We were really looking forward to our holiday in Cyprus, but unfortunately our stay at the five-star Atlantica Mare Village Ayia Napa fell far short of our expectations. The biggest disappointment was the condition of the beach and its facilities. The beach bar was abandoned and falling apart, the sunbeds and umbrellas were old and worn out, and the beach itself was poorly maintained. This is simply not what you expect from a five-star resort. Another inconvenience was that beach towels could only be collected from the spa. We were also surprised that, instead of providing reusable water bottles, the hotel gives guests ordinary single-use plastic bottles and expects them to refill and reuse them throughout their stay. This does not feel environmentally responsible or appropriate for a modern five-star resort. The worst part of our stay was finding cockroaches in our room. The hotel did nothing for more than three hours. Only after our second complaint were we told that housekeeping would clean the room and carry out pest control. We were initially offered a room change only after two days. However, after we insisted again, a room suddenly became available the very same day. Unfortunately, the replacement room was not an upgrade at all. It was located directly next to the service entrance of the beach restaurant and close to the garbage bins. What disappointed us the most was the hotel’s attitude. We never received a sincere apology or even a simple gesture that would normally be expected from a five-star hotel, such as a bottle of wine, a fruit basket, or any other form of compensation for such a serious issue. Instead, we experienced an arrogant attitude from several members of the staff. Overall, we expected a much higher standard from both Cyprus and this hotel. Considering the price we paid, the value for money was extremely poor. Sadly, we will not return.
Perfect location next to the beach, comfort ,clean rooms with an outstanding view, excellent quality food.Friendly staff in all the sections and don't forget to try the spa!
Friendly staff and professional, extremely comfortable and comfort rooms, impressive hotel's facilities, delicious food with a wide variety of choices and excellent presentation! Located next to beautiful, clear and lovely beach !We look forward to returning in the future!
The children’s activities run by the entertainment team were brilliant. Our 4 year old had so much fun with pizza making, cookie making, pottery with a spinning wheel, and slime creations. She also loved the magic show which involved all the children who wanted to participate. During the activities I was able to stay with my daughter but during kids clubs normal hours parents are not permitted to stay. My child did attend this session on two occasions each for an hour and loved it. The staff are very friendly, professional and welcoming, with all different nationalities. Special mentions to Annabelle, Ramzi, Shannon & Suzanna who all made both myself and my child feel very welcome and made the holiday extra special.
We came here for a 10-night all-inclusive holiday, but unfortunately this is definitely not a 5-star hotel. Our first room was at the back of the resort overlooking the main road. Across the road there was an area where boats were stored or repaired, and there was a dog barking throughout the night. Combined with the road traffic, it was very noisy and made the room feel isolated. It certainly didn't feel like a 5-star experience. We asked to move rooms and were given a ground-floor room closer to the main restaurant with a small seating area outside. We were much happier with this room until the second day. After returning from the beach and having a shower, we discovered water flooding into the bedroom. The water was coming through the wall that separated the bathroom from the bedroom. When we called reception, they said they would send a cleaner. We explained that a cleaner wouldn't solve the problem and that they would need a plumber. Two cleaners arrived, but eventually we had to return to reception ourselves, and we were moved again. In just five days, we had been moved three times. Our third room was back in the first building, but this time it overlooked the swimming pool and the sea. The view was much nicer, although the location still felt quite isolated from the rest of the resort. The buffet restaurant offered a wide selection of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and we really couldn't complain about the quality or variety. We also wanted to try the speciality restaurants, but booking them was extremely difficult because the booking system didn't work. Even when reception tried to help us, they couldn't make a reservation through the system and told us to return later when someone could make the booking manually. The Italian restaurant was good. The starters and desserts were served buffet style, while only the main course was ordered from the menu. Our experience at the BBQ restaurant was very disappointing. We only discovered on arrival that it was a fixed menu with no choice. The starter was a small green salad with cucumber, some sauce and bread. We asked for more bread, but it never arrived. We then waited almost an hour for our main course and thought we had been forgotten. After asking a waiter, he explained they were having issues and our food would arrive soon. The main course consisted of two small pieces of steak, two chicken wings, two small sausages and chips. It certainly didn't feel like a BBQ experience. For dessert, we were given one small piece of cake to share between the two of us. We noticed other tables were offered complimentary shots at the end of their meal, but we received nothing. We eventually left after another long wait, and it didn't even seem as though the staff noticed we had gone. The Mediterranean restaurant was by far the best dining experience of our holiday. This was the only evening where we genuinely felt we were receiving 5-star service. Hammid looked after us exceptionally well, made us feel very welcome and provided excellent service throughout the evening. He is a credit to the hotel. We also visited the burger restaurant. It was fine, but nothing special. We visited the Greek/local restaurant as well. The starters were a selection of small dishes including tzatziki, bread, salad and melitzanosalata. Afterwards, we were served a small pot of local sausage in tomato sauce. The main course was nothing special, and for dessert we were given three small squares of chocolate pie with melted chocolate to share between the two of us, followed by a complimentary shot. It is worth noting that not everything on the restaurant menus is included in the all-inclusive package, which was disappointing. At weekends, the beach became extremely crowded. The hotel advertises that it has a private beach, but this is not the case. We repeatedly saw members of the public using the beach and taking sunbeds that should have been available for hotel guests. We even witnessed groups of locals reserving sunbeds at both the beach and the swimming pool. One of these people appeared to be speaking with a hotel employee in a supervisory role, as he was not wearing the same uniform as the restaurant staff. Meanwhile, hotel guests were struggling to find available sunbeds. We reported this to reception while passing by. They told us they would inform the manager because this should not happen. However, nobody came to investigate, and nothing appeared to be done. Overall, while there were some positives, particularly the buffet food and the outstanding service from Hammid in the Mediterranean restaurant, the constant room changes, maintenance issues, difficulty booking the speciality restaurants, disappointing experiences in some of those restaurants, and the lack of management regarding the sunbeds meant this hotel did not provide the 5-star experience we had expected.
