Grupotel Orient

The staff was super friendly, the beds were fantastic, and the cleanliness really impressed me. The buffet food was also great every single day! The only downsides were the thin walls — you could hear conversations from the neighboring rooms — and a bit of confusion about the checkout time (the key card said 12, but reception said 11, which caused a little stress). Also, as someone who prefers taking the stairs to the 7th floor, I missed that the updated checkout info was only posted in the elevator.

On a positive note first we were happy with the room, house keeping, bar area and the bar staff. On a negative note, we weren’t impressed with the food or the waiting staff. The food hardly warm and the quality of the ingredients was a lot to be desired on certain items. The crockery and glass ware not up to a clean standard. Waiting staff were busy but we were disappointed not to be offered a drink with our meal even though we tried to attract their attention. This also happened at breakfast time so we did not have a hot drink. Everyone else seemed to be offered. To be woken at 4am on two occasions by people returning to their rooms, shouting and singing and banging around etc not acceptable, this lasted for between 45 and 60 minutes. All in all a disappointing experience. We were happy enough with the location etc but with the negatives we would not choose to return as we left disappointed.

I’d rate this more as a 3-star than a 4-star hotel. Check in: The man on reception when we arrived was really nice and welcoming, no issues there. Don’t know his name but he was bald (sorry). Check out: Completely different story. There were three people on reception – a middle-aged brunette man, an older man sitting down, and an older woman – and they were honestly so rude. They tried to charge us an extra £1000, saying we hadn’t paid, even though we had the receipt right in front of them. Instead of even checking properly, the brunette guy and woman just kept repeating, “we wouldn’t have the bill if you’d already paid.” We had to message Expedia (who we booked through), and when Expedia called the hotel, the older guy answered and actually said, “I don’t know why the hell they’re calling you.” In the end, it turned out we were right and we had paid, but there were no apologies at all. They also tried to charge us for soft drinks during meals, even though we were all-inclusive. Again, once we pointed it out, they took it off, but still no apology. The lift/elevator was broken/out of order for most of our stay. The one day it was working with no out of order sign, we got stuck in it 🤣 the lift alarm was on and it was jumping up and down. Again no apology or acknowledgement 🤣 Other cons: Bed was really uncomfortable, food very repetitive, gym wasn’t great, and the pool was tiny. Pros: Room was clean, nice view, short 10 min walk to the beach. Most of the staff throughout our stay were actually really lovely – it was just the reception team on check-out that left a bad taste. Overall, I wouldn’t call this a 4-star experience and wouldn’t return.

I have recently returned from the Grupotel Orient after 8 days. The rooms are clean and comfortable, however depending where you are staying they are very noisy with other guests returning late in the evening. At peak times expect to wait for the lift as only 2 and 7 floors. We were All inclusive , breakfast was the best, lunch awful with minimal choice and dinner hit and miss. You will need to pay for bar snacks and ice cream. Some staff in the restaurant were very rude and slow to acknowledge you at all. The pool was nice but did not open until 10.00am as the life guide could only work 8 hours a day, this I feel is very late on holiday. All in all I would not recommend this hotel as many more to choose from for the same money.

Disaster! Avoid this hotel if you can. It does NOT deserve 4 stars. We arrived at the hotel around 11:30 PM. It's far from the beach, and we were disappointed the moment we stepped inside. The common areas looked neglected and uninviting. The reception staff were extremely slow and unhelpful. We took the elevator to our room – it was dirty, full of trash, scratched up, and in terrible condition. The hallway on our floor was also dirty. The room itself was small and unimpressive. After a long journey, I went to take a shower – only to find that there was no shower gel, shampoo, or even soap in the bathroom. Nothing at all. I went downstairs to report this to reception. There was an older man working the night shift. He pulled out a dusty bottle of shower gel from under the counter – no apology, no explanation, nothing. Just handed it to me as if it was normal. After just 10 minutes in the hotel, we had made up our minds – this place was absolutely not worth the price they were charging. I went back to reception and told the man we wanted to leave and cancel our stay. I explained it’s unacceptable for a 4-star hotel to have dirty facilities and no basic hygiene items in the room. Instead of trying to help, the receptionist raised his voice, was rude, and told us we couldn’t leave at night because no one was available to process a check-out or refund. He offered no solution, no apology – just arrogance and unprofessional behavior. We felt trapped and were forced to stay in a hotel we didn’t want to be in. Shameful. In the morning around 8 AM, we went back to reception. After almost an hour of waiting, we were finally helped by a very kind lady from the Czech Republic, who handled our complaint politely and professionally. But despite everything, we still had to pay €180 for a night we didn’t want to spend there, and we were not offered any compensation. This entire experience was completely unprofessional and not worthy of a 4-star rating. Honestly, I’d give this hotel 2 stars at best – and only thanks to the morning receptionist. If you want to spend your vacation in a dirty hotel, stepping over drunk tourists with beers in hand, where nothing gets resolved at night, and where you’ll find trash in the elevator – go ahead. But we will never make this mistake again. We spent the rest of our trip in Hotel Helios (3 stars) and it was far, far better than this place. Not even comparable. Shame on this hotel – and especially on the night receptionist. He should seriously consider a different career.
