Our experience at this location was truly exceptional, thanks to the wonderful employees and the numerous events on offer. The team goes out of their way to cater to your needs, ensuring a memorable stay through their infectious enthusiasm and energy.

The only real advantage of this resort is the beach, especially if you’re staying in Building 1 with the Essential Club. Beyond that, there’s very little to recommend. Room service was consistently disappointing—slow, unreliable, and the food almost always arrived cold and barely edible. Booking restaurants was unnecessarily difficult, and the pools were dirty throughout our stay. There were frequent power outages (3 out of 7 days), and the Wi-Fi dropped often, which made it difficult to contact room service or guest services when needed. Concierge service was also disappointing—they seemed helpful only on the first day, mainly to push timeshare or membership sales. The beachside buffet was underwhelming, with cold food and poor overall quality. Drink options were also quite limited unless you paid extra for premium service (which we did). Overall, this was a frustrating experience, and I would avoid this resort at all costs.

We stay for 2 weeks. A beautiful and clean resort. The beach is beautiful not too much seaweed and if there is in the morning they come clean it up pretty quickly. The staff is friendly and helpful, I just wish they get rid of the harrasssing sales reps that want to push a time share on you, as well as the peddlers on the beach that keep trying to sell anything from cigars to bracelets etc, etc, etc and they keep coming back even though you refused them already 3 times. Now to the outstanding staff memebers that work really hard and always smile. To Yesenia who cleaned our room daily, God bless her, she works really hard and tended to all our needs, a big thank you. Also, 2 of my favourite cooks on the resort my breakfast chef Edward for the amazing omlets and Juan Emilio (I hope I got his name right) the chef at the beach restaurant always smiling and treated us like family. We ate at the a la carte restaurants most of the time for supper, food was delicious everywhere. The buffet restaurant was very good as well. The animation staff were all very good and fun to be around, special mention to Susan, Yuleidi and Emmanuel who made sure we participated and had fun. Thank you to all. Only 1 problem which I must say was out of the hotel's control but a little inconvenient. On our last night of our stay the power went out for a few hours and they restored the power in every building of the resort except in buildung 10 which was where I was. So I slept my last night there with no A/C and no CPAP as I have sleep apnea and was not well rested at all the next day. I hope this helps people, I stayed there from April 11-25 2026

This resort is a hidden gem! My sister and I travelled to Emotions Juan Dolio April 15-22, 2026. We like a small resort and we appreciate good wine, coffee, food and friendly service and this resort definitely ticked all the boxes! We love the beach and Juan Dolio did not disappoint. From the outside, as you arrive, first impression may be underwhelming. There are several condo construction sites nearby. Check-in was smooth and efficient. Once inside the resort we were impressed by the beautiful gardens and landscaping. Our room was clean and the AC worked great! The buffet is small but we always found something to satisfy. The a la carte restaurants were some of the best we’ve experienced. We tried all except the seafood, which was temporarily closed. The snack bar on the beach deserves special mention for their fried chicken! Yum! We found chairs and shade on the beach easily every day, we did not have to save chairs early. Shout out to Ramon for leading the fun entertainment team! Also special mention to Big Junior at the beach snack bar (evening), Antonio in the A la Carte restaurants, and Simeon at the pool bar!
