Papouis Protaras Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at Papouis. Delicious food, a clean pool, a cozy atmosphere, and very friendly staff. Special thanks to Margo for the wonderful yoga and aqua aerobics classes. She's very kind, attentive, and puts everyone in a great mood. We'll definitely be back.

We visited in August 2025 for a week as a family of 4 but returned this July with a group of 10 but stayed for 2 weeks. We knew from last time that the hotel more than met our expectations but it has continued to meet them this time around. The hotel is spotless and any issues with cleanliness or spilt drinks are dealt with quickly. We had no issues with the food on offer, everyone in our group ate well and there were plenty of options. The pool was busy but we never had issues with loungers and plenty of parasols as well to keep us cool when needed. Just what we all needed for a relaxing holiday. Special mentions must go to Atar who was so polite and friendly around the pool, bringing drinks always with a smile on his face and always took the time to say hello. Also Picasso for providing us with so much entertainment around the pool during water polo and volleyball. He made a big fuss of my daughter and he has given us plenty of laughs over the course of the last fortnight with his "2 minutes out!!" screams.

We spent 12 very pleasant days at this hotel. It is a new property, which is visible right away, though like any place, there are a few areas that could be improved. Here is our detailed breakdown: 🟢 Pros Cleanliness: Being a new hotel, everything is exceptionally clean. Both the swimming pools and the poolside restrooms are kept spotless. Food & Dining: Breakfast: Absolutely top-tier—one of the best breakfasts I have ever had at a resort. Desserts & Fruit: Delicious watermelons, great apple/cherry pies, mousses, and various styled puddings. Overall Quality: Delicious food with nice Asian cuisine influences. Trays are refilled very quickly. Staff & Service: Exceptionally friendly, polite, and helpful team (mostly wonderful staff from Nepal). Drink service around the pool and during meals was high-class (true 5-star service). Gym: Surprisingly well-equipped for a hotel gym. You can tell someone actually put thought into buying proper equipment rather than just placing a few random machines. 🔴 Cons Room Capacity: The room was far too cramped for 4 people. Wardrobes and bathroom space (e.g., lack of towel racks for 4 people) seem designed for a maximum of 2 guests. Towel Policy: Towels are changed only once every 3 days (extra change costs £5). Pool towels are not provided for free (available to purchase for £10, good quality though). Lobby & AC: Very small lobby area with weak air conditioning (often too hot). It was a pity the lobby café was closed during our stay. Technical Issues: Water pressure/hot water dropped significantly after 6:00 PM when everyone showered before dinner. A blackout occurred during one dinner service (the staff handled it reasonably well and extended dinner by an hour). Guest Etiquette: Some British guests were smoking in the main restaurant dining area without intervention from the staff, despite ash trays being available at the nearby bar. End-of-stay Dining: The last 3 days of July felt slightly average compared to the rest of the stay (e.g., lack of fish dishes). 💡 Summary This was my second stay in Protaras, Cyprus, and definitely not my last. Cyprus offers amazing weather and a fantastic vibe. We will surely return in a few years to see how the town has grown. We booked this hotel for 2 weeks. The hotel was immaculate. Rooms were good and clean. Small storage space, you could hang longer clothes in the wardrobe like dresses. There was regular issues with the shower not having enough power. I reported it twice then realised at certain times of day the power would go in it. Probably when more guests were having shower's. We booked all inclusive to enjoy drinks round the pool of a day and have breakfast and lunch with plans to eat out of a night. We had breakfast once and lunch 5 times. People would be lined up outside the restaurant before it opened to get in. This was probably to get seats. The dining room was small for the amount of guests. Food was nice, hot and fresh. It was very repetitive. The drinks were very cheap tasting. We ended up buying pit drinks and brought them down to the pool of a day and didn’t bother to with the drinks. Pool beds! Be prepared to get up very early to get your beds and even earlier if you want the comfy blue ones! People saved the beds and would not be seen on them for hours. The pools are lovely and a great temperature not freezing! The hotel just does not have the facilities to accommodate the amount of guests. It has 2 lifts for all of the hotel and there was one day for nearly 24 hours with only one lift. Check out day we’re were advised we could use the shower room and to pre book it and towels would be provided and we just needed to go up to reception and let them know and housekeeping would bring down down. We done that and waited and waited and no one came so we just used our pool towels and left them. There was no locks on the doors and young teenage girls walked in thankfully we were not getting undressed. Also the smell in the shower rooms was awful. It’s definitely no more than a 3 star hotel. I would stay here again if it was bed and breakfast not all inclusive

I don't usually write reviews however... This hotel was absolutely fantastic, the cleanliness of the place was exceptional. Bar staff/restaurant staff/glass collectors all extremely friendly and helpful. Same goes for the staff at reception very helpful and pleasant. Iced coffe lattes with Baileys in them are hard to beat. My 2 kids really liked (Picasso) joining in his games everyday. Also nice touch kids getting water bottles with names on them on arrival for the stay. Kids slides and pool fantastic kids spent hours everyday here. Great addition to the hotel. The food for me was outstanding, alot better than 4* places I've stayed in. Plenty of variety for everyone. Only downside for me is in the evenings, entertainment not great but we went out most nights. Just home and booked for next year and I have never done that before. Roll on next July. For me this hotel far surpasses the 3 star rating it has. Keep up the great work. Kids
