HM Bavaro Beach

LOCATION!! POOLS !!! No reason to book a resort if you can book this hotel. Two pools, one pool overlooking the beach and the other downstairs with a very private feeling. Great restaurants and services in the hotel itself including the breakfast, and honestly, what made the experience even better was how kind and helpful the entire staff was. From the receptionists, to the security team, to the housekeeping team. Fully restocked room with mini fridge, coffee, bottled water and clean rooms, pools and spaces. Back exit straight into the beach with private lounge area, and central to a bunch of restaurants, shops, excursions, and more. Totally worth every penny you spend on it

Overall it was great. I’d come back again. Great area, great restaurants (Kat’s corner)…this is my second time here and it was better than the first time.

This is a nice place but could be so much better. I do not blame any staff as they work very very hard. I see this more of an upper management issue (the people that do not work at the hotel). Chief issue - the hotel beach is divided - 1/2 for another hotel which is all inclusive - HM Bavaro beach is not. And you pay more for nice amenities. People from Whala - the other hotel, random people often occupy the HM beach chairs and beach and security does NOTHING. We are paid guests and could not get a chair due to interlopers taking them. Ground floor pool is randomly surveyed for interlopers. Italian resto tries very hard but needs to get a lesson in pizza making. Our room was tiny, bed was queen not king size as reserved. Surrounding streets flood for some reason - no rain - and it is treacherous walking beyond the hotel - street lights out, streets flooded, horrible sidewalks. Again - none of this is directed at the hotel staff. Change comes from the top including the local government who needs to spend some of those tourist dollars on infrastructure. BUT rooftop was amazing. Beach, other than crowding, was great. The ocean was a bit cruddy but that is nature.

Breakfast included and was excellent (both buffet and menu) including the prosecco/champagne. Italian and Japanese sushi restaurants onsite were both very good and very reasonable. We ate off premises just down the street several times just to try other recommendations and were never disappointed. Rooms are compact but very comfortable and adequate. Sheltered balconies are spacious and relaxing on either the ocean or pool sides. The only frustration is the language barrier as most staff speak little to no english. We would definitely return.

Overall very good experience - good and friendly service, good facilities at a beautiful location - thank you very much.
