The ShellSea Krabi

A wonderful stay with our family which included a 4 year old & 18 month old. Rooms were very well designed with probably the best drainage of a shower room Ive ever seen. Breakfast was first class, lovely private beach with lots of shells for little ones to collect. Large family swimming pool with swim up bar plus another adult only swimming pool. Lots of sun lounges and great gardens. Not far away from a number of beach bars (Joy Cafe & Bar was our favourite). Would highly recommend this hotel

On first impressions this hotel looked wonderful - basically in the middle of nowhere - but I knew this before going there. Reception is stylish and efficient - we were booked into a garden room but thought we might upgrade, so we iwere shown a pool access room - basically the same room but opening on to a pool, unfortunately, as we've encountered in other hotels before, the room smelt damp, so chose to stay in the room we had booked. The room was spacious and had the added bonus (for me) of Elemis toiletries The shower was good and the air con worked well - however the beds were sooo hard, I thought I liked a hard bed, but boy I think the floor may have been softer. The grounds were lovely from the beach it reminded me of some of the Chimes in Bournemouth and the black pool was stylish although a little impractical when it's 34 degrees. The route to the beach would definitely be challenging for anyone with mobility issues but the beach was fine and you could walk to the Fossil cemetery, however what ever you do don't go in, you'll be shooed away with a flea in your ear. Fin bar was good although they don't provide the sleeves to keep your bottled beer cold and the beer bottles were definitely not cold - although minor its a hiccup when you want a cold beer - solution buy multiple bottles/cans and ask for an ice bucket . Food at Fin bar was very good and in the end that's where we ate. We partook in dinner the first night at the Cerulean Restaurant and I have to say it was poor, basically food was lukewarm to cold - not a great start when you know you're in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast the next morning again poor - probably the worst selection of breakfast fare we had had on our trip round Thailand and again the hot food was cold and no A la carte items For lunch the next day we went to God Le restaurant which I'd read about on here - it was lovely, very rustic but we were sat over the water drinking cold beer and eating delicious food at a fraction of the price. Overall the hotel was fine but the food is definitely lacking, on the website the restaurants are under the tab labelled "Fine Dining" unfortunately, you aren't going to get that. Apart from the pool/towel boys we didn't really interact with any staff - they just didn't seem particularly interested

We had a superb time staying at the hotel. Before heading off onto the next leg of our trip. The staff were great and the food in the main restaurant was superb - perfect if you wanted to eat closer to home rather than trip into Ao Nang. The hotel has everything you need and the free shuttle into Ao Nang suites us perfectly.

The room itself was very nice and spacious, and the hotel grounds are pleasant, with a lovely, tranquil pool area that was one of the highlights of our stay. However the adult pool is a bit odd as it’s part of the private swim out rooms, so be aware the other pool is for families so can get noisy. The staff were also very nice, and the pool staff in particular were always helpful and attentive. However, overall it didn’t quite feel like a true 5-star experience. The location is quite far from town. We did know this but weren’t quite prepared for a couple of things. Firstly, whilst the hotel does provide a shuttle, it’s an open truck which doesn’t feel particularly premium and takes away slightly from the luxury feel you’d expect. We also expected to be able to rely on grab. However be warned that you need to book a premium car as there aren’t many drivers in the area, so it’s something to be aware of when planning trips out as this adds to the cost. Breakfast was another disappointment. Unfortunately it wasn’t very good, to the point that my husband ended up skipping it on most days. The choice was good but it was often quite stale and hard and felt like it had been left out a while. The food served by the pool was good though and was very fresh. While the property is nice and has some strong points, it just felt like something was missing. A bit of atmosphere or soul that would elevate the experience. For that reason, I didn’t feel I could rate it five stars. It’s a nice enough hotel but couldn’t consider it a 5*

Beautiful luxurious quiet hotel. Lovely hotel grounds with two gorgeous swimming pools. All the staff were amazing, friendly and attentive especially in the restaurants and around the pools. The beach was a little disappointing as there are no sun beds on it, although you could take a bean bag down to lie on, but with no umbrella for shade. The beach is very private with just hotel guests and some local fishermen with their boats. The hotel is situated in the middle of nowhere which adds to its peace and calm. We used the spa and had a couples massage which was amazing! There is a shuttle bus into Ao Nang which is a total contrast to the hotel, very busy and lively.
