Hotel Astarea I und II

Great hotel and really busy even in October. Facilities and both indoor and outdoor pool were excellent. Buffet evening meal was nice but so so busy and felt overwhelming. Disappointed with the size of the room and after booking a superior room (and a week before arrival being told it was now known as something else) there was not enough room to swing a cat! Even more disappointing was that we booked a 'sea view' room through Jet2 for our 20th anniversary and again a week before we got an email stating our sea view room would now be known as a side sea room/restricted view! On arrival in our tiny room there was a massive tree blocking the view whereby we could see other rooms in a better location with better views. We challenged this only to be told (and still being told 5 months on) that the website states trees may block views and that we WERE allocated the correct room. Not a leg to stand on here dealing with a massive company and the little customer has to go away and accept their apology...So disappointed with both the hotel and Jet2 with this and feel like it's being told the full buffet breakfast will now be known as bacon and eggs...🤷‍♂️ Won't be returning.

This is a newly renovated hotel on the seafront in the small resort of Mlini near Dubrovnik. We stayed for a week on a Jet2 holiday. Our sea view room in the annex was comfortable with a small balcony to enjoy. The facilities in the main hotel are excellent. Outdoor pool and paddling pool clean and well kept. Wonderful heated indoor pool, which we used a lot as late in the season. Plenty of room to lounge around the pool. The breakfast and evening buffets had a good choice of food, which was well cooked and presented . Good value for money. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Staff were helpful and friendly. The resort of Mlini has many bars and restaurants along the seafront. Buses to Dubrovnik and Cavtat every half hour. Ferry to Dubrovnik and Cavtat and Islands 5 mins walk along the seafront. Downsides: Annex is 3 storey and there are no lifts. Lots of steps and hills around the resort. Steepish hill to bus stop on the main road behind the hotel. Buffet food could sometimes be tepid, even though food replenished frequently. Can be busy when coach tours are staying. Indoor pool can be noisy. Suggest adult only hours could be tried? Croatia is no longer a cheap place to holiday. Prices to eat out similar to UK.

We stayed at Astraea for 10 nights in July 2025, booking through Jet2 Holidays. It was our first time visiting Croatia, and we honestly had the best holiday ever – a huge part of that was thanks to this fantastic hotel. Sunbeds & Pool Area Let’s start with the topic everyone seems to mention – the sunbeds. There are plenty of loungers around the pool, and the hotel clearly can’t fit in any more. They have clear signs and policies about not reserving loungers, and we saw staff removing towels that had been left unattended for over two hours. Yes, some people do reserve them early, but we found that if we popped our towels down around 8am on our way to breakfast (and came to the pool as soon as we finished), we never had a problem finding two beds together. For large families who want loungers together every day, it’s something to consider, as you could struggle during peak season. We split our time between relaxing by the pool and exploring the beautiful local area. Location The location is unbeatable – right on the coast with incredible sunsets and plenty of great restaurants and bars within walking distance. We loved the Pirate Social Bar, just five minutes away, for its cocktails and live music. A short stroll further along the coast brings you to even more fantastic dining options. We used the boat taxi service to both Dubrovnik and Cavtat, which was a lovely experience, and Uber is also a cheap and easy way to get around. We also did a jet ski safari tour to Dubrovnik – an absolute highlight and a once-in-a-lifetime experience! We did a day trip to Kotor, Montenegro, was also incredible. The airport is very close (about a 9-euro Uber ride), yet we never once heard airplane noise at the hotel. Rooms We stayed in a standard annex room, which is separate from the main hotel but just steps away. We were lucky enough to have a sea view, which was stunning. The room was spacious, modern, and very comfortable, with excellent air conditioning. Beds were twins pushed together, very comfortable. There was plenty of storage, though we brought an over-the-door organiser for the bathroom which came in handy. We did notice that chair movements in neighbouring rooms can be a bit noisy, so softer stoppers on chair legs would help. Food Breakfast offered everything you could possibly want – pastries, full English options, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fruit, and more. It was the same selection daily, but very good quality. It is the same everyday, but I’m not sure how you can change up breakfast to be honest! Dinner was varied and enjoyable, with new dishes each evening. We would have loved to see a few more traditional Croatian options, but overall, the food was great. I eat gluten free and there were plenty of options for me, including deserts. The only downside was the drink service at dinner – sometimes we’d finished our meal (and dessert!) before drinks were served. More staff or faster service in this area would make a big difference. Hotel, Facilities & Staff The hotel grounds are beautiful – modern, spotless, and well maintained. We used the spa and indoor pool, both of which were excellent. The local church overlooking the pool chimes every hour, which we loved. Access to the beach is easy via a few steps, and the sea is crystal clear with a sandy bottom – perfect for swimming. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. They weren’t overly attentive, which we actually preferred, but every interaction we had was positive. Overall Astraea is a wonderful hotel in a stunning location, perfect for exploring the Dubrovnik coast. We absolutely loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommend to all.

Astarea in Mlini is a lovely hotel set in a picturesque location along an attractive coastline. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within a short stroll towards the nearby town. It is also only a short taxi ride away from Dubrovnik and we had a guy named ‘Marko’ arranged by the hotel who was brilliant, picking us up and dropping us off everywhere at a moment’s notice, making our explorations of Dubrovnik Old Town, Lokrum Island and the likes much easier and more enjoyable. The hotel itself was very clean and attractive, with ideal interconnecting rooms for us as a family. The breakfast had a nice selection of food options which all seemed to be reasonable quality, although it could get busy at peak time. Our experience of dinner was a bit hit and miss so we opted to dine out at a lovely local Italian restaurant a lot of evenings. The only negative thing I would mention (which numerous reviews will highlight) is the towel throwing fiasco at the pool. People queuing at 7.30 for when the gates opened at 8, throwing numerous towels down and then disappearing for the day. Unfortunately, there are plenty of these sad individuals about and the demand for space/relaxers clearly out numbers the allocation…. The hotel needs to manage this. For this specific reason I opted never to frequent this area and instead paid ten euro’s to have a relaxer on the beach by the sea when the need arose, but this is not ideal for a family of 5 on a daily basis (possibly a deliberate money making incentive by the hotel). The Sea was Crystal clear and really nice to swim/snorkel in, but with pebbles/stones lining the edge just make sure to bring footwear. This was our first time in Croatia and overall, really enjoyed it. We were also lucky enough to be there during the opening of there summer games, booking boat excursion to watch the evening fireworks over Dubrovnik old town.. which were fantastic !!

Me and my wife stopped here for 10 nights Clean hotel some friendly staff at the bar area ,went to reception one night for some coffee cream told house keeping finished at ten oclock it was five past ten when i asked told had to wait till morning even though the bar was still open and serving coffee. Following night i asked why they turned the hotels cooling system off when the nights was humid and stuffy and people could not sleep propely they told me the hotel had switxhed it off and wasnt putting back on so we had five nights were we could not sleep .
