Hotel Park

What we thought was our compromise of a paradise, turn out to be all what we didn’t wanted. We knew/hoped: small hotel/pool meant no kids! We chose hotel park because they didn’t have pictures of kids stuff. No playground or toys. Pretty small pool area, but you would think they would make the pool area a proper size for how many guest they have… But no. It was like waking op in a Deja-vu, every morning at 07.50, that felt like being in the battle of Minas Tirith. The battle of sun beds! Very stressful when you are on holiday. And no kids stuff, does not stop families with kids stay here.. so yeah that was nice… The room.. again we chose hotel park for their great balconies with lots of privacy and shadow. Yeah we didn’t get one of those. We got “are we living in the same room as our nabos, maybe we are a couple from Sweden now” that f’ing close! with nothing between for privacy. On the 6 floor lots of wind. And we seriously did choose the hotel for the good balcony, they show in pictures! So the room has great curtains and they made a shielding for total black out of the room yay! But they forgot to put a long enough curtain rod op, so yea you a waking up when the sun is.. but then you a fresh for fighting for a pool chair at 8 so.. they had shutters, but they were not working, so.. The toilet was running, had to remember to push the bottom down or it was very loud. Breakfast horrible. And lots of other weird choices they made. Will never come back, never been so happy to leave a place before, but Makarska (is beautiful) but it’s like living in an anthill.. the boy at the bar is nice, the other staff (in the reception) got to much power and love it..

The experiences at this hotel are some of the most absurd I've had on a vacation. From the overall rundown vibe of the place to the hotel insisting on closing the pool area for 14 hours a day, the idea of enjoyment was pretty difficult at times A lot of guests start the day at 7:30, where the main goal is to try to claim sunbeds by the pool, a situation that brings out the best in people. Mostly anger and disappointment. For the amount of people staying, the pool seems more like a pond than an actual pool. A lot of things in our room and in the hotel in general are also broken or just worn down, and could easily be fixed, but this place chooses not to. Sunbeds, furniture, curtains, shutters etc., so there's just a constant reminder that this place sucked and my joy of this holiday is the result of my girlfriend, family, and THC. I have nothing but contempt for this hotel and Makarska in general. Stay away as best you can.

Amazing location with beautiful sea views. Located right on the beach with its own swimming pool and loungers, so you have the choice of swimming in the sea or the pool and using the free loungers during the day. Nice breakfast and dinner which is good value with lots of choice at 25 euros pp when compared to local restaurants. Staff pleasant and polite and they kindly ensured our room was ready ahead of formal check in time, which was greatly appreciated. Thank you all at hotel Park, we will be back!

This hotel is in a superb location right on the pine treed Riva beside the beach. It is clean and contemporary with friendly, helpful staff on reception, in housekeeping and in the dining room. We stayed for a week half board buffet style. We arrived very late as a group the first night and were met with a cold piece of breaded chicken and a shredded vegetable mix under cling film with water from a dispenser as our first meal!!!!!! Nothing else so a cheap start to half board for the hotel and a worry for our weeks cuisine. However for the first 3 days the choice of food at both breakfast and dinner was excellent but then the wheels started to gradually come off.. no more granolas or apricots, no honey or mushrooms or smoked salmon, delays in replenishing milk, fried eggs, breads, jams etc at breakfast by 07.30am!!!!!! and in evening no more dressings for fish or salads, beef burgers instead of beef, lamb which had more fat and gristle than meat, no ice creams ( we forgot to order it) slow replenishment of options even though hotel was not at high season, Oh and the house wines are awful, cost 6-7 euros a glass and are barely 25 mm deep in a glass…avoid Not sure why the hotel let this deterioration over the week happen, maybe chef problems, certainly he appeared one evening to give my wife a lecture when asked why no more smoked salmon as to why because it was farmed and bought in as low quality! Bizarre. It didn’t spoil our holiday but it gave all of our group an unnecessary talking point as the week progressed. Perhaps book b and b as plenty of waterside restaurants like Bruschetta next door are excellent !

Ignore any poor reviews, this hotel is definitely a 4 star, rooms are large and modern, staff are very friendly and helpful, great location in the heart of Makarska with the beach across the road, food is decent with plenty of choice, i can't understand why anyone would moan about anything regarding this hotel.
