Reef and Beach Resort

An once in a lifetime experience in a authentic resort but also very modern. A nice modern room. Very clean and comfortable. We loved our stay at Christmas and the new year. The restaurants have a nice buffet and plenty of your choises. A warm welkom by the always smiling staf, especially at Christmas and the last day of the year. If yoou want to relax in the sun, go to this resort.

We booked our holiday at the Reef and Beach Resort with a 3 night safari to Selous game reserve, Tanzania as a package through Secret Escapes - brilliant service! All of our processes went smoothly, taxi transfers, internal flight included and checking in/out at very obscure hours. Remember you need a Visa and Zanzibar medical insurance to enter (best done on line before you go). Carry this info with you to Tanzania as it will be checked again on re entry into Zanzibar after your safari trip. Use the ATM at the airport to withdraw your currency (very reasonable exchange rate) before going to the hotel. Although not really expected tipping for good service does boost a very poor salary and is most welcome. We stayed at the Resort for two nights and then returned for seven nights after our safari. We left the majority of our luggage in a secure place at the hotel and only took very basic hand luggage in a cheap lightweight rucksacks we had packed specially for this as you could not easily take your suitcase on the aeroplane for our safari trip. We had a different room on return. Both rooms were serviced well and very comfortable although in completely different aspects of the hotel. We loved watching the wildlife around the complex and although asked to keep a distance there were many tourists ignoring this and trying to feed and encourage interaction with the animals. The Maasai tribesmen on the beach were friendly and exchanged pleasantries although ultimately they were trying to sell and encourage you to visit their ‘shop in the village’ they weren’t troublesome at all. They will find and show you the massive Starfish in the shallow waters, which you shouldn’t touch or handle as it stresses them out too much. We didn’t know this until we read about it later. There are also many Maasai employed at the hotel too so it felt like a good balance. We purchased trinkets from the shop on the complex too as it is run by an NGO and therefore benefitted the local people running it. Every person we met was happy and friendly and very approachable from reception staff to room services, waiters and table clearers. An absolute credit to the resort! We felt very safe and at no time felt uncomfortable or hassled. We took advantage of the local tours on offer at the hotel and felt they were good value and well organised, as was the on site spa treatments. Very relaxing! We had a superb stay. It may not have been perfect for everyone but what is? It was certainly to a very high standard and delivered on a wonderful African experience! We had time of our life's in Zanzibar especially at Reef & Beach Excellent service and people were very friendly .We all enjoyed a lot meeting Mr Mostafa and his team was amazing.Thank you very much and we appreciate and extra mile that Mr Mostafa host us South Africans to feel home🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 I will recommend Reef and Beach to anyone anytime Once again Asante Sana Karibu🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🫶🏽

Very nice and friendly staff. The all-in experience was very good. They also provide different kinds of cuisines. They also provide different kinds of tours.

A hotel with an amazing atmosphere and staff. The food is excellent, with something for everyone. A large selection of fresh produce (salads, fruit). Drinks (including alcoholic) are available with all meals. There's a 24-hour floating bar. In addition to very good drinks, it also serves snacks in the evenings. High-quality theme nights: live music, acrobats, and Maasai performances. The hotel also features a Zanzibar colobus monkey – very easy to observe if you're so inclined. These colobus monkeys are neutral towards people and don't bother people. Everything at the hotel worked as it should. Various amenities are available, including medical assistance, shops, a spa (including a very good selection of massages). Tours are available (including, for example, in Polish). Right next to the hotel is a Maasai village and shops – you can buy some truly beautiful, handmade items (which can be personalized), and take a walk with the Maasai at low tide. This is a very good option, as walking alone can be dangerous due to the sea urchins, and it's easy to miss something interesting. The Maasai also work at the hotel, which adds to its unique character. I highly recommend this hotel.
