Riu Cancun

Overall the resort is nice. Great beach and ocean views from rooms. The front desk staff and staff in general are very pleasant. There was a nice party voice the first night but then it just got to be too much. The resort was overrun by spring breakers and that's why I give it an average review. I take some responsibility for not checking the policy before booking, but I will say that there's no way that MANY of these kids were 21 or older. Loud noises at night, way too much noise and yelling into the early hours of the morning, 2am to 4am. Rude manners in restaurants and bars by these kids too. No tipping for the hardworking staff. They had to close the pool because someone vomited. There are other things too, but hopefully the resort will try to limit the number of kids they allow to book. If this is a sample of young people today, we're in trouble! Probably wont stay again.

The hotel is in serious need of renovation. The elevator is old with broken lights, floor tiles are cracked, and several hallway light fixtures are broken. The only projector in the hotel was also broken, and staff had to entertain guests while the big screen was being fixed. The only nice thing about the room was the ocean view. The TV was extremely small with strange sound, and the bed was simply two full-size beds pushed together, which made it very uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was not clean and there was mold on the shower door. The food was just okay—nothing special. The most concerning issue was safety. I saw people without wristbands on the beach (which is supposed to be private for the hotel), and they were able to walk directly up to the pool area using the stairs. The staff were friendly overall. Miguel at the wet bar was excellent—he’s a great bartender who really knows how to make drinks. He was definitely the highlight of our stay

Service: hands down some of the best service around. Everyone who worked there was happy to help with anything, anytime. Cleanliness: commons spaces of resort were very clean. Our room was cleanish, but had blood on the curtains and some sort of crud on the wall. Value: decent value for price. Location: beach was nice, views were solid, not too far from airport with tons of restaurants, shops and bars nearby. Sleep quality: adjoining room noise was crazy. You could hear people next to us having a normal volume conversation. Air conditioning was finicky. Made for some challenging sleeping. Rooms: were ok. Showers large and hot. Decent size. A bit dated. Mentioned noise from adjoining rooms.

All of the staff was super friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay and we recommend this hotel to our friends.

Nice and enjoyable stay. The service staff was incredible. I was not impressed with the location; minimal beach space and very little room around the pools, not to mention it is impossible to get a chair at the pools, over half of the chairs have towels on them without being occupied. The rooms are old appearing and forget trying to get the air condition to work. Most nights we slept with the doorwall open cause it was cooler than the air. The beds are 2 double beds pushed together so forget trying to snuggling with your partner or you will fall between the beds. if you are a smoker at the end of the resort there is a 10 foot roped off section for a designated smoking section.I have never had to experience that outside at a resort on the beach. Otherwise the wait staff at the bars were great. Food was average. Overall, it was a nice stay but would not go back.
