Pictures cannot depict the beauty of the location of the hotel. Everywhere you look, from every angle is beauty. I will summarise the excellent and not so excellent of the hotel as constructively as I can. Location: As above, Slano like all of Croatia that we have seen is stunningly breathtaking. The hotel lays next to a small, picturesque port where 6 large yachts and quite a few smaller boats moor. We suffered no noise from this. When you look around you at the beach, there are no ugly high rise monstrosities. Only lovely and quaint stone buildings dotted amongst an abundance of lush hills and mountains. Just outside the hotel, you can stroll to about 3 or 4 local and charming restaurants serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus 2 shops selling souvenirs, bags and clothes. The bus stop, which so many mention is literally across the road where the very prompt number 12 bus can take you to Dubrovnik. It’s only just over 3 Euros and air conditioned so more like a coach. We looked out for signs to Old City and jumped off. Beach: Ok so it’s Stoney which I Didn’t think I’d get on with but as long as you use your water shoes it is a small price to pay for what I consider one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been on due to the backdrop and the crystal clear water which is literally as if it’s come straight out of a tap. The cleanest sea I’ve ever been in. And it was so still and calm, I actually searched on arrival to see if it was a lake! (It isn’t, it’s the Adriatic Sea). You literally step down from the pool onto the beach which we love. Our one complaint is that I found the sunbeds to be super uncomfortable and my back really suffered. We are in our 50’s along with the majority of the guests so I really feel that as this is a 5* hotel it should invest in luxury, cushioned sunbeds for us oldies with aches and pains. However, the beds were absolutely plentiful. No sunbed wars whatsoever as there were plenty, along with umbrellas for everyone no matter what time you arrived. Pool: A lovely pool which like the whole hotel, was spotlessly clean. A lovely poolside bar provided drinks, delicious ice creams and good food. The pool is saltwater which I prefer personally as I hate chemicals. It isn’t heated though so not for the faint hearted! It was extremely cold (I found it refreshing but my hubby did moan!) Room: We had a standard room overlooking the carpark at the front of the hotel which sounds awful but honestly the view of those mountains was breathtaking. Money saved from a seaview. Plenty of storage and well equipped. No frills but very comfortable. A nice dressing table, sofa and table so very spacious. Food: Absolutely delicious with plenty of variety of meat, fish, vegetables and deserts. All cooked beautifully and tender cuts of meat with no gristle or fat. I will say that to ensure that food hasn’t run out or gone cold you are best to get down 7-7.30pm. Breakfasts are plentiful with something for everyone. Bless her, the jolly, smiley lady cooking the eggs in the morning really needs some tips on how it should be done! I was itching to give her some pointers on a good fried egg and omelette but didn’t want to offend. Staff: I’ve left the best till last. Every staff member was exceptional. I think this is not just because of good customer service training but because like all of the Croatian people we met and spoke to, they are genuinely wonderful humans. We asked for more hangers, ten arrived in 15 minutes. We wanted softer pillows, no problem. 20 minutes later, cloud like pillows arrived at our door. The reception staff, the waiters, barmen all wonderful. This hotel deserves every success and with luxury sunbeds it would remove 100% perfection
We had one night at this hotel on our road trip from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. In fairness we had only booked a basic room & it was quite nice with good views of the beach & pool from the balcony. Bed quality was ok but the one pillow was flat & hard. I was told that only 2 complimentary tea bags for each room per stay was given which isn’t a standard I’d expect from a 5 star hotel.Bottled water also was chargeable in the room. Thankfully we were there just overnight. The hotel does have a very nice outdoor pool with pool bar & the beach is lovely with plenty of sunbeds & umbrellas. Very easy access into the sea. We would highly recommend Poolaka for an evening meal a short walk from the hotel. The breakfast buffet was very basic not much choice again not a 5 star experience. Plus point for the hotel car parking is free. For us the hotel didn’t meet our expectations.
We returned to the Admiral Grand Hotel after first visiting in June 2025. Both Slano & the Admiral Grand did not disappoint & we had another lovely relaxing week. The room, service & food were again all great & the hotel staff were even friendlier than last year, with special mention to our restaurant waitress Maria P. Thank you Admiral Grand!
Absolutely stunning location of this hotel. Peaceful and beautiful. All the staff were friendly and worked really hard. The rooms were attended every day and made immaculate. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean at all times. Food was buffet style and generally very good…. Enough to keep our vegetarian happy. It’s a good 45mins drive outside of Dubrovnik which is something to consider when booking if you want to spend a lot of time there, only a few trips pick up from the hotel itself. So happy there were plenty of sunbeds every day.. did see a few leave towels on to reserve, only to not come back for hrs so the hotel needs to get better at removing these and publicising that it’s not tolerated as r this may cause issues at peak times. No need to take own towels as beautiful white towels in room changed every day and lovely big beach towels provided daily. Overall very much recommend this hotel if you want a chilled out peaceful stay in the most stunning location. Special thanks to MARIA J who was the best server in the restaurant… she was on it all the time and so very friendly too. Thank you Admiral Grand for the best holiday
I have a muscular condition which affects my general mobility and my body has a lot of pain and I struggle quite a lot especially if I have been very active the previous day. We travelled from Dubrovnik to the Admiral Grand Hotel from the port after a weeks' cruise. First impressions were that it was clean and the staff we initially had contact with were well presented and friendly. We had travelled with TUI and their rep Kristina was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful, she resolved a problem we had encountered very quickly and satisfactorily. Our room was a good size with a very decent sized balcony, we had a mountain view and it was quiet. The pools were clean and sunbeds were always available, the pool bar was manned and the staff were very pleasant and always had a smile. Beach towels were available every day. There are ramps and steps in the pool area which helped me to get around easily. The beach was OK for older children and adults, I wouldn't recommend it for younger children due to the beach being stony/gravelly and the sudden slope into deeper water. There was always a good selection of food at breafast and evening, though the cooked breakfast items looked a bit too greasy for me. The restaurant staff were all very polite, helpful and accommodating. The bar staff were friendly, happy and friendly, a special shout out to Danijela and Ivana who both made us smile and laugh whenever they were on duty. Danijela always took time to bring our drinks to wherever we were sitting. We booked a massage and the experience was excellent and left us feeling relaxed. The housekeeping team were always friendly, and despite the hard work they had to do, always had a smile. There wasn't much in the way of entertainment though, and the resort itself was very quiet, however, that suited us. We took the local bus to Dubrovnik which was less than €4 each way per person, but the bus does not take you direct to the old town, you get off at the top of a hill and have to walk down several flights of stone steps then walk down to the Pile gate. We picked up a tuk tuk which took us to the top of the mountain/hill where the cable car goes to, and returned us to the Pile gate. There is a museum dedicated to the Homeland War close to the cable car. The views are amazing. The next day we went to Korcula old town which was like a smaller version of Dubrovnik, and I much preferred it there it wasn't as busy but both had lots of the usual souvenir shops and all prices were higher than elsewhere. Most of the locals were very friendly and many tourists weren't. Over all we had a very enjoyable stay at Slano.
