HM Mar Blau

We had a fantastic time and we have to give a huge shout out to Fran, Mike, salla and the big hungarian as the entertainment team were amazing. The only thing that's stopping a 5 star review is we were told we could have a late check out but when the day came we were denied. Other than that we would recommend this hotel.

Note: Re-posting this review as my wife’s original review was mysteriously removed. Potential guests deserve to know what to expect before booking. If anyone is looking for a true 4-star hotel with true 4-star service, do NOT stay here. My wife and I generally only stay at 4 or 5-star properties, but HM Mar Blau falls far short of that rating in almost every category, decor, cleanliness, amenities, and staff attitude. Here is a breakdown of our experience: 1. Zero Accessibility or Customer Service I arrived at the hotel on crutches wearing an orthopaedic boot due to a broken foot. Despite my clear mobility issues and my wife handling two large suitcases, the receptionist offered zero assistance and was thoroughly unpleasant. When we tried to reach our room, the main elevator smelled strongly of raw sewage and failed to move. Returning to reception, the staff member rolled her eyes and told me to use the stairs. After I pointed out my crutches and suitcases, we were redirected to a service elevator hidden in a cleaning supply room. It didn't work either until a maintenance worker showed us a secret trick (you had to twist the button before pressing it) and walked off. We were forced to use this dirty service lift for days. When the main lift was finally fixed on Sunday, I reported the sewage smell again, only to be met with blank stares. 2. Dated and Unclean Rooms The room felt like a 2-star budget hotel: * Very dated, with holes in the tiles and mouldy curtains. * There was sand on the floor and a loose screw on the balcony when we checked in. Despite daily cleaning visits, the sand and screw remained on the floor the entire time, showing the room wasn't actually being swept or cleaned. * Basic 4-star amenities were lacking, instead of a standard set of toiletries, we were left with just two shampoos in the shower and a random body wash at the sink. 3. Archaic Cash Policy (Safe and Towels) Unlike standard 4-star hotels, everything here is an extra charge, and cash only: * Safe: Requires a €25 cash deposit plus €3 per day for a manual key. * Pool Towels: Requires a €10 cash deposit per towel. Because we carry dedicated credit cards for safety abroad and don't carry physical cash, we couldn't use the safe and had to carry our valuables everywhere. We also couldn't get pool towels and had to buy our own in town, which we had to leave behind due to luggage limits. 4. Small Pool Area The pool area is nowhere near large enough for the volume of guests the hotel accommodates. Finding space or enjoying a quiet swim is nearly impossible during peak hours. 5. Poor Breakfast and Unfriendly Dining Staff The breakfast quality was sub-par for a 4-star standard. The kitchen staff were unwelcoming, and the setup is definitely not 4 star. When one of the orange juice machines broke down, my wife tried to walk through an unmarked area to get to the working machine, only for a staff member to shout at her in Spanish. 6. Subpar Complaint Handling When I tried to lodge an official complaint with management, the receptionist handed me an official form written entirely in Catalan. When I asked for help understanding it, he admitted he couldn't even read Catalan himself. The daytime staff had very limited English, while the night receptionist simply pushed every issue back to the daytime shift. Final Verdict This hotel is in desperate need of a top-to-bottom renovation and a complete overhaul of its management and customer service standards. It ruined our break away, and we certainly will not be returning.

I had read a few unfavourable reviews about the hotel but in my honest opinion it was lovely. Chilled, friendly vibes. Yes, the rooms were a little tired but perfectly clean. We had an apartment on floor 3 and studio on floor 1. We sent self catering and ate out all of the time do can't comment on the cooking facilities. The pull out sofa beds were a great size for the kids, especially as one of them was a 16 year old andover 6 foot tall. 🤣. Air con was great. We bought food at the pool snack bar which was very nice and good portion sizes. The pool area is lovely and we never failed to get sunbeds, even for 9 of us together and that was after 9.30am so no wake up at daft o clock. The lady lifeguard also said hello everyday and I saw her on a few occasions helping people to find umbrellas if needed. The entertainment staff are fab, lovely and crazy 🤣 but very entertaining. All of the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in between Cala Millor and Sa Coma which is good so you can visit both resorts. Yes it is a little bit of a walk into them but doable. The walk to Cala Millor beach to get to the area that isn't rocky is long, the sea is wavy which the kids loved. The walk to SA Coma beach is shorter and the sea is calmer. Overall we had a fantastic time and would definitely visit again. We visited Cala Bona which is a must.

We stayed here in July as a group of three girls on a self-catering holiday, and we had such an amazing time. The atmosphere was friendly and inclusive, and we never felt left out. We decided to upgrade to all-inclusive for one day, and it was absolutely worth it for the price! The food was delicious, there was a great variety to choose from, and the drinks were fantastic—especially the strawberry daiquiris, which quickly became our favourite. The entertainment team really made our holiday. They were so friendly, full of energy, and always made an effort to include us in the activities. A special mention has to go to Fran, who was incredible. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he made every activity so much fun. He even listened when I suggested playing volleyball in the pool and made it happen for us. It was such a hit that he organised it again on our last day, which was the perfect way to end our holiday. Thank you to everyone for making our trip so memorable. We had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fun, welcoming holiday.

Just returned from a week’s stay. Mixed review to be honest. Staff are lovely very friendly. Entertainment staff are good too. Pool area is nice and always plenty of sun loungers without having to get up mega early. We stayed self catering. We eat out a lot so don’t ask for much in the room but lack of a toaster is odd you have to pay 10 euros for one from reception which you get back when you return the toaster but why not just put one in the room? I’ve never ever known a hotel self catering with no toasters? The kitchenette area is very small hardly any room to store things and hardly any room to make sandwiches etc. Cups and glasses are tiny and tiny bowls so no good for cereal. Tiny travel kettle too. I understand if you’re all inc or half board that these are not major issues but self catering they are. The fridge is very small too it just felt messy and cramped and all we used it for was brekkie and sandwiches as we ate out for main meals. The rooms are in need of updating the taps were falling off in the bath/shower. The decor/tiling is old it didn’t feel very clean. The sofa beds had marks all over them in the lounge thry felt dirty. The bedroom was fine. Spacious and felt clean. It is quiet at night so no issues sleeping. A weird alarm did go off one night right outside our room very loud at 2am we never received any info or explanation about that. There is no way this is worthy of 4 stars unfortunately. The location isnt great. It feels dirty around the hotel walking into Cala millor or Sa coma it just feels a bit rough. Once you’re in Cala millor or Sa coma it’s fine but Cala millor deffo the nicer out the two. The gym is tiny and the air con virtually non existent so if more than one person in it, it feels way too hot. Didn’t use the indoor pool and we didn’t eat in the cafeteria so cant comment on those. We did eat at the pool bar and the food was lovely. Overall I’d say good friendly staff good pool area but location, cleanliness and lack of facilities in rooms let it down. Probably wouldn’t stay again.
