There are definitely some positives to this hotel. The dinner staff are lovely, always friendly, very quick to clear tables and clean up after guests. The hotel itself is very clean, and there always seem to be housekeeping staff around keeping everything tidy. The rooms and bathrooms are modern and nicely decorated, and the food is generally nice, fresh and there is always something to choose from. Guests also get free use of sunbeds and towels, and there is a private section of beach for hotel guests. However, there are quite a few negatives that really affected our stay. The food is very repetitive, so although there is always something available, after a few days it becomes quite boring. The biggest disappointment was the “all-inclusive” package, which really does not feel very all-inclusive. There is a limited selection of alcoholic and soft drinks included, and you have to pay extra for cocktails. This is something I have never experienced at another all-inclusive hotel. The pool is also extremely small, with very limited sunbeds around it. If you want a sunbed by the pool, you realistically need to be there around 7:30am. Otherwise, your only real option is the beach. The entertainment was another major disappointment. There is no entertainment provided every night, despite the hotel having built a separate Latin bar at the back which does have entertainment every night. However, you have to pay for your drinks there. It feels as though the hotel has created this bar to encourage all-inclusive guests to go there to watch the entertainment and then pay for their drinks, which defeats the point of staying all-inclusive. The rooms themselves are modern, but the bathroom is very small, and the balcony is also quite small and doesn’t have any chairs or a table, which makes it difficult to properly use the space. Some bar staff could also be quite miserable at times, and on one occasion I saw ice being picked up with bare hands, which I found particularly unhygienic. The pool bar is also not included in the all-inclusive package, meaning you have to pay extra for drinks there, which seems very strange. The snack bar is also extremely limited, offering mainly sandwiches, fruit, yoghurts and biscuits - almost rusk type biscuits that you could feed to a baby/ toddler. Overall, I would not consider this a 4-star hotel. I would give it 3.5 stars at a push. There are plenty of other 4-star all-inclusive hotels that offer significantly more for the same or less money. While the hotel is clean, modern and has some lovely staff, the limited all-inclusive offering, repetitive food, small pool, poor entertainment and additional costs really let it down. For the price we paid, I don’t feel the hotel offers good enough value for money and unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We were a large family group (kids, parents, grandparents) and this hotel offered something for all of us. The building work mentioned in other reviews is finished and the Latin Bar on the beach is great. Live music every night with talented dancers and a fun atmosphere, children welcome - and you couldn't hear the bar from within the hotel itself so it wasn't disruptive if you wanted a quieter evening. Choice of restaurant within the complex was good (buffet, bar, or a la carte). Most of us did half board and we didn't eat the buffet every night, but the buffet selection and quality was totally fine. There was a strange system of some drinks allowed, some not, depending on your package, and the buffet price was different if you ate there as a one off meal or every night which caught us out but we're only talking a few euros. The beach front is beautiful and the sea is ideal for swimming with calm swell and minimal tidal changes. Beach sun loungers were always available. Around the hotel the town seems a bit chaotic, a lot of building work and crazy traffic but you wouldn't know any of it from inside the property. The historic old town area was beautiful though and well worth a visit. Rooms were very clean and seemed fairly recently updated. Staff were direct but helpful, which was our general experience of the service culture in Montenegro. The staff surprised my father on his birthday with a beautiful fresh cake delivered to his room - none of us had pointed this out, they had got the birth date info from his documents and gone to the effort of arranging it. It made his day.

I wanted to give 7/10 but I can only rate out of 5! Hotel Montenegro gave us a warm reception. We arrived very early (lucky with baggage and airport transfer) and were greeted nicely and every effort was made to have our room available- we were in just before midday which was amazing. The room was fine, we were happy with it. It gave us all we needed. We paid all inclusive. The hotel does not offer all inclusive. It offered full board with a selection of drinks; soft drinks, hot drinks (from a machine), wine and beer. (Pictures are attached to show what was on offer) All indicates ‘everything’ and inclusive indicates ‘included’- not the case! Personally I was worried about the lack of sugar free drinks available, but am grateful that my concern was respectfully listened to and sugar free Pepsi was made available to me free of charge. The food, albeit a little repetitive, was really tasty. We have no complaints as we felt there was always something to choose that we’d enjoy. The staff in the restaurant were a mixed bunch, we wish more would smile and interact. We felt the younger staff were nicer, particularly Savic who was always busy but friendly and polite. There were a few odd things that we wish were looked into. We are allowed hot drinks from the Stars bar - part of the ‘all inclusive’. But when we asked for milk for our cup of tea we were told we could only use the machine which is hot milk! When we mentioned that we like cold milk the bar staff said she could put ice in our hot milk! Seriously?! Why not just provide a drop of cold…? We just feel a little flexibility (as with my sugar free drink) would have gone a long way. Also a kettle in the room would have been a wonderful touch! There are other places to eat and drink on the hotel site; it would have been lovely have been able to use them as part of an all inclusive deal! Especially the Latin one on the beach! We went on a couple of excursions, the hotel provided a packed lunch - a couple of rolls. banana and water. We were grateful to have that. We were excited to visit Montenegro and the Hotel Montenegro was a good base to be at, we did have a lovely 10 night stay.
