San Fermin by Dorobe

Just returned from 5 day break at san Fermin Had nice welcome from friendly reception staff, room was on the small side but adequate for our stay! Room was cleaned fabulous every day with fresh towels We stayed on a B&B basis where breakfast was plentiful and delicious, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal, bread, rolls etc fresh omelette station eggs, sasuage, beans etc Area was perfect for us as amenities on doorstep, beach 5 mins walk down hill. Pool area was very chilled no entertainment or music. Everything was almost perfect however Bar area was great but had to queue 20 mins for drinks this wasn’t due to lazy staff as they worked very hard it was lack of staff! Also sun loungers there were quite a few broken and if you came out after 10.30 there were none available.

Overall a good hotel, reception area clean, rooms basic but ok however the floor was dirty in the room and bathroom which let it down, few scuffs on the wall which could have been quickly rectified with a splash of paint. Pool area ok but the beds do get taken and the yellow sun loungers could do with a clean as the cup holder was dirty. I went in the pool once in the morning but it was dirty so I didn’t go in again in the separate area to the main pool. Ok for a short break and friendly staff but I don’t think i would return

My partner and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the San Fermin - we cannot fault this hotel at all. It is definitely worth more than 3 stars!!! The reception staff were so friendly, the hotel grounds were beautifully maintained and the food was fantastic with so much choice. Our room was compact, but had everything you would need. The shower was the BEST shower I’ve ever had in a hotel room. We will defo be returning. Thanks for a brilliant stay! Yes the hotel is situated on a hill, but this wasn’t a problem for us. We found the location a perfect distance from the beach and marina.

Nice hotel in walking distance to beach, shops, town. The reception staff were helpful when I had queries, and the housekeeping staff always had a pleasant greeting when you saw them. Rooms are a good size, comfy beds, enough storage space, lovely big modern bathroom. There was a fridge, kettle, mugs, glasses etc in the room which was great as I was room only - I had enough space to put things in the fridge for breakfast. There is a large supermarket Mas about a 5-10 minute walk up the hill which had everything I needed, and if you're looking for nice places to eat on a night then Bonanza square, near the supermarket, was great. I felt quite comfortable eating at the numerous restaurants there on my own at night. The grounds are lovely, grassy area with plenty of sunbeds and palm trees, and the main pool was a very good size. I went to swim around 5 each night when it was a bit quieter after I'd been out all day. It is quite deep (shallow end was 1.37m to 2.10m at deep end) but I liked that. The balcony was the only slight let-down - it's a good size, plenty of room for table and a couple of chairs, with a view out over the grounds /pool/sea if I looed to the side, but my balcony was directly facing one for the room across from me. Luckily the people in the other room didn't use theirs much, or it would have felt a bit uncomfortable sitting out there. The balcony lights also have no controls - they come on at a set time and go off at 11pm. Whether you want them to or not, and there is no switch to turn them back on. After that, if you want to remain sitting outside, you sit in the dark with only whatever light comes through the balcony doors from inside your room. All in all I enjoyed my stay here.

What a lovely find on the Costa Del Sol. Around €25 and 20 mins from Malaga airport, perfect. The room was clean and had everything in it, AC was amazing, so cold. Beds and pillow comfy too. Snack bar was ok, usual bits, but quite slow when busy. We ordered food in a couple of times at lunch, which was cheaper & quicker. Same with drinks… quite expensive poolside but the shop is a minute outside so we just got drinks and left them in the room, most people did this. No inflatables in the pool. The pool was lovely & warm, a decent size too. As for this being a ‘stag’ hotel… absolutely not! There were few all male parties, they were a bit older, & no trouble at all. They just sat around the bar area, we had no problems with them day or night. The biggest problem we had was when the main area for sunbeds was taped off for 2 days for a private event laid on by the hotel. There was literally nowhere for sunbeds to go because of this & I couldn’t see my kids in the pool as it was screened off. We were told it was a private hotel management event but as paying guests, this wasn’t acceptable. How the hotel thought this was the right choice is bound me, people pay to sunbathe and be poolside and this wasn’t an option on either day. Shocking decision by the hotel! Breakfast buffet was lovely, hot and fresh. It is quite hilly here, especially coming up from the beach. A taxi from the marina back is about €10, so that was our choice! Would come back, it’s lovely.
