The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani

An amazing 8 nights at The Sands Khao Lak for our first trip to Thailand! Everything was first class, from the resort location, our Pool Access Room, Restaurants, Bars, Massages, and the amazing staff at all the venues and services. Thankyou for helping us make memories, we will be back!

Absolutely loved our stay here! Wow what a fantastic resort this is especially for families but also those travelling without kids. I booked our accommodation through Expedia which was easy and a great price.I highly recommend a pool access room if you are able to. It was a game changer for us with our 2 kids aged 10 yrs. We all loved it. The room was so spacious, even the bathroom with a full size bath and seperate toilet and shower.Even a toddler stop to use at the basin if you need it. both kids slept on the trundle couch set up and were comfortable. The main bed is a king and it's huge. Easily would fit 2 adults and a child. We stayed in the kids wing so it was close to the slides and main pool area. My kids found the slides pretty slow but if you have kids up to the age of around 8 I think it's perfect. The lazy river is good fun too and there's a large pool that isn't crazy deep so perfect for throwing the ball or pool sinks to the kids. The pool bar has a huge range of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks on offer at reasonably good prices. There was little food truck there each day that sells roti sweet treats for 100 TBH which were delicious and a great price for a snack. The rooms in the lagoon section overlook a lovely green space and are still close to the main pool and play area. The rooms that are beachside are the ones you want if travelling without kids, they look amazing and are ocean view. There is a deep pool there and another bar plus sunloungers along the grass where the resort reaches the beach. There is a drop down to the sand and there are some rocks there too but it's still nice. At low tide you can walk in both directions and im sure swim but as it was wet season the water was too rough for us. The buffet breakfast is by far the best weve ever had. Absolutely something for everyone and plenty of it. We found it was busy around 9-930 but pretty quiet either side of those times. It didn't matter as there were enough tables etc. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. They are so good with little kids too. The hotel provide not only high chairs but booster seats as well. I was so impressed with how family friendly this place is. Each day we would ask at reception for a lift in the golf cart to the main road. Ita a short walk but uphill so we chose not to do it in the heat! We never waited more than 2 minutes and this is available to everyone. There are plenty of shops in walking distance for shopping and eating out. A great bar across road called Paddy's if youre a sport fan and very kid friendly. The hotel provides an abundance of pool towel,, bath towels, umbrellas and anything else you need. The ease of accessing everything was fantastic. We used the billiards table often as well as the table tennis, both in air-conditioned rooms. The kids club is great with lots of activities and also playstation for the older ones. we attended the free fire show that was on which was fabulous. I can imagine that in the peak season this place might be a busy environment but our experience was absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to return, hopefully during the dry season and we can enjoy the water

2nd time staying here in 12 months. Even though wet season had set in it was still great. Kids club up and running. All bars cured my thirst and massages perfect. Only disappointment was breakfast being the same every day. Got bored with that. 1st world issues. Every staff memeber friendly and went over and above to accommodate. Had a family pool access room on the lagoon wing side. Quieter than the kids pool side. Already planning the next trip.

We have stayed at The Sands many times over the last few years. The location is perfect, a beautiful beach located on one side and a 2 minute walk from the front of the hotel brings you onto the Main Street of Khao Lak centre. Plenty of shops, restaurants and bars along with local food sellers and pharmacies. The hotel is in 2 halves, one side is the family wing where the water park is and the other side has a large beach front pool and an adults only pool set further back. As I have kids we stay In the family wing In a pool access room which is absolutely amazing. The pools are all so clean, the rooms are cleaned daily to a really good standard, never had any issues whatsoever. The water park is great, the pool guys are very attentive making sure the kids are safe. Kids club is perfect for little one up around the age of 5 I would say. They do have computers for older kids and a separate area with older kids activities over the adults side. The staff make this place what it is, all so friendly and can’t do enough to help. We’ll be back again soon.

We retuned for the 10th time ! Fantastic value at the resort : fantastic breakfasts and great because it by the beach and the pool. Would be great for kids with pools and shows They are getting a new Gym which is great Then it’s just so easy to walk up the street for meal or massage or coffee. This place is just the right pace for a holiday The staff are very helpful , even helping me with a private taxi to the airport.
