Zaton Holiday Resort

We stayed with Eurocamp in June with 2 kids. The campsite is huge, there is no central area, all amenities are spread out which means a lot of walking! For us the pools were amazing, lots of slides for small kids and the area is clean, has exceptional changing facilities etc and are very well maintained. Good food options available too poolside (albeit pricey). It is annoying that you have to pay €20 for sunbeds/parasol but we knew that before we booked. It just means you have to stay at the one pool for the day, otherwise you're paying twice which is unacceptable. We only had dinner once onsite at the Italian restaurant and it was lovely and good value for money. The staff were pleasant and service was good. We went to the beach bar a few nights to watch the football, again staff were nice and drinks were good. The beach is lovely and it's great to see the inflatable aqua park is back this year. Definitely a positive. Supermarket onsite is good, a little pricey but well stocked. Bigger and better supermarket just outside the the back entrance. We went into Nin for dinner twice which was lovely but other than that, there is little else in the area, especially within walking distance. Cons: Lighting throughout the campsite is terrible! Even around the entertainment areas/amphitheatre/beach, very poorly lit at night which is not good enough when walking with small kids. Not enough Lifeguards on duty and those who are working were on their phones most of the time. One lifeguard in particular was more interested in arguing with a guest over the size of an inflatable than observing the pool. The same lifeguard spent at least 15 mins arguing with another lifeguard and during this time neither of them were monitoring the pool!!! The road from the reception area up towards the new pool/funfair/mobiles/back entrance is a disaster. There is no footpath so people have no option but to walk on the road along with people cycling, riding scooters and cars. It's really busy and quite dangerous. Entertainment is definitely lacking - there is no atmosphere in the evening/night. If it wasn't for the world cup, I don't know what we would have done. The central promenade is missing entertainment which is a shame because it's a lovely area. By day there just aren't enough activities organised for kids unlike other campsites we've stayed at. Most activities are at an extra cost and they aren't cheap. When we were there the new glamping village was under construction. It didn't interfere with our stay and they look lovely but I worry that with all these extra guests, the campsite will be way too busy for the facilities onsite. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the pool areas really are amazing but wouldn't be enough for us to return which is a shame because there is huge potential if some changes were made.

Year after year, Zaton Resort is looking for another ways to squeeze more money from its customers. They've shut off all loyalty programs for long-time customers. With half board, you can't fill your bottle with regular still water, you can't place your blanket next to paid beach loungers (mostly empty) at the new pool complex, they've even reduced the benefits of accepting welcome ice cream for children....well, their choice....

I've been in Zaton 5 times and every visit price of the accomodation went up and quality went down. The last stay appartment was full of termites slowly destoying all the wooden parts of the appartment, every morning we have to clean wooden remenats. Bathroom was full of mold. We called cleaning servise but it was already in a state where cleaning would not remove it competely only complete reconstuction would help. In our previous stays we used to eat in Konoba Bepo(lunch and dinner) and breakfast/coffee in restuarant next the pools(old ones, close to the amphitheater). None of the was possible anymore. Konoba was closed completely and beach restaurant was opened only from 11AM. I know there are other Food & Beverage possiblities but there were always some issues with other restaurants. For example i don't want to walk far to very busy reception area to get coffee in the morning, i want to enjoy coffee with see view and light breeze comming out of the see in a nice restaurant. Quality of food and environment in the other restaurants were quite low. Opening hours of Food & Beverages Amenities in the beach are were 11-12, so no changes to get coffee or anyhting before 11AM around the beach.

We stayed in a mobile home. Everything was ok. The resort is big, so we had about 15 minutes to walk to the beach (we were located somewhere in the middle). The lower pools are poorly maintained for the safety of children on the lower children's slides. During all the days of our visit there was no lifeguard present to warn the children, to move away from the slide, not to rush, to walk in the opposite direction. The situation is just calling for accidents and injuries to children.

We booked through eurocamp as a regular customer. The mobile home was eurocamp standard and has an oven and dishwasher (had a premium 3 bed with lounge decking). This is where the positives ends. For an expensive campsite all activities for kids was extra the bouncy castles €5 for 10 minutes. The use of sun loungers is extortionate. It is €20 per sunbed per use. If you want one at the beach then later go to the pool you will twice. As all beaches in Croatia they ate stoney so sun loungers are useful. With all the extra Mobile homes being added in very peak season expect things to be crazy crowded. Just outside the resort you can rent an umbrella and 2 loungers for €20 and the sea is so shallow you can walk across from the campsite If you staying in the eurocamp mobile homes you can walk out the back entrance and over the road is 2 big supermarkets. The beach at Nin is lovely €10 parking walkable at a push. Also to note they eat early everything including entertainment is finished by 10pm. I wouldn't come back or recommend to anyone. This is the most disappointing eurocamp I have ever been on.
