HM Mar Blau

My family and I came to mar blau for 10 days. The minute we walked through the doors we were greeted with rude behaviour from members of staff especially one of the young girls named isrea. I don’t know whether it’s to do with us being scousers or not but I have read similar reviews involving the receptions poor attitudes. We had some struggles with our rooms out such as things like moldy curtains,lack of space,ants crawling round the floors (at one point we had at least 20 ants all together) and another thing that was quite disturbing was the art on the walls (naked women)which I understand people may like this type of art but for a hotel being suitable for family and children but it was quite disappointing to see when you know you have young children with you. Apart from the rooms and reception the pool area was great we had lots of fun in the pool and with the entertainers and the food was lovely but I do recommend to eat food out in a restaurant for a decent price. Mar Blau has been chaotic for our family but we got there in the end. I’m sad to say I would not come back to this hotel but I would definitely come back to the area. If you are looking for a 4 star hotel please read the reviews before choosing because we made that mistake and look where it brought us.

Great hotel, not too big that you are overwhelmed but plenty of people to make a good atmosphere. The all-in food was great, lots of different themed nights each with plenty of choice. Never a queue to find a table or space- which is great for the height of the season. Food is regularly replenished throughout the opening hours. The allergy information was great- clear on all dishes. We normally like to venture out for a meal but didn’t need to this time. There was also the option to purchase food from the American food truck by the pools- the nachos the share were immense and great value for money. All- in drinks were good and the bar staff were really friendly- again hardly ever having to queue to get a drink. Others who were self catering also suggested that it was great value to buy all in for the day if you were having a pool day- very flexible! The shop on-site was reasonably priced and was open until 11:30pm which was great for snacks. There were very little sunbed wars! If you wanted a good location- you could find a sunbed at 9 ready for when the pool opened at 10, but later in the day it could prove harder to find one. Only inflatable rings in the pool and not lilos, plastic light balls (the lifeguard brings a bag to share out!) Rooms good, some may say a little dated but very clean and comfortable with great air con! The location is away from both sa coma and calla Millor and is quiet- but means you have the option to walk into both towns in about 15/20 mins. The walk through the woods across the road leads you to a castle with great views. The entertainment team were amazing, having nearly didn’t book via Jet2 as it said no entertainment - we read some reviews that mentioned Fran, Mike and the team. They didn’t disappoint! So good at getting everyone involved and Fran really brought the energy with his dance moves and his charismatic personality- my kids (big ones!) were so sad to say good bye! What a fab guy! A lovely gem of a hotel and we had a fab time!

As a family of 4, we have just arrived back from a lovely 10 night, half board stay at this hotel. We arrived late at 2330 hours to a queue to check in. The sole staff member was efficent though and didn't keep us waiting long. Eventually checked in but on attempting to get to our third floor room in block 4, the lift was out of order so had to walk the stairs with heavy cases. Not ideal. The lift was out of order a few times throughout our stay and the fire alarm went off twice one night too. On entering our pool view room, we were hit by a foul stale smell which was quite off putting. Straight away we noticed how worn out the room furniture and fixtures/fittings were. That did initially make us question our choice to stay here. That said, it was clean and to be honest we were so tired we went straight to bed. I approached reception the next day and explained the smell was awful. Immediately, Zavida (i think was her name) was super helpful and offered us another room or fix the air con. We opted to stay in the room and straight away a team of engineers and cleaner was sent to our room. On returning later, the room was pleasantly cold and smelt so lovely so we were more than happy with this service. As stated the room was really clean so was very happy with that. The apartment rooms were spacious and our 2 teenage sons (17 and 13) found the settee beds very comfortable and sizable. The hotel was super clean and gardens well kept. We never struggled to get beds around the well maintained pool (we had a pool view so contstantly watched the staff cleaning the area at night and in the morning). It was great having on site shop which we constantly used too. The food for breakfast and evening meal was wonderful and never had an issue with it or the choices and we don't like fish but still always something to choose. Jefferson was an absolute delight to meet and such a hard worker. A credit to the hotel. Please pass our thanks onto him. To be honest, we found all the staff extremely pleasent and friendly as well as the entertainment staff and bar staff. Special shout out to Patricia who was always lovely. The hotel rooms are very much in need of a refurbishment and I feel this is what lets the hotel down. They are definitely not 4 star rooms. 2 stars, maybe lower 3 star at best. The other hotel facilities, food and staff are worthy of the 4 stars though. We probably won't return until there is a hotel room refurbishment and amenitites like the air con and lifts are upgraded, as we actually loved everything else including the location. Quiet location but within walking distance of Calla Millor and Sa Coma. On the whole, we had a fantastic stay on a lovely island. Thank you to all the staff. Hope the feedback to upgrade the rooms is taken on board by the senior management team!!

So fun and always has activities going on

Overall, we had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice to suit everyone, and we couldn’t fault it. The pool was great, the daytime activities for children were fantastic, and the snack bar offered a wide variety of delicious options. Unfortunately, there were a few issues with our accommodation. On arrival, we checked into our first room, only to discover that the air conditioning wasn’t working and the room had a damp smell. To the hotel’s credit, they dealt with this very quickly and moved us to another room straight away. However, after our first night in the new room, we found that the air conditioning had leaked overnight, leaving water constantly dripping onto the floor. We also noticed a significant amount of mould on the curtains, which we believe was caused by the ongoing air conditioning leak. This was disappointing and is something that clearly needs addressing. The only other negative experience involved one member of the entertainment team. We were a family group of 13, including four children, and during both the day and evening this individual made rude comments, used inappropriate language, and appeared to be intoxicated on several occasions. This was not the standard of behaviour we expected, especially around families with young children. Despite these issues, we still had an enjoyable holiday, not quite a 4 star hotel however the hotel has many positives, particularly the excellent staff, great facilities, delicious food, and family-friendly atmosphere. With a few improvements to room maintenance and the conduct of certain staff members, this could be an outstanding place to stay.
