Riu Cancun

I stayed at Riu Cancun from August 4th to the 10th, with my boyfriend and 2 friends. The service staff was very pleasant at all times, restaurant staff, bartenders and housekeeping never disappointed. The food selection was great but I wish the window of time they were open was longer. There’s nothing available before 7am if you have early activities planned, and nothing after 10. Which was disappointing since we often wanted a late night snack after many of the property activities. I also was under the impression that we would be able to order food to room service at any time, however the 24hr room service only applies to blankets, towels, water and such. That was a big let down for my group. Another thing to note is the swimming pools are only open until 7pm, the sun isn’t even down yet! The biggest let down for me though is probably the rooms. At check in we were allowed to check in a few hours early, and were provided a connecting room upon request, which the middle door was later also unlocked by staff. This was the best part, but only thanks to the kindness of the staff. The room itself is rather the same of a budget hotel. It had all the amenities you need, but felt outdated and dingy. There would be dents and scuffs on furniture, scratches all over the floor, and I even found black mold above the mini bar bottles on the wall. Something weird we noticed being a connecting room, was that we had different settings for the ac! My room could only be set to as low as 18 Celsius, where my friends could be set down to 10! However, neither of our rooms was ever cooled lower than 24 :( The tvs were also in disrepair, my friends did not work AT ALL, and ours was blurry and had glitch lines across the screen. I’ve had much nicer tvs in motels for crying out loud! One last thing, while getting ready one day we hear a clank and an “omg!!”, the middle piece of the fan had fallen off and knocked my friend right on her head! We called and told staff, they were quick to replace the piece, but her fan still shook and wobbled the whole trip and looked a little scary to be completely honest. Thank god the entire fan didn’t come down! Overall we found the rooms to be comfortable, we got good sleep despite the halls being loud some nights, but what do you expect at a party hotel. We had a fun time enjoying the activities and nice pools. But you’re pretty much getting an average hotel room with the experience of it being an all inclusive. This place needs an update.

Everything was AMAZING! the customer service great the best out of the country experience I’ve ever had

Took my daughter and some of her friends here to celebrate her birthday. The hotel is so clean and well maintained and close to many “party” activities. Swim up bar was great and Pink and Neon parties/transportation/atmosphere all 10/10

The rooms need renovations. The bathrooms clearly need a deep cleaning and some signs of mold. For the nightly rate of $200 plus, the quality of the rooms could be a whole lot better.

can’t recommend this hotel enough!! From the food and drink choices, The activities, and the cleanliness ! Location is excellent! But the best asset to the hotel is all the staff! They are amazing from the bar staff, waiting staff even the cleaning staff have been excellent and the entertainment team is amazing I don’t know where they find all there energy! Always something happening. Hope to make it back again in the future! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
