Selene Beach & Spa Hotel

This is a beautiful hotel- Fabulous surroundings, beautiful dining areas. Excellent bits- most of the staff are fabulous too! They are friendly and courteous, and always keen to help. In the dining areas they are very quick at providing beverages, and clearing up, so that you do not have to stare at dirty crockery, the meals are very varied, my only criticism of the dining areas, is that the food was mostly lukewarm - not helped by the very cold plates, but the selection and quality is excellent. The dessert table would be a dream in any 5 star restaurant, although being a simple soul, my favourite dessert (every night!!!) was the rice pudding. The hotel has a Spa, now, I would never have pegged myself as a spa person, but the Spa and its staff, was/were stunning. My friend and I signed up for three mixed therapeutic massages, which really helped with pain and mobility. The ambience was perfect and the staff were all wonderful. The hotel has a Guest Relations desk, and we had help from Jane who is the most amazing asset to the hotel team. The review for the hotel has a “but” We came in very late at night very tired- we were booked into a “standard room” outside facing. My friend and I were asked if we would like to upgrade to a “much better room” with a Sea view. I asked how much this would cost I was told €75. The second man, drew the first man a very strange look and he suddenly changed it and said “Per Person” so it went from €75 to €150 in 10 seconds flat. I thought it was very odd as nothing else had been calculated in terms of PP was always by the room. As I said we were tired, had been travelling over 12 hours and my friend thought the sea view would be great. So, got to the room- it was not an upgraded room- it was exactly the same size as we had already- it was a “ standard”room with a sea view! So I got to thinking about it and felt we had been ripped off, I checked prices for the same upgrade on various sites and they started at €40 on most websites and again on most websites we could have upgraded to a suite for the money we paid- management insisted that we had not been overcharged, as things are always much more expensive if you wait to you get to the hotel- although that has not been my experience from many years of travelling, So please be warned if you arrive late at this hotel please think about how much you are being charged before you agree. I was told if you make a criticism like this against a hotel it can be taken down, but all I can say is this is my truthful review.

Atmosphere was great, entertainment was good, hotel workers were so so friendly and the food was good too

Super hotel!! We were there in april 2026. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Staff were really friendly. I think I’ll be back someday!

The staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome from the very first moment. The buffet was excellent, and our suite was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again. Thank you for your hospitality, from Jane in Guest Relations to the gentleman in the hotel gift shop.

All the staff were really friendly, clean and tidy rooms, and all the personal always happy to help.
