It felt peaceful and comfortable throughout our stay. We highly recommend the all-inclusive plan. It includes snorkeling equipment rental, lunch, and drinks, which made our stay even more convenient and enjoyable. It was definitely worth it. We especially want to say thank you to Hassan at the restaurant. He was always so kind, friendly, and attentive. His warm smile and thoughtful service made every meal even more enjoyable. We truly appreciate everything he did for us. We had an amazing holiday and would love to come back again someday!

This island and resort is a good option for those who want to stay close to Male and don’t want to add the extra hassle of seaplane flying. The resort is only 20-25 minutes away by speedboat and they were kind enough to wait for my late afternoon/early evening arrival. The island is absolutely gorgeous and it was cool staying in an overwater villa, however some upkeep would do the room a world of good. The staff was the least convincing part of the experience, especially in the restaurant you just never saw a smiling face and the service wasn’t too attentive. There was one waitress in the bar area who was quite chatty and kind though. Value for money was okay.

Me and my wife was there for my 50th birtday, staude for 13 days. The location is brilliant of u want to relax and have a calm chill holiday. Atmosphere is nice and calm, the rooms is nice and the view is stunning. The service is brilliant and the smiles from the staff and friendliness is unmatched. Food is awsome, espesially the fish. But there is food for all. All kinds of choises from simple food to barbecues. We give our stay the highest grade, and recomend all to come here. One tip for copples With children, there is not much for the small ones. More for a copples relax and lovers paradice I recomend the drive senter, talk With Jake and Get an underwather xperiense of your lifetime

I spent a long time researching where I wanted to holiday for our first trip to the Maldives and we found it all Thulhagiri Island Resort and Spa. We stayed for 10 nights AI in an over water bungalow and although the room was a little tired and in need of some TLC it was very spacious, had direct access to the ocean and a perfect view of the sunrise and sunset each day. Our transfer from the airport was a bit chaotic and communication was limited but the transfer back to the airport was smooth sailing. Our luggage was delivered and collected from our room on arrival and departure. The resort is just 20 mins from the airport and you can see Male on the horizon. When our plane was returning home, it flew over the island which was lovely to view! This is a small resort and you can walk around it in about 15 minutes but it is perfect if you want a quiet stay with the option to join in various water sports and trips that are offered each day. As we were AI, we had free snorkelling equipment for the duration of our stay and a trip was also included (snorkelling or an island visit). A buffet service is offered three times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and you are assigned your own table and waiter. The food choices at each serving were first rate and of a very high quality. Drinks and food not on the AI menu were expensive but think about where you are and the cost to have everything shipped onto the island and the prices make sense but worth considering if you are on a budget. There was entertainment a few nights during our stay, a live band one night and a disco/dj on a couple of other nights. The other nights were spent playing various card games that were on offer for guests to play. The bar staff were very attentive and it was nice chatting to them each day and getting to know them. There is a beach bar offering drinks and snacks and a lovely view of the sunset. We managed to find a spot in the shade each day under an umbrella on the beach but it wasn’t always easy to find sun chairs. It would be helpful if the resort could make it more obvious which sun loungers belonged to the beach bungalows and which were free to use if you were staying in an over water bungalow. If you are staying in a beach bungalow you have direct access to the beach from your room but if you are staying in an over water bungalow you need to walk to the beach and find a spot. We tended to head to the beach in the morning and stay around the villa in the afternoons. There is a small library of books that other guests have left behind and I left two of my own to add to the collection. Happy reading! This is a lovely island and I am happy to recommend it for a quiet stay if you are not travelling with children.
