Hotel Park

This hotel is in a superb location right on the pine treed Riva beside the beach. It is clean and contemporary with friendly, helpful staff on reception, in housekeeping and in the dining room. We stayed for a week half board buffet style. We arrived very late as a group the first night and were met with a cold piece of breaded chicken and a shredded vegetable mix under cling film with water from a dispenser as our first meal!!!!!! Nothing else so a cheap start to half board for the hotel and a worry for our weeks cuisine. However for the first 3 days the choice of food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent but then the wheels started to gradually come off.. no more granolas or apricots, no honey or mushrooms or smoked salmon, delays in replenishing milk, fried eggs, breads, jams etc at breakfast by 07.30am!!!!!! and in evening no more dressings for fish or salads, beef burgers instead of beef, lamb which had more fat and gristle than meat, no ice creams ( we forgot to order it) slow replenishment of options even though hotel was not at high season, Oh and the house wines are awful, cost 6-7 euros a glass and are barely 25 mm deep in a glass…avoid Not sure why the hotel let this deterioration over the week happen, maybe chef problems, certainly he appeared one evening to give my wife a lecture when asked why no more smoked salmon as to why because it was farmed and bought in as low quality! Bizarre. It didn’t spoil our holiday but it gave all of our group an unnecessary talking point as the week progressed. Perhaps book b and b as plenty of waterside restaurants like Bruschetta next door are excellent !

Ignore any poor reviews, this hotel is definitely a 4 star, rooms are large and modern, staff are very friendly and helpful, great location in the heart of Makarska with the beach across the road, food is decent with plenty of choice, i can't understand why anyone would moan about anything regarding this hotel. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Park. The location is excellent, the rooms were lovely, the pool area is great and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was perfectly adequate with plenty of choice, lunch at the bar was good, although we found the evening buffet fairly average — especially considering how many excellent local restaurants Makarska has to offer. The only real frustration was the sun lounger situation. The hotel has a policy about unattended loungers not being reserved for long periods, however this appeared to function more as an aspirational concept than an actively enforced rule. This led to the usual morning ritual of towels and random personal artefacts apparently enjoying full pool privileges long before their owners arrived. A little more consistent management of this would make a big difference to the overall pool experience. We did get loungers a couple of times and found lovely shaded beach spots other times. We had a lovely stay overall and would happily return. Hotel Park is a great base for exploring Makarska and the surrounding area.

Have stayed here for a week now. Fabulous hotel, great location, rooms very comfortable, spacious and spotless. Hats off to housekeeping! Went half board very disappointed food whilst good selection very basic not 4 star quality. Staff could not do enough for you very helpful. Highlight of the stay was the amazing Eva in the hotel Spa!! I really hope you know what a valuable & talented employee you have with her. I had three visits to the spa for the medical massage and she is the best I have ever visited!!!! I would return to the hotel just to visit her.

Stayed at this hotel as part of a group with Sunway Travel. Lovely modern hotel, practically on the beach. Rooms & facilities all fine. My main issue was with the restaurant/food. It is more like a canteen with self service for breakfast & dinner. OK I can deal with that. But serving lukewarm food is not acceptable. They also need to sort out their system for providing tea/coffee. Queuing up, cup in hand for some hot water for a breakfast cuppa is not how I want to start my day. Thankfully there are lovely restaurants nearby, but having paid for half board it was very disappointing to have to shell out more money for a decent meal.
