Riu Palace Riviera Maya

The Riu tequila throws a great white party but what you aren’t allowed to have after 8pm (if u r from another resort) is food. If you are from a neighboring riu you can go from 8-8 to check out the resort. All riu guests from neighboring rius are allowed to go to the white party at the tequila and drink as much as you want even after 8pm but you aren’t allowed to have food. We were in the buffet not knowing this and 2 staff members came and kicked us out saying we couldn’t eat since we were from a different Riu which was quite embarrassing. If you are going to allow people to drink to excess and party you should probably offer them some food or allow them in the buffet. Doesn’t make sense to me how people can come drink and there are no issues but they aren’t allowed to eat.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with friendly and attentive staff. If you tip a staff member at the beginning of the day, they will genuinely look after you throughout your stay. Tipping is not mandatory and there is no pressure to do so, but it certainly helps with quicker service. The food is excellent, especially considering the scale of an all-inclusive resort. There is a huge variety of choice, along with several speciality restaurants — and the best part is that no reservations are required. You can dine at them as many times as you like during your stay. There is entertainment but we didn’t go so can’t comment on this. It was full every night though so suggesting it was good. The hotel is immaculate at all times and perfectly located right on the beach, with waiter service continuing there as well. It is also only a short walk from Playa del Carmen. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This is definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Everything was perfect. The room, the food, the staff, the surroundings all excellent. The beach was white sand with plenty of sun beds available all day, the sea was warm & pleasant to go in. There were plenty of sun beds around the pools until mid morning, although we only spent a couple of hours around them as we preferred the lovely beach. The beach waiter kept us supplied with drinks throughout the day which was very nice. We really enjoyed all the A la carte restaurants although we did not try the Steak house. A room tip would be to book a courtyard view. Whilst here you must take the trip to Chichen Itza absolutely fantastic & included a swim in a Cenote. We will definitely be back

We stayed at the Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen for 13 nights and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel is in a superb location, with beautiful surroundings and easy access to everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The facilities are outstanding, with well-maintained grounds, excellent dining options, and a high standard of service throughout. Everything was clean, organised, and clearly well managed. Travelling with our close friends made the stay even more special, and this has easily been one of the best holidays we’ve had. The atmosphere, comfort, and overall experience exceeded our expectations. We would definitely return in the future and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a high-quality stay in a fantastic location.
