Pestana Bahia Praia Nature & Beach Resort

My cousins and I stayed at the Pestana Bahia Praia for two nights. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a very nice pool and a walking path to the beach. You definitely need to rent a car to stay at this hotel and to see all the different sights in Sao Miguel. The breakfast was fantastic. Beautiful views from the restaurant. Also, parking is complimentary.

Myself and my hubby came here for our first visit to the Azores, but it most certainly won’t be our last! We loved everything about the island - the ocean, waterfalls, lakes….it is a stunning largely unspoilt paradise! Our hotel was fantastic- right next to a beautiful black sand beach, set in lovely gardens and a great pool! The food was excellent- tasty, diverse and many local specialties and great wine. The rooms were large and very comfortable, we had one with an ocean view. We had a wonderful house keeper who made the most incredible towel sculptures! All the staff were friendly, helpful and kind. We could not have asked for more!

The staff at the reception is super nice,all the best for them,specially Marcia Ponte and Miguel Pacheco.The food is not adequate for 4 stars,it is for 3 star hotels,the chef must improve.we saw pastel de nata only for 15 minutes,breakfast repetitve every day

Absolutely wonderful location. Perfect service, very friendly staff all the time. Solid rooms. Maybe not very modern, but comfortable and practical, and with some of them: Stunning views. We stayed for nine days and were upgraded after tree. The upgrade made our stay. If I was to criticize something, it would be the half board thing. The food is not 5 stars. Average and bland, sometimes with very fresh and good fish, but not always. But I would not cut a star because of that. Like the Pestana hotels we have stayed at in Funchal, this hotel is a winner. The best we stayed at during our five week stay in this fantastic island!

We have stayed at this hotel for a week in a room 516 in April 2026. I find reviews helpful therefore I will do my best to be constructive and informative. We arrived late at night and the welcome that we have received was fantastic. Filipe who checked us is was very efficient, personable and kind. There is car park at the hotel which was very handy as we have rented a car and were able to park it every night. There are 3 charging points for EV if anyone is interested. These were empty throughout our stay however I am not sure what is like during the main season. Rooms: dated however very comfortable and clean. It is a shame there is no facilities to make yourself a cuppa of tea or coffee. No water either, unless you want to pay 3 euros every time. There is a small mini fridge with 2 bottles of water in it ( payable). Grounds: the hotel is well appointed and the grounds are maintained. It was lovely to go for an evening walk to the close by beach. It is about 45 minutes to get to either side of the island which is perfect and 20-25m from the airport. Staff: very kind and helpful. We have also enjoyed life music in the bar at the evenings. Despite all above we would not stay there again due to very very average to bad food. Breakfast was passible but this is only because we were eating either cereals or bread with cheese and ham. All the cooked options were not good, eggs and beans were overcooked, bacon was stewed not fried and sausages were nuked. Yes there was yogurt and some fruits but after a while these were dried and did not look appetising at all. All 7 days breakfast was the same. On one occasion we had to notify staff of the milk being off after my 11 year old son spat it out to his cereal bowl. Dinner: well I have enjoyed one dish which was beef stew and the rest was just not nice. All overcooked and not seasoned at all, vegetables and salads looked like they were mixed with pasta and left over stuff from breakfast like cucumbers and tomatoes. After 3 attempts eating hot food for dinner at the hotel we ate out and only had crackers, butter and cheese in the evening. This place got so much potential but the restaurant is letting it massively down.
