Our stay at this hotel in Turkey was a terrible experience from beginning to end. Unfortunately, there was very little that we could consider positive. Almost everything seemed to come with an additional charge — including colourful drinks, Wi-Fi and even towels. For an all-inclusive holiday, this was extremely disappointing and not what we expected. We also found Pharaoh ants in our room, which is a serious hygiene concern and something that should not be ignored in a hotel. However, the biggest and most serious issue was the number of guests who became severely ill with what appeared to be a serious gastrointestinal illness. In our group of eight people, six became seriously ill. We experienced severe stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, extreme weakness and other symptoms. Two people had to spend time in hospital. Four days of our holiday were effectively lost because people were too sick to leave their beds or leave the hotel room. The situation was repeatedly reported to the hotel reception. Despite numerous complaints and reports from guests, we saw no meaningful action being taken to address the situation or prevent further illness. We also contacted TUI regarding the situation. However, because we were extremely ill and confined to our hotel room, communication was very difficult. Our normal mobile phones were not working in Turkey, so we could only use the hotel’s Wi-Fi/internet. This made it extremely difficult for TUI to contact us when they tried to reach us. As a result of the illness, we also lost a boat trip worth €240, which we had already paid for and were never able to recover. This was another significant financial loss on top of the holiday we had effectively lost because of the illness. What makes this even more upsetting is that the hotel had been informed about the situation repeatedly. We were not the only guests reporting illness. There were many other people experiencing very similar symptoms, yet from our perspective, the seriousness of the situation did not appear to be properly addressed. We were eventually forced to report the matter to our travel insurer and to the relevant Turkish authorities so that the hotel could be investigated. We felt that the situation was being swept under the carpet rather than properly investigated and addressed. We had been looking forward to this holiday for months. Instead, six out of eight people in our group became seriously ill, two ended up in hospital, four days were spent confined to the hotel, we lost a €240 boat trip, and we were left with a deeply distressing experience. Based on our experience, we absolutely cannot recommend this hotel. The biggest disappointment was not simply the additional charges or the poor facilities — it was the apparent lack of an adequate response when so many guests became seriously ill. And one more important point: the photos used to promote the holiday were taken in front of a completely different hotel located behind the fence. This gave the impression that we would be staying in a beautiful resort with a large water park and impressive facilities. In reality, these facilities belonged to another hotel and were not part of our accommodation. We feel this was very misleading advertising, as the promotional photos created expectations that the actual hotel simply did not meet.
