Emotions by Hodelpa Juan Dolio

This resort is a hidden gem! My sister and I travelled to Emotions Juan Dolio April 15-22, 2026. We like a small resort and we appreciate good wine, coffee, food and friendly service and this resort definitely ticked all the boxes! We love the beach and Juan Dolio did not disappoint. From the outside, as you arrive, first impression may be underwhelming. There are several condo construction sites nearby. Check-in was smooth and efficient. Once inside the resort we were impressed by the beautiful gardens and landscaping. Our room was clean and the AC worked great! The buffet is small but we always found something to satisfy. The a la carte restaurants were some of the best we’ve experienced. We tried all except the seafood, which was temporarily closed. The snack bar on the beach deserves special mention for their fried chicken! Yum! We found chairs and shade on the beach easily every day, we did not have to save chairs early. Shout out to Ramon for leading the fun entertainment team! Also special mention to Big Junior at the beach snack bar (evening), Antonio in the A la Carte restaurants, and Simeon at the pool bar!

Spent a wonderful week at this resort from April 12 to April 19. The reception handled us quickly and were very friendly. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed their breakfast at the buffet every morning (Ana kept our coffees full she was great). For lunch we enjoyed burgers at the beach bar every afternoon while admiring the sea view (Diomaida made sure we always had a drink). We ate at one of the 4 a-la-carte restaurants every night and they were all excellent with attentive staff! The housekeeping ladies for building 4 were hard working and absolute sweethearts. The pools were refreshing and the Tiki Tiki bartenders were always smiling (Tony, Jensel, Darihanna and Vincente were all-stars behind the bar). The on-site specialty coffee shop was such a nice surprise and we took full advantage of the cute café. The resort is located near a little town where most anything can be found. We felt safe at all times and had ourselves one of the best weeks in the Dominican Republic. 10/10

I give this place a big fat 0. I had a terrible experience at this resort. The staff were extremely unprofessional, and the so-called “VIP” service felt like a complete scam. It was very clear that their main focus is on making money rather than providing a quality guest experience. I would not recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We are still at the resort for the week, a non typical time of season for us to travel South. So glad we came here! Mini van ride to hotel was very smooth hwy all the way to resort. Beautiful grounds, and beach clean with many many lounge chairs each time. Activities galore for all ages. Loved the long Beach walks also. Beach bar always ready and food hot. Services with a smile all over. Get used to sign in when using the app to reserve. Do it by 9:00 a.m. for choice of the day. The venues of Ala carte are all under one roof. Strict observance of dress code here...that's ok. They stopped a roudy and disruptive guest very quickly before things escalated. Guests are always relaxed and happy here. Nice evening entertainment and the coffee One is very nice. I had my afternoon DR cup each afternoon there. Restocked fridge towels daily. We would come here as a family again. Don't miss the Michael Jackson show; it's special.

Food is average. Service at food locations is extremely understaffed. If you want a drink it’s best you go get it yourself. You’ll only grow frustrated waiting them to get you anything.
