Valamar Meteor Hotel

I disregarded this hotel when I was first looking due to it appearing too family friendly. I read the reviews and changed my mind. We booked it as a package holiday. We loved all aspects of the hotel. The food was excellent and a massive choice. I have never seen such a big indoor pool for a hotel. It is deep and there are no life guards on so I didn’t think very suitable for young children. We paid extra for a sea view room, which we were glad we did as we had a lovely large balcony. There were lots of people around our age there. There were some children, but not too many. Just beware of the cycles in reception area, the children can be rather fast on them. You need to be made aware that our package holiday transfer, which I must point out is nothing to do with the hotel took nearly 3 hours to get back to Split airport, which meant we missed our flight. Our holiday firm, made us pay £220 to re-book our flight and told us to look on line for a hotel room. This experience totally ruined our holiday. The transfer co did in the end pay for a hotel room for us, but no other costs, so just beware when booking this hotel it is a long way from the airport. Good time to go in April, as weather not too hot, beach and hotel sunbathing area are very quiet. Hotel is in an excellent location to visit other parts of Croatia. We did organised trips to Dubrovnik, Split and the Sky Walk. All excellent, but none of the places were over busy and weather was very pleasant.

We stayed for an extended weekend in April with our four year old daughter, and everything was truly perfect! Breakfast and dinner were excellent, everything was fresh, delicious, and varied, with no complaints at all. The indoor pool is large and warm, and there were plenty of sun loungers available. Although the hotel was quite busy, it never felt crowded, which is really commendable. We would especially like to highlight the children’s program, from the playroom near the reception to the Mini Club. The Mini Club is fantastic: spacious, well equipped, and full of fun activities, along with an evening mini disco that our daughter absolutely loved. We also stayed last year and will definitely be coming back again. We truly enjoyed every moment. This is our favorite family hotel in Croatia, and we highly recommend it!

Lovely hotel with beach access. Had both indoor & outdoor pool. Also has a spa if you want to book treatments. Food is Buffet style with plenty of choice. Entertainment each evening & plenty of activities for children. Staff are polite & attentive. Highly recommend a visit.

I was very disappointed with the lack of proper food labeling at the hotel restaurant. There were no clear declarations indicating what type of meat was being served — whether it was pork, beef, chicken, or something else. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel of this category. Guests have the right to know what they are eating, especially those with dietary restrictions, allergies, or religious considerations. The absence of such basic information shows a serious lack of attention to detail and respect for guests. I strongly urge the management to address this issue immediately and ensure proper labeling and transparency in the future.

I expected much more from a Valamar hotel, considering the reputation the brand tries to maintain. Unfortunately, my stay was a huge disappointment. The rooms are tiny, and the so-called “double bed” is actually just two small single beds pushed together, leaving an uncomfortable gap right in the middle — definitely not what you’d expect from a hotel of this category. The pillows are old, worn out, and covered with some kind of plastic pillowcase that makes sleeping very unpleasant. The bathroom is outdated, with greenish stains and visible mold — clearly not properly cleaned or maintained. The pool area looks completely neglected, with dirty sunbeds and an overall sense of poor upkeep. On top of that, the minibar was completely empty, which just adds to the feeling of poor service and lack of attention to detail. Overall, this hotel fails to meet even basic expectations of cleanliness and comfort, let alone the level of quality Valamar hotels are supposed to represent. It seriously needs renovation, better management, and a complete rethink of its hygiene standards.
