I will start with the negative. Seaweed at the beach which has nothing to do with the resort. It wasn’t terrible and you got used to it. Other than that I highly recommend this resort. Can’t say enough good things about it. Biggest thing is the cleanliness my husband was always commenting on it, first resort we have been to that the public washrooms were spotless every time we used them. Always someone cleaning in all areas of the resort. Our room was fabulous and again spotless. Nice to arrive and get exactly what you paid for and requested. Even smelled so fresh and clean all the time. Loved the food no complaints there. We did the Italian and Asian and were happy with the food. Prefer the buffet where you have lots of variety to chose from. All the meals were excellent and never felt crowded ever since there are plenty of tables. Beach was great although it’s a fair distance to walk would not recommend if you have mobility issues. Not sure why they would not build a walkway for people. We were fine, plenty of chairs with umbrellas for shade. Noticed a few resorts down the beach with plenty of chairs but no shade whatsoever that would be annoying. Staff was excellent everywhere we went from the guys helping with chairs at the beach to the restaurants, bars, check in staff, entertainment team and cleaners. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Jackie at the buffet was a sweetheart and Roberto at the Velvet Bar always made our day. We were very lucky to have decided on this resort for our first time in Mexico we will definitely go back and definitely will visit other RIU resorts in the future. 😊
We went to the RIU LATINO Feb 28---March 7. First thing, the weather was perfect all 7 days which makes everything better! This was the only Riu resort we had not be to in the Caribbean. We enjoy the Riu chain and feel they are a solid "B". Some have better food depending on the Island location. Some are newer so you find less to criticize about. All and all they are a good resort choice. We had some of the same issues others did about the temp of the food, distance to beach, bathrooms, low quality of liquor brands. We still had a great time. If you are into slides, they were fun! We enjoyed the walks on the beach, the ocean and meeting some really nice people from all over the world . Give this a place a try, they have a lot to offer. We set up @ the pool closest to the slides, but hung around all of the other 3 pools everyday, Some great servers: Wilbert at (our) pool area served us great drinks all day! After the pool time, to the Velvet Bar, Padro, Anayely, Angeles made us some great late afternoon cocktails with some great guests sitting at the bar. Have Fun!!!
Amazing hotel, really good food, the staff is so kind and friendly, the entertainment crew slays, the beach is beautiful, 100% recommend❤️😍❤️
This resort was stunning. Exceptionally clean. Beach was beautiful, no issues getting chairs or umbrellas even mid day. Water slides were a blast. Staff friendly. There was always some activity whether on the beach or near pool to partake in. Lots of variety at buffet and restaurants, we were always satisfied. We would book this resort again 11/10!
PROS • Exceptional cleanliness throughout the entire resort. • Good buffet variety. I chose to eat exclusively at the buffet to avoid the à la carte restaurants, which had limited menu options compared to the buffet, and long wait times for seating and service. Special thanks to the excellent buffet servers: Alexis, Teresita, and Norman. • Beautiful beach with fine sand and a long shoreline perfect for walking or running. • Plenty of loungers and umbrellas available on the beach. CONS • Room cleaning, bar refilling, towels changing are not automatic. You must place a tag on the door or submit a request through the app. • Beach maintenance disrupts the experience: every morning between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., a large agricultural tractor raked the beach for about two hours. It passed back and forth repeatedly through people, blowing sand onto towels and creating noise and exhaust. If you’re hoping for a peaceful morning by the ocean, this makes it very difficult. When I reported this to customer service, they explained that the tractor is operated and scheduled by the government, not the resort, so they cannot do anything about it, that I didn't believe. • Sometimes unreliable Wi‑Fi on the beach, frequently dropping connection. • No enforcement of the no‑smoking rule on the beach, even when people smoke right beside other guests. • Rooms and rental towels feel worn and outdated. • Some dishes at the Moctezuma buffet could be washed more thoroughly. • The frequency of disturbances from intoxicated guests: over seven days, I witnessed about five incidents of people screaming from balconies, passing out on or under loungers, or being carried to their rooms by staff. Other considerations: - Service motivation tied to tipping sometimes. - The location is a little bit remotely: around 35 km north to Cancun - The transfer from Cancun Airport takes around 35-45 minutes.
