We arrived here in the last week of June. We found the hotel is in a good location for exploring old town and nearby Cavtat. The hotel has its own pool and array of sunbeds. Although there isn't sun bed wars here. If you haven't got a bed by 0930, then you won't get one. They do state you can't reserve beds and towels will be moved after 30 minutes but its not really enforced and staff aren't proactive. Although they did remove some towels when people complained Annoyingly there's a beautiful beach with abundance of beds. The which people won't use because of the need to pay, nearly €30 for two beds and a umbrella. Taking away this restriction would most certainly reduce demand on the pool. The pool in late June/July was lovely and a dip was well needed after sunbathing for any length of time.. The beach Although stoney, which can be negated by sand shoes is marvelous. Fantastic for snorkeling or swimming. Breakfast was a basic affair and I stopped going after a while or if I did go, having a coffee only. The room, ours with a sea view was excellent and boosted a beautiful view of sea. In the room you'll fine a Kettle, fridge, strong AC, a good balcony and a nice shower. The tap water was safe to drink and a bottle left in the fridge overnight meant it was chilled for the following morning.. The hotel is based in Mlini which appears to be made up of the hotel only. If you walk to the nearby village of Srebreno. You'll find a great range of shops, restaurants and bars. The walk is less than twenty minutes. We tried the beach bar for food which was great and the pizza pasta restaurant, also very nice. The local beach shop is expensive, so my advice would be to stock up on beers and snacks at a local supermarket. Old town dubrovnik and Cavtat can be reached by water taxi, cash only and departs near to Hogar bar. The bus, which runs frequently. There's a bus stop outside of the hotel. Uber is cheaper and around 8-10 € This hotel is perfect for relaxing or day tripping and I would certainly recommend it.

Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in a superior side sea view room in the main building of hotel, not sure it was worth the upgrade, our room looked over the car park & solar panel roof tops to reception! But we could see the sea! Room was very clean & functional, not very big but that wasn’t an issue for us. Reception staff efficient but not particularly friendly, when checking out didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our stay! Hotel doesn’t have any atmosphere! No evening entertainment. Restaurant staff friendly & efficient. Pool area isn’t big enough for the amount of people. Beach sun beds 10 euros each & umbrella 8 euros which is an added expense if not able to have a sun bed around the pool area. We asked for a late check out the day before departure and was told it was 20 euro per hour but couldn’t tell us if the room was available until later.. later we asked & it was 30 euros per hour! & still didn’t know if we could keep the room! Consequently we didn’t get a later room check out. Breakfast was very average! The hot section was cold every morning, The fruit selection was only citrus fruits. Coffee machine added sugar to drinks automatically. Overall a good stay, the area is beautiful & well worth a visit.

Loved our stay at Hotel Astarea in Mlini. We stayed in the Annexe, situated just up the hill from the main hotel. Don’t let the exterior put you off ( it looks a little tired) the room was perfect with stunning sea view! The hotel was spotlessly clean as was the pool & beach areas. Plenty of choice for food the buffet style wasn’t my ideal choice as a Gluten Free traveller, and I found the evening meals a little repetitive to be honest but i totally understand they are catering for large numbers. The breakfasts were great! Overall would recommend if you want a quieter location as there wasn’t much going in the hotel itself in the evenings so maybe not for a younger crowd. Also maybe not suitable for those with restricted mobility as there are a lot of steps ! And situated on a hillside ! Mlini is beautiful and not far to Cavtat & Dubrovnik which has a much livelier vibe. Ubers cheap & reliable & boat taxis run frequently .
