Club Mermaid Village

It was such a good stay staff was lovely thanks to Seyhmus he was kind always getting us drinks and saving us a table for dinner, Rion kind, quick helping and just amazing all round, Hasan, Emre and Hamit and many others. Food was nice but not the best as not a lot of options for kids and picky eaters but the drinks were good. Room was nice a bit of a bad draining shower but I would definitely come again. Private beach was very nice and the shops were also very close and the shop on site was amazing cheap drinks wide variety of clothes and bag. The rooms were very clean so was the pool area and restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing great entertainment, music playing everyday mini disco was very fun

We are a British family of 7 that came to this hotel for 10 nights all inclusive. Food : Unfortunately we spent more than half of that time eating out and skipped breakfast most days. The food offerings were rather “niche” and repetitive and I would say were geared more towards Eastern European tastes, which is partly understandable as the majority of the guests seemed to be from this region. Examples of food offerings were “sheep trotter soup”, “heart wraps”, “beef tongue”, peas in some kind of milky stew and lot of other unidentifiable stew type foods. Even the scrambled eggs were mixed with vegetables. One night there were turkey steaks on offer that looked like some kind of liver and I couldn’t actually cut into it. Needless to say I decided not to eat it. Lots of strange looking food and cheeses etc without any kind of label on them, so a bit of a gamble. The majority of our party ate chips and bread and cold pasta and tomato sauce. Lots of the food offerings were cold, including the chicken soup and rice dishes. Even the cake offerings were 90% blancmange type desserts with most of them topped with coconut and some of the cakes had an awful hard rice like texture. On top of the awful food 4 out of 7 of our party had diarrhoea for 2-3 days which is why they resorted to bread and chips for the remainder of the holiday. Location: quite a way out from the centre of Alanya which will cost you around €35 in a taxi one way. Nothing around the hotel in the way of bars or restaurants. Fortunately some bars/restaurants will offer a free transfer to and from the hotel which was helpful but again food choices were similar in these restaurants but definitely better than the hotel. Hotel: rooms not as nice as the pictures lead you to believe and our wardrobe doors and balcony screen kept breaking and coming off the runners. Amazing shower though. Maids kept only leaving 2 fresh towels despite having 4 of us in the room. Disappointing that you have to pay extra to use the safe and WiFi. Pool areas nice and plenty of sunbeds but you have to get down early if you want a good spot. Ice cream only available between 3 and 4 which created long queues Overall spent a lot more money than we would’ve hoped due to disappointing food and extra costs but tried to make the most of the nice pool areas. Location not great and wouldn’t recommend for British families with children but only because of food and location

Honest Review of Club Mermaid We booked Club Mermaid through On the Beach. Before travelling, I joined the hotel’s Facebook group and started seeing quite a few negative reviews and posts about a sickness bug going around the hotel, which understandably made us very nervous. I wanted to leave an honest review from the perspective of someone who is generally easily pleased, doesn’t tend to moan, and isn’t expecting luxury. **Rooms ⭐⭐⭐⭐** When we first arrived, we were given the wrong room - a standard room with a double bed, a single bed and a chaise lounge being used as a bed, all in one room. There were no family rooms available until another family checked out. The following day, we were moved into a family room, which was much better. It had two separate bedrooms, an entrance hall and a bathroom. The room was a great size, clean and cleaned daily. There was a nice shower and plenty of storage. Both bedrooms had air conditioning, which was very effective. **Pools ⭐⭐⭐⭐** There are three pools. One is for the water slides, one is next to the pool bar where the daytime entertainment takes place, and there is a smaller pool which we didn’t use. The pools all appeared clean and were open from 9am-6pm. However, both of my daughters developed ear infections during the holiday, so I did find myself wondering about the cleanliness of the pool water. **Food ⭐⭐** Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment for us. We are generally quite easy to please and will eat most things, but we really struggled with the food here. There were lots of stews, vegetables that looked very soggy, and the cold meats often looked quite unappealing. There was soup every day, but the puddings were all quite unusual and there was no ice cream included with the meals. Breakfast was probably the best meal in the main restaurant. There was someone frying eggs to order, which were nice. My children didn’t even like the pancakes and Nutella, which was surprising! Lunch at the snack bar was much better. There was freshly made pizza, chips, nuggets and, on some days, chicken shawarma. Unfortunately, my children didn’t like the taste of the chicken. It also contained quite a lot of skin and had a strange texture. The salad was nice at all the different food locations. We ended up eating out quite a lot and having plenty of chips and salad! **All Inclusive ⭐⭐⭐** I wouldn’t say everything is included in the “all inclusive” package. You have to pay to use the safe and also pay for towels. The included ice creams and waffles are only available between 3pm and 4pm, and there was a long queue. The included drinks consist of beer, vodka, gin and whisky and are available until 11pm. There is an ice cream bar open throughout the day, but you have to pay for these separately. My children loved the ice creams from there, but it’s worth knowing they aren’t included. **Health/Sickness** Unfortunately, both of my daughters developed ear infections during the holiday. My husband also became unwell and has come home with a stomach bug, including sickness. I appreciate that people can become ill on holiday for many different reasons, and I can’t say for certain that anyone became unwell because of the hotel. However, given the number of posts we had seen before travelling about sickness at the hotel, it was something we were particularly conscious of throughout our stay. **Overall** We went to Club Mermaid hoping for a relaxing family holiday and, while there were definitely some positives - particularly the family room, the cleaning and the pools - the food and the concerns around illness really let it down for us. I’m genuinely not someone who expects everything to be perfect, and we usually find the positives in most holidays, but unfortunately I wouldn’t ever go back to Club Mermaid.

Great experience here at Club Mermaid! We loved the pools, the atmosphere and particularly the animation, thanks to Ziza, Emre and the rest of the team they made our holidays amazing!

We stayed in this hotel 5th August for 10 nights as a family if 4. We had read reviews on the hotel Facebook page the night before travelling about a sickness bug in the hotel, we did get the sickness bug on day two of our holiday HOWEVER.....it was not just this hotel but a bug in the area in a few hotels. The hotel could not do enough for us and sent up a maid to clean out room, gave use extra towels and bedding and extra water all within 10 minutes of notifying them we were poorly. There is a doctor on site 24 hours and was always available, we did not need him however as it was just a 24 bug. We did lose out on a trip we had booked on the pirate ship but went to Alanya when we were better by bus and visited the castle and went to the kleopatra beach at the far end and went to the Casa Mue Beach restaurant for lunch which was amazing and then got free sunbeds and waiter service to your sunbed all day. The hotel food was not great as being English we found they catered more towards other tastes l, we did always find something to eat at breakfast and there were fresh pizza's made every lunchtime at the pool bar which was perfect for us. The biggest plus at this hotel is the entertainment team, there was something on all day for all ages, my son 13, daughter 11 and husband all loved the water polo, pool Zumba and the many pool activities throughout the day. There was a foam party every Wednesday around at the stage which was fabulous. I have to mention the ice cream stand which is just around the corner from the shop, there is an additional charge for this but it is well worth it, he makes iced coffees, banana splits, milkshakes, freeze ice cream (anything you want added and it's frozen and chopped then rolled and served in a tub). The waffles from this ice cream place were amazing as was the ice cream pizza. The hotel was very clean and as soon a cup or plate was put down it was collected straight away. Our room was very clean and the maids came daily to change the beds, leave fresh towels, toilet rolls and bottled water for the fridge. The pool area is amazing to laze around such a lovely feeling swimming or lazing under the palm trees swaying in the breeze. Overall the holiday was a hit for us, we did eat out on an evening which didn't bother us as we liked to get ready and have a look out, there are restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and our favourites were The Blue Shark and Green Heaven steakhouse. We would definitely come back to this hotel again.
